Some preview for hard working Malaysian.
* Fuel subsidy further reduce, prices change based on income levels, vehicle types and engine capacities.
* Reduce subsidy for essential food items, such as flour, cooking oil and household gas
* 6% GST as we all known
* BR1M increase, how many of us will benefit from it?
* Minimum wages increase, scare off foreign investor, more job loss?
* Increase of RPGT

* Lower corporate and personal taxes

That's how Malaysia pay back hard working Malaysian biggrin.gif
*

Some of our basic or essential necessities are zero rated under GST.

Some of them are GST exempted.

What is the difference? Don't ask me, please summon an accountant.

here's a general idea biggrin.gif

GST exemption is fully non-taxable supplies (goods or services) <-- i.e. no tax levied from manufacturer-to-consumer (end-to-end)

Zero-Rated GST is taxable supplies of goods or services but rated at 0% <-- meaning, to normal consumers, we dont need to pay. However, GST is still applicable at every stage of the supply chain except to consumer. This is more impact to manufacturers, retailers, service providers, etc.

nett nett to consumers, we hope to get as much items under exemption or zero-rated GST cuz we dont want to pay GST at the first place! thumbup.gif

Zero rated is better than exempted. For zero rated the GST input from manufacturer can be claimed back hence effectively no GST incurred in the whole chain.
However for exempted items, retailer cannot charge GST to consumer and also cannot claim back GST during the input stage. So retailer has to mark up its prices to reflect it.
Funny but its true.

no difference if you just going to use it for 5% cb on weekends and 5x tp. if you insist, you may try to upgrade after 6 months.

well..... I guess I m just obsessed with the name platinum sad.gif
I am currently a CIMB Cash back Platinum card user and obviously I thought I can get Maybankard 2 amex platinum too, I guess I am wrong.

I did asked the CS if I can get an upgrade after 6 months, her reply is as long as my income did not meet the requirement, I am not eligible for it.

Right now they have promotion for the Rm100 cashback, I don't think I will hit the requirement by the end of the promotion too.
