i believe we need to rely on 3G or wifi signal when we inside the building...gps signal cannot reach u already...

Yeah true. But still, GPS is unnecessary in the building. Unless you want to know your exact location and to tell ur friend where you are or just want to check maps. Else, its quite useless.

Is it possible the update wipe out the 3G setting in the phone. If yes, maybe re-downloading it from maxis support site but be an option?

I have notice in order to get notification, the app must be running background. If you kill the app then will got no notification. Example games CoC and Telegram app that i use. Is this normal? Any way to change that? I test with galaxy nexus even if the app (Telegram) not running background still can receive notification.

I think so. Last time I root my Android phone. Auto Kill the Msg apps with Greenify. And I can't get SMS at all but sometimes get when I open the apps. After few weeks only realised.

So this is the limitation of MIUI right... I used stable my rom btw. It that the same with dev rom. I just hope the next update will solve this issue.

Call duration? So far havent made a long one. Can't tell if mine has this problem. I'd say stick with JB at the moment. Don't dare to turn off my GPS now.
