Hi guys, need your advise.. should i send my car to peugeot service center or send to any workshop for repair? Got into accident today so need to fix the bumper..
*
My fair share on fixing the 408 bumper.

Long story short I got into an accident back in Sept 2013 where right headlamp been knocked out of its clipper (headlamp clipper broken but headlamp still working), right fog lamp also knocked out of its socket and left hanging but bumper looks sturdy intact. Was advised by Peugeot to bring to SC for diagnose (of course lah kan). So SC (went to a Nasim branch) informed that Peugeot's bumper is actually stronger than other car's bumper because of its material and can withstand up to 8-10 kg (can't remember exact figure) of impact (don't know why measured in kg? but SA explaining it says it is pretty durable). So after diagnosed:

1. Need to replace right headlamp since casing and clipper all broken, so cannot mount to body anymore. Quoted RM900.
2. Need to replace front right fender also because broken. Quoted RM1900.
3. Bumper actually suffers a couple of cracks and broken clippers too, SA say can repair or replace. But then SA reminded that a repaired bumper may not be that safe anymore as it is already tempered, repairing it is more towards aesthetics compared to safety. Not sure how much SC will charge for repair because I was thinking on safety and opted for replace. Was handsomely quoted a raw bumper around RM4550.

Price quoted by Nasim is excluded of paint job and workmanship. Also begged Asli Motors (Subang Jaya) for quotation (parts only):

1. Right headlamp = RM800
2. Front right fender = RM1800
3. Bumper = RM4000

So this is my fair share, you decide to repair or not, at SC or outside, if outside will temper warranty or not. Remember to also ask SC whether they do by themselves or do they outsource it because they will take in all kind of repairs but sometimes they eventually outsource it instead.

Hi bro.. had hit this speed thrice.. running on Ron 97, the car feels that it could do more.. but once above 200.. its feels a bit floaty and brakes are good but steers to the left..last time when i reached this speed, i felt heat coming frm the brake and accelerator pedal, and could smell something being burnt... stopped at rnr and found that it was coming from left side of the engine bay.. as though as a burnt clutch plate or something... drove bck to house and let the car ran idle for good 3 to 4 minutes and checked the car again the next morning.. smell has gone.. refer the issue to HQ service centre.. they said the smell coming from the heat shield from the turbo... mmmmm... strange... any1 having this issue?? Plus i also experience vapour at windshield..inside the cabin from both driver and passanger side whenever i go for a carwash.. their diagnosis was, the heat from engine bay reacting with cold water causing this vapour... mmmm... is it true??? Any1 having this issues???.. adding to that, the third brake light cover had gone loose and came off... found that the bracket holding the cover has broken they actually taped the covers to make it stick.. took it to our SC in glenmarie and they said that have replaced the cover and now can hear rattling sound coming from 3rd brake light again....wow...
*
Thanks for your reply man! I did 210 a while ago and more recently hit 218 (RON 95). My ride was very stable at those speeds. It is slightly floaty at such a high speed but not enough to feel like the car was losing control. I didn't have steering to one side or smell issues. Brakes were responsive and no smells. You're right with one thing though, even at those speeds, the car feels like it's still got a lot to give!

For your third brake light, go and have them fix it bro. Mine was loose when I got the car, I could see the lights from a gap in the interior. SC put double sided tape to stop it. Then it started making the knocking sound. Just picked my car up today from another SC and the mechanic said he opened and readjusted it because it wasn't done properly. Hopefully I don't have any issues with it.

To other 408T owners: My air cond has some rubber-ish smell when turning on the compressor. Apparently this is proving to be a common issue because of some sponge and rubber piece inside the dashboard. If you face similar issue, SC should change it for you, under warranty. smile.gif

i suggest anything over RM5k you will claim your insurance OD - own damage.

no way your NCD will cost you RM5k for the next year years

value of the car keeps dropping, assuming NCD for next year is 1000, then 800, then 600, then 400, then 200.

after 5 years, NCD only makes up to RM3.2k, still lower than the RM5k cash you're going to fork out today.

The current original I found not that good even I don't park at hot sun. Got any other alternate choice?

Very hard to get a good wiper. I still remember last time I used "Champion". Is really damn good even after some time. To bad sold with the car. Now cannot get bad.

Hi guys.

My 408T is 8months old. Today I encoutered problem with air conditioning. It was not cold and keeps blowing hot air even the adjustment been made to the lowest temperature. I've checked the AC light was on.

It was back to normal after 15 mins of driving. I suspected it may due to the temperature sensor problem.

Quite worried as I have no idea when would it happen again as it is nightmare to drive without aircond in Malaysia. shakehead.gif

Did anyone experience the same issue before?

Appreciate if any sifu knows what is the problem!

Thanks biggrin.gif

time to drive in and replace the cooling coil

temp sensor regulates the engine, not the air conditioning

I had an accident damage almost like yours.
I try to avoid hitting the front car when it applied emergency brakes due to
another car infront of it made a emergency break.

I felt like the ABS didn't kick in well, or probably I was too close.
My damage looked very minor that you can't spot the dent and scratch from a distance.

I got a shock when the SC quoted the price. Because it was under warranty,
parts will be replaced. I am fine with that as long as it was the way it looked before.

Front grill & no plate cracked, right fender dent & head light brackets broken,
scratch mark all the way from front right fender all the way through both right doors.
Front right tyre slightly chipped and wheels lightly scratch.

The whole replacement going to cost the insurance company RM30k.
I had a shock hearing this.
I realize 408 parts doesn't come in cheap.

Guys, always drive safely and keep a distance from the car infront.

Sorry to hear that about your accident. But last time I bang on divider and bumper cam out and the bumper bracket was broken. As usual I though Peugeot car part is very expensive and difficult to find, so I my friends so call distributor (Peugeot Club) help me to find. He quote me RM700++ and other guy ask me to claim insurance. Then I was shock. Since he is distributor and doesn't repair car, so I look around for car repair shop. I manage to find one around my area in Bukit Antarabangsa and he quote me all inclusive bumper bracket (RM250), repair the body kits (plastic was broken) and paint include other stone hit, labor for RM700. Repair job work are good and done within less then 3 hour.

Since after that, I never contacted so call friends. I believe he just try to cons people around and never really a distributor. Even though sometime all quite pain when this happen to our lovely car, I highly recommended survey before getting the deal.

I think he will charge it higher price and try to claim from insurance. Is opposite (near to Mosque) cross junction near to Bukit Perdana exits. The first shop which sell tyre, repair and paint. I forgotten name the shop. But they don't keep Peugeot part, the back to back order the stuff or call directly. Maybe I find back the receipt if I could find.

Need advice.
This coming 7th June will marks the 3rd month without driving Pug. Something about the 'cock' up that Peugeot has made, got me frustrated and helpless.
Parts ordered ETA 29 Apr and fixing should be complete by end of May (i.e 31st).
Then got a rude shock that ETA was bumped further into the future 29th July 2015.

Ipoh Service Mgr, notified me to ask me to call C/S of Naza. Yes, getting the customer to raise his voice with C/S. And miraculously now ETA by 7th June.
Svr Manager re-re-assured me by 17th June 2015 will get back my car like how he first said mid May then end of May. cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

There is nothing I can do but complain, unless any brother here can advise.

Total parts change 41.
Total cost to fix : initially 6xK then adjuster correct it to 5xK (i wonder SvrMgr makan how much).

Believe the insurance company agreed on the cost.
Just that the SC cant get the parts to do their job.
