Set in 1991 Madrid. It follows the fifteen-year teenager
Veronica(Sandra Escacena). The eldest, put upon herself as
substitute mom in her home.
Too busy to have the concerns of the average teenager.

Her bar-employed mother (Ana Torrent) works nights and
sleep during the day, trying to make ends meet after

all the money in the world is a crime thriller-drama.

with the usual ridley scott movie excellence, it is about the true story of the 1973 kidnapping of john paul petty3.

paul getty, the grandfather was at that time, not only the richest man in the world but the richest man in the history of the world.

stars christopher plummer, michelle williams, mark wahlberg, charlie plummer. 4/5.

interesting to note that at the last minute, kevin spacey was replaced by christopher plummer with some reshoots!

The Thousand Faces of Dunjia is a yuen wo-ping & tsui hark film.

you would expect these 2 director-producer icons to produce another great-great film as they usually do.

well... i was disappointed... i find it so-so only.

a rather stale storyline, perhaps inspired by the many hollywood "x-men saves the planet from aliens" genre films.

the cgi is overpowering... overdose.

and... it looks like there will be a sequel! 2.5/5.

Pyewacket(2017)

in the occult practices with an impressive collection of books

coping well.

Mother and daughter are constantly at odds.
Especially when she can no longer endure her current living arrangement.
She decides to move to a more rural location, a secluded forest-set home.

Leah performs a blood incantation calling on the demon Pyewacket
to come punish her mother. Soon discovers that she's succeeded
as strange things begin happening and a spectral figure makes
eerie appearances.

But when she realizes it too late, she tries to find out

Pitch Perfect 3 (2017)

Sigh

What did I watch?... blink.gif

Seriously....

WHAT DID I WATCHED.....

Main issues with this movie?

Where is the story?

Why does Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) thinks that she is funny?

Elizabeth Banks & John Michael Higgins characters have absolutely nothing else better to do... Groan

The sun does not rise and set around acapella.... which for some odd reason, the Bellas believe

Irony, the Bella with the most sense, is the one least shown (the Momme Bella)...

Why?

LIFE GOES ON.

Even having John Lithgow in this, did not help it... doh.gif

Couple of decent songs, and pic quality decent, no other positive to add...

You have been warned kiddies, you have been warn... rclxub.gif

Padmaavat(2018)
Writer, producer, director- Sanjay Leela Bhansali
Stars-Deepika Padukone(xXx: Return of Xander Cage),
Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh.
Language -Hindi with English subtitles.
Running time-2 hours 30-minutes.

There are three disclaimers before this movie is shown.
To make sure the audience knows and understand that the film is
based on Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s poem and not intend to hurt
anyone’s sentiment.
And we are assured that probably nothing we are about to see
actually ever happened.
The longest I ever have seen in a movie.

The story of Queen Padmavati(Deepika Padukone) and her invader,
Alauddin Khilji(Ranveer Singh), who on hearing about her
beauty, wages two wars and kills countless people so that
he can “conquer” her. And he also does not believe in principles or mercy.
At one scene, when asked his reasons for invading his
neighboring state, he replied, "I am going to war for beauty".

She values virtue over looks, plan wars and anticipates an
enemy’s moves better than her husband, King Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor)
She has a strong devotion toward him.
The film's final stretch with a dramatic act of a ritual,"Jauhar".

She makes the film her own in every scene she gets.

Overall, it's a good movie.Worth watching.
The movie is visually beautiful with excellent editing
and some good acting.

yes, along with the gods is good fun.

pretty good special effects... u also get a bit of matrix's neo, harry potter, LOTR and even stephen chow's "lollipop"! biggrin.gif

but maybe movie is a bit too long, dragged on a bit.

the ending appears to allude to a sequel. 3.5.

You Were Never Really Here (2018)
Scottish writer-director: Lynne Ramsay(2015-Jane Got a Gun)
Stars: Joaquin Phoenix-(2000-Gladiator,2005-Walk the Line,
2012-The Master), Ekaterina Samsonov, Judith Roberts.

Based on a 90-page novella by Jonathan Ames.
Joe(Joaquin Phoenix) a Gulf War veteran and one-time federal agent,
supports himself and his ailing mom (Judith Roberts)working
as a hitman and makes living finding girls who have been
kidnapped by sex traffickers.

He is quiet, looking aged beyond his years by a bushy
mountain man beard. His past as a little boy physically abused,
as was his mother, by a violent father.
Killing is taking its toll and haunted by grief and tormented
by thoughts of suicide.

His boss distracts him with a new job, sends him in search of
Nina (Ekaterina Samsonov), the 13-year-old daughter of
Sen. Albert Votto (Alex Manette)who have been kidnapped by sex traffickers.

The senator urges him to be brutal.
And his preferred weapon of choice is a ball hammer.

The film will return to his past again and again.
Dropping hints that help you fill in the blanks
about who exactly Joe is.
Considering the state of Joe’s mind, the film never lets you too
close or too connected.

There is bloodshed in the film, but most take place off-camera.
Good score from Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood.
Impressive direction from Ms. Lynne Ramsay and Phoenix's performance.

Just a little short of a masterfully-made thriller movie.
I think there's much editing for the last closing 15 to 20 minutes,
hope to see a director's cut version. If there's is one later.
