Isabelle(Juliette Binoche) played a mid 50's divorced painter, sharing
custody of a 10-year-old daughter, successful in her work and living alone in Paris.
Her quest to find the One man who will finally fulfill her. A woman desire to fall in
love and be desired.
She is a smart woman who just makes bad choices in all the wrong places.
Isabelle did not seduce them, she simply falls in with them.
"Unsuitable", men with raging libidos and low morals.
Some men like-
Married banker, Vincent (Xavier Beauvois) while she lies beneath him, waiting for
him to achieve climax and she wants him to stop asking her if she's there yet.
And she slaps him right away when he again asks her if she came faster with her former lovers.
Or if she has enjoyed more orgasms with them. And he treats her badly and just using her for sex.
And remind her that, she is charming but his wife is extraordinary.
A young alcoholic actor (Nicolas Duvauchelle) inability to take decisions. Insists he's leaving his wife.
He wants Isabelle to persuade him into staying the night, but only wallows in the morning after regret.
And request that at their next encounter, they should not have sex.
She also goes to bed with her ex-husband(Laurent Grevill), more from force of habit than from desire.
He tries to have axxl sex with her which she angrily rejects on the grounds that it is exploitative and
he has copied from watching porn.
Lastly, she visits a love psychic played by (Gerard Depardieu) She wants him to give her an easy answer.
He gives Isabelle advice and guidance about her affairs. She feels lacking in finality.
And he even suggesting himself as a possible new partner.
She smiles and she knows that it’s the only possible way forward.
The film’s title is little misleading.
"The beautiful inner sunshine", reflects better for the film than the official translation.
