Hi guys, need your advise.. should i send my car to peugeot service center or send to any workshop for repair? Got into accident today so need to fix the bumper..
My fair share on fixing the 408 bumper.Long story short I got into an accident back in Sept 2013 where right headlamp been knocked out of its clipper (headlamp clipper broken but headlamp still working), right fog lamp also knocked out of its socket and left hanging but bumper looks sturdy intact. Was advised by Peugeot to bring to SC for diagnose (of course lah kan). So SC (went to a Nasim branch) informed that Peugeot's bumper is actually stronger than other car's bumper because of its material and can withstand up to 8-10 kg (can't remember exact figure) of impact (don't know why measured in kg? but SA explaining it says it is pretty durable). So after diagnosed:
1. Need to replace right headlamp since casing and clipper all broken, so cannot mount to body anymore. Quoted RM900.
2. Need to replace front right fender also because broken. Quoted RM1900.
3. Bumper actually suffers a couple of cracks and broken clippers too, SA say can repair or replace. But then SA reminded that a repaired bumper may not be that safe anymore as it is already tempered, repairing it is more towards aesthetics compared to safety. Not sure how much SC will charge for repair because I was thinking on safety and opted for replace. Was handsomely quoted a raw bumper around RM4550.
Price quoted by Nasim is excluded of paint job and workmanship. Also begged Asli Motors (Subang Jaya) for quotation (parts only):
1. Right headlamp = RM800
2. Front right fender = RM1800
3. Bumper = RM4000
So this is my fair share, you decide to repair or not, at SC or outside, if outside will temper warranty or not. Remember to also ask SC whether they do by themselves or do they outsource it because they will take in all kind of repairs but sometimes they eventually outsource it instead.
