Anyone here used castrol edge fully syn?

Any review?

Am trying Castrol edge 5W-30 for the first time. Have done 2kkm since oil change. Seems normal, noting special about this oil.

Hi sifus,

Read up recently on the GTL process and my car is due for its oil change soon. So wanted to get the helix ultra 0w30 to try it out

Been searching high and low, tesco, aeon, shell stations, i am unable to find such viscosity being sold. 5w40 is common, yet i understand the 0w30 have been launched for some time.

Any idea where i may get it?

Btw, 5w40 pureplus are having promotion @ tesco & shell stations now.

Hi I have some stock for shell helix ect 0w30..RM 200/4l

I've been using Castrol Edge 5w/40 for both my car Elantra 1.8 and Starex Turbo Diesel 2.5 for the past 5 years now. Only change the oil once a year for both cars, average mileage 12,000/year. But I change the oil filter for every six month.

I am really pleased with the Edge, both cars running well, smooth acceleration. My driving style is aggressive, speeding most of the time and always taking over other cars, so I would say the engine need good protection, and Edge has surpassed my expectation.

Sometimes I've thought to try LM but the price is just too much, my Starex would need 8 litres and that'll be RM500!

Anyway if you ask me about Edge, I would say it's a very good oil!

I would recommend using Duron-E synthetic 10w40 for your Starex diesel.
8L RM400.00

In regards to drain interval, most users make it 15-20k. You can stick to 12k as well if you wish.

Though the odometer indicated 7,500 used mileage, the engine oil actually covered more than that as most of the time I'm stuck in traffic jam.
*
If you stuck in bad traffic most of the time then you fall into severe usage category. Check your car handbook it should have stated the service interval under severe condition.

Currently using Pulzar SS 10w40, little bit noisy and rough sound during running compared to ENEOS SS 10w40 (even already 8k mileage). No to cheap EO?

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy oil for my brother's Toyota Altis 1.6 2006. He's been using Magnatec S/Syn 10W-40 but he had difficulties to get time to change oil within suggested interval. Now he is closing to 8,500k since last oil change.

I plan to get him Aisin 5W-30 Fully Syn (without Ester) as it might give him better OCI and the shop sells it bundle with genuine toyota oil filter. Anyone tried this EO before, is it recommended?

Thanks in advance

Been using Shell and Castrol fully syn for a long time.

A friend of mine always buys Bardahl (hope i spelled it correctly) for the last 7 yrs on his 2 cars, and seems to be fine as well.

Wonder why bardhal is much cheaper to others and any review by users here?

Bardahl is not really well known major oil brand that's why price cannot be as high. Quality should be decent enough la, never really heard any major complaints but I personally have never tried it also.

Nothing too special about Aisin 5w30, The oil is very thin/watery at cold even after 9k km usage. It does not get dark easily. Not sure if it is due to low detergent/additive or it just don't change color easily when burnt. The oil is clear and clean which suggest it is a low additive oil. Not a bad oil after all.

You're right, the Magnatec can be found at most hypermarkets but the problem is not trying to find the oil. Its trying to get time to actually do the oil change. My brother is in HongKong for a few days so I'm gonna do it for him. While I'm doing so, I plan to put in oil that has longer OCI

I got the Aisin Fully Syn + Toyota Oil Filter for RM116. They also sell the oil for around RM97 without oil filter

I'm getting aisin fully 5w30 at rm105. Mind to share where did you get that?

Well the oil can definitely last for more than 10k km but I like to get the oil change between 9k to 11k whenever I'm free or sometimes depend on usage severity.

Actually, I'm buying mine from Lazada. Here's the link to the item without oil filter Aisin 5W30 Fully Synthetic , the price there is RM106.90 with shipping RM6.00 its gonna be RM112.90 but I hang out at LYN's Lazada thread also. We share vouchers where we can get it. There is a voucher you can use to get RM15 off for purchases over RM100 (excluding shipping). Voucher Lists - use EZBACK voucher to get the RM15 off

So in total its gonna be RM106.90 + RM6.00 = RM112.90 - RM15 = RM97.90, with shipping to your doorstep smile.gif

Note: Can refer to the picture of my purchase, I bought the RM125+RM6 (shipping) bundled with Toyota oil filter, used voucher to get RM116 in the end

Is this Aisin Full Synthetic really fully synthetic? I'm skeptical with the unreasonable low price.
Well the user may say it's very smooth very fuel saving according to butt dyno... I just laughed at it
Yeah it may perform very well, perhaps for the first 5k km maybe. But given the cheap cost, apa lagi lu mau, right?
