did u ask ALL the honda owners out there? anyway, bigger disks and pads means more chances to catch sand compared to puny 230mm disks on the class Bs u mentioned.
my other car, another class B has this problem too.
when sound appears, wait for the disk to cool down and flush it with a lot of water. check again if it squeaks.
or maybe a rat is hiding in your car?
i did that many times, the sound came back just after what it feels like the brakes are warmed up. also, I've sat in and driven cars that has bigger brakes somemore their rims are a lot dustier, but they dont seem to have the screeching sound

2 Reason where the sound came from. 1. You never wash your car

2. The brake pads is time to change. I think most Peugeot car owner here with original brake pads will have the same problem. Dust! Really thick dust. More then sufficient for you to write something on it. Every time I wash it with my car washer machine, the sound will goes off. After 1 week, it will came back. Original Toyota and Honda brake pads is softer, smaller, response slower and doesn't work on high temperature (not build for high speed and weight). The Peugeot 408 Turbo (1450 kg) weight are almost same as Camry 2.0 (1,480 kg). I guess they remove a lot metal without you knowing. I not try to be buyer, I own a few Toyota before. For for Peugeot owner, I guess you always welcome over speed limit summon. Until now, I am very scared to get caught by over limit.
Peugeot brake is harder. If you have join "Peugeot Experience Driver" then you will know. Hardly people will slam the brake 100% and you see hazard light turn on during the slam. If you want that noise remove. Very easy, change to softer brake pads. But this going goes off faster and scarified the performance. One of good example, try to listen how does a bus brake.
I wash my car weekly

and i dont think its the pads because the car is just 5 months old and i;m not driving it as if its a race car.
i also heard that peugeot brakes is a little different from other(i forgot softer or harder

). But my concern here is, There isn't any screeching on the test drive car when i tested it before i bought the car. The test drive car wasn't dirty but neither is it clean (u can see the rims have lots of dust). There was a 508 that i tested that was way dirtier than the 408 don't even have the screeching sound. So how come my car has it?
So the screeching noise is normal to peugeot? and no permanent solution to it?
