Why want to waste time like this? If you can't hit the target and the spending, better don't apply.

Don't think is wasting time at all. Just to optimize the card that is more customer friendly,
Ie more flexible

Yeh, I agree. I apply for cards to maximize their benefits, but if AF too high or non-waivable such that it outweight the benefits, just cancel and apply other cards since the market is always changing. Anyway, good things don't last forever as we have seen with recent claw back on cashback cards, so its always good to take advantage when the opportunity arises.

Let's see, you are saying that using this card to get rm88 a month then if cannot get AF waived will cancel the card while hoping they will waive it. So the actual cash back is rm506 which is 2.39% a month even if they refuse to waive it.
Indeed it does make sense.
How come I never think of this? All my effort wasted for engaging a heavy TNB spender and convince him he no need to waste time on post office to pay his rm3000 bill just to get the AF waived.
*
My principle of getting a useful card even if it has AF, use first and think later. Usually first year is free AF. biggrin.gif

Yes, you are right, then get butthurt and make hell of noise when they refuse to give AF waiver.
Maybe some feel it do make sense by burning a forest just to protect a grass but for me I won't do like this.
*
I'm not that type of person for sure. biggrin.gif
When I sign up a card with AF, I will expect to pay for AF. If it waives for me, then a bonus for me. If not, I have two choices either I pay for the AF or just cancel it.

Why 2.39%? It is 5% for MBB VS and 6% for PBB VS. Why have to pay annual fee? If they don't waive, I just cancel. After that reapply again few months later, so it's another year of free annual fee

I don't and never pay any bank that charge annual fee. There are always alternative cards in the market that offer free annual fee. Don't let the bank take us for granted

Well, I'll make sure I can hit that requirement for free AF before I apply. Or make sure the cash back gained are worth to offset the AF.
Suggest redo the maths before keep on saying MBB's VS are giving you 5% if you need to pay the AF.
*
My position is very clear, no annual fee, so no need to include. Why pay annual fee when others can provide free?

First year free is good enough, every benefit is prone for revision and removal. Hence like my signature says "enjoy the best, expect the worst". laugh.gif

I hope I can join you guys soon.. sad.gif

Aiks... My cancellation seem "successful" when I was expecting someone to call me and offer waiver like previous comment posted by a forumer.

My request was sent via email ...

After that 3 days later I tweet @mymaybank to follow up...

Someone called and suggested I use my TP points in signature card before cancel as the TP is not transferable to other card.

Then suddenly he told me my card status is cancelled and he assisted me to try redeem the TP...

The TP is used for Aeon vouchers and will be send to my address in 2 to 3 weeks time.

Bye Signature

The 5% cb for petrol & groceries cap at RM88 is good.
If supp card gets additional 88 would be even better (juz wishful thinking).
Will give the application a try 😊

The point is, you still need to pay the AF. Which you never answer how to work around with this.
*
Why does he need to pay for AF since he will cancel it after a year? First year's AF is free, second year is chargeable but he will cancel it by then if it is not waived.
So long you don't spend after AF is charged, you don't need to pay for it.
