Hey guys! Got my Borrasque Blue 408TE 2 months ago.

Enjoying the drive so far. First inspection up tomorrow, only issue I've had is today when my driver window made a noise when going back up. I think it was grinding against the rubber. Other than that, nothing noteworthy except that my passengers keep sliding off the seats because of the new leather lol.. One thing I've noticed, this car seems prone to picking up road debris, I'm assuming its because of the aerodynamic design and the bodykit..

Also, my fuel stats (i saw posts earlier):
- 7.4L/100km @120km/h cruise control (on h/way, 150km distance)
- 7.7L/100km @130km/h CC, same route
- My average for 2.3k km's is 10.0L but thats probably because i get stuck in traffic everyday sad.gif

Out of curiousity, what is the top speed of this Pug?

I thought from the howstuffwork, side curtain airbag suppose to protect rear seated passengers because front already have 4 airbags. Anyway, if a childseat was fitted properly at the back (in reverse of course), then bag like that jialat le?

I'm considering the total loss claim, banged up like that  may not feel like it was once new b4. Yes it could be fix but it'll be different after.

Fixed up and sell also another effort to list and nego. Furthermore puspakom sure stamp kereta accident on the registration card.

What would you guys do if you were in this position?

Hey dude, first thing: it's good to know you and your wife were uninjured in that accident.

Secondly, I think the answer to your question depends mostly on if the car was a long term investment or not. If it was, then I reckon you should get it repaired and continue using it, assuming that things like your transmission, drive shaft and axle are not seriously damaged based on the images.

P/s: to an extent, I agree with you that "it'll be different after" but this car saved you, your wife and your future kid. If it was me, my confidence in terms of safety would grow knowing that even if a car whack me until their engine hancur, my family is safe. smile.gif

Don't worry bro, 41 is normal. The coolant temp I suggest you do a quick check to make sure they're at the right level. Perhaps consider monitoring the decrease in coolant levels for leaks (if any). The needle should not go over 90. Haven't had my car for long time but I'm frequently in bad traffic jams and on the highway, I really REALLY make my pug fly. Some cars do go up slightly higher so generally don't need to worry TOO much. If it's a very small increase or a slow increase, usually minor issue. If the needle spikes very quickly, then you have a big problem.. smile.gif

To everyone else: the 408T supposedly has electronically limited top speed of 215km/h right? has anyone hit this speed or gone beyond?

Hi bro.. had hit this speed thrice.. running on Ron 97, the car feels that it could do more.. but once above 200.. its feels a bit floaty and brakes are good but steers to the left..last time when i reached this speed, i felt heat coming frm the brake and accelerator pedal, and could smell something being burnt... stopped at rnr and found that it was coming from left side of the engine bay.. as though as a burnt clutch plate or something... drove bck to house and let the car ran idle for good 3 to 4 minutes and checked the car again the next morning.. smell has gone.. refer the issue to HQ service centre.. they said the smell coming from the heat shield from the turbo... mmmmm... strange... any1 having this issue?? Plus i also experience vapour at windshield..inside the cabin from both driver and passanger side whenever i go for a carwash.. their diagnosis was, the heat from engine bay reacting with cold water causing this vapour... mmmm... is it true??? Any1 having this issues???.. adding to that, the third brake light cover had gone loose and came off... found that the bracket holding the cover has broken they actually taped the covers to make it stick.. took it to our SC in glenmarie and they said that have replaced the cover and now can hear rattling sound coming from 3rd brake light again....wow...

Thanks for your reply man! I did 210 a while ago and more recently hit 218 (RON 95). My ride was very stable at those speeds. It is slightly floaty at such a high speed but not enough to feel like the car was losing control. I didn't have steering to one side or smell issues. Brakes were responsive and no smells. You're right with one thing though, even at those speeds, the car feels like it's still got a lot to give!

For your third brake light, go and have them fix it bro. Mine was loose when I got the car, I could see the lights from a gap in the interior. SC put double sided tape to stop it. Then it started making the knocking sound. Just picked my car up today from another SC and the mechanic said he opened and readjusted it because it wasn't done properly. Hopefully I don't have any issues with it.

To other 408T owners: My air cond has some rubber-ish smell when turning on the compressor. Apparently this is proving to be a common issue because of some sponge and rubber piece inside the dashboard. If you face similar issue, SC should change it for you, under warranty. smile.gif

Hi, have you guys encounter screeching noise from the brakes?
My car is only five months old. took the car to SC they say they have checked and resolve the problem. However the screeching noise came out again just after a few days. I don't think the brake pads are worn off since its just a five months old car. I suspect that the SC did not really resolve the problem, they just tried to clean the brakes as i noticed that the wheels were wet when i get my car back.
Any advice? as i will be visiting SC next week for 10k service and will raise the problem again to them. The Screeching noise is very annoying mad.gif

I had the same issue, I'm about 5 months into my car as well. SC changed my brake discs (covered under warranty) because the surface was uneven. My pads were supposedly in good shape. I've hit very high speeds after the change and have not had any sounds since. Driving around normally does seem to produce A LOT of brake dust, so give it a quick rinse every once in a while anyway.

To the rest, SC Service Manager suggested using original Peugeot brake pads. He claims that some of his customers have gone on to using other brands but they tend to perform worse. Apparently 408T isn't very welcoming of non-Peugeot parts.

Agree with you. Nowadays i saw a lot of people drive kaw2 straight afyer get the car keys. For the sake of testing. The engine may be run in by the factory but other part may not. It os important to take care the first 500-1000 km.

My lion is 8 month old and dont have any brake sound since day 1.
However rattling sound after 140km/hr still there rclxub.gif

I had some kind of rattling coming from my rear door at 50-60km/h (sounds like someone knocking on metal). SC opened up my door panel and the door handle (on the inside) was loose. Mechanic stuck on some tape and secured the handle. The entire panel cover was also a little loose so I'm supposed to go back when they get some clips. I had SC add some sponge inside the door panel for additional sound proofing - it's helped! smile.gif

Still planning need to schedule a date to get this thing solve.
The smell not always come out la .. just some time some time like that ...

I have the smelly sponge issue too. Waiting for SC to receive the part. The SC manager said 3 days but mechanic said if do fast can finish in one day. I'd rather let them keep for three days because if they screw up with re-installation of dashboard then big problem liao..

Went up to KL last week, nothing much happened except after Seremban, a Passat wanted to play around. So,I played along as I was bored & it was 1 a.m.,not much traffic. Then suddenly, a flash goes off and I looked at the Passat driver as we are alongside each other and we both smiled like idiots as we both know, abis, kena tangkap gambar oredi.

Taking a lesson from this, the journey back to johor was within 110km/h all the way. Well, most of it la. This is for all the fc lovers out there. Filled up at sg besi and exited at ayer hitam toll.

your FC is almost half of mine! so far my highway runs (@130km/h) is still averaging 9.5L+/100 sometimes 10L+. going in for my first 10k km service this weekend. hope the FC improves!

I've recently gone for my 20k km service. the fc did improve after my first 10k km service so yours should too. for someone whose nick is speed demon,i think you are one sensible demon, doing 130km/h. tongue.gif

Lol. My fuel economy does seem a little better after the service. My pug frequently crosses over 200km/h so it needs a tame 130km/h long distance run every once in a while just so I know all the parts are still intact! wink.gif
