this k618 uses the w810's lcd, quite bright i would say, and yeah no af, no led

I think I saw this model displayed in one of the Sony Ericsson outlet in KLCC yesterday. Didnt see the price though, but the physical outlook seems solid & bulky, feel even thicker thana K800i. Emmm....

went to klcc sony ericsson shop (near sonystyle.. sonystyle still dun have k618i tho).. selling for rm1499 but only in black then went next door (hello station i think) and also selling k618i in black only (was told by the shop assistant jimmy that white may not come as a lot of complaints that the white casing turns yellowish overtime).. selling at rm1299 for a midland unit... why diff of rm200? no idea.. k618i looks nice (not much diff from k610i) and refreshing to most nokia's i've used.. decided not to purchase k618i after introduced to nokia's 6280 and n73 but in the end 6280 won due to lag in the n73.. juz need a simple phone anyways.. |

well i agree with iRonTech, K618i can't compare with W800i as it is future proof for 2-3 years at least... but W800i duno can tahan how long... coz 3G is becoming more commonly used ... I hope 3G wif maxis will reach Ipoh soon... so i can take their package... Penang also have some problem... can't get 3G line near my place...  |

Just bought it at Lowyat last saturday. Seems that AP set is not available anywhere, so i bought the original.
Even the ori set price differs a lot between shops (rm1080-1299). I got mine at rm 1080 ori set. Set bundled together with 256M2 stick. So far no hang and interface response is ok. Display is brilliant. The phone looks cool bcoz of the black and orange design. No cracking sound when squeezed and casing feels solid. Music player got equalizer but no mega bass(not w series) Batery life not sure coz still new. M2 located at the side and can hot swap. Bat can be charged using usb using transfer mode or phone mode. if using transfer mode, the phone acts like a thumbdrive, phone function (calls) is switched off. if phone mode, u can use the phone function but cannot transfer files. |

coz it is not a music phone so you expect HPM-70 in the bundle... buy if you need it... as now it is quite cheap also... |

the k618i is a bit thicker than k610i. not sure about the price for ori set now.. as not many of them carry authorised distributor's set at this moment, even the w850i also.. all AP set at sg wang / low yat.
i got the k610i instead today, for sleeker n classic look at 1070 (thorus set v 64m2, a mini football, screen protector and compatible stereo handfree), so i think k618i will be around 1.1k-1.2k+ for ori set. hmm.. comparing both.. imho, k610i feel more sturdy,maybe due to its sleeker industrial design?.. don't get me wrong that k618i is not solid.. it's solid.. atleast better than my W810i ( u know the creaky sound when light pressure apply on the back case).. also... k618i is using d-pad not joystick.. almost similar to w810i with illuminator surrounding the navigator (the round thingy). hope this help. yes. 3 of them are the same.
different between v630 and k618i are just the ID design and the firmware. (v630 has a rebranded firmware specifically for vodafone) 3 phones have the same mechanical design, only hv different the outer shell. conclusion, if u want full multimedia phone comparing w810 n k61x series, get w810.. cox it has better screen display (brighter), better speaker (louder), better camera (AF n bigger lense,sharp image produced) and u need EDGE connectivity (no 3G). if u want a small,sleek n light 3G phone (89g), with some average value-added features, get k61x... for the price u pay, it's well worth. and.. i think SE is getting freaky stingy nowadays... their new phones all packed with freaky small boxset. hello... did u guys know how small the K610i box is? for a rm1k+ phone.. i tot we deserved better quality packaging. hmm... it's even smaller than motorola L6 box man! and also... new SE J-series phones... much much more smaller. hmm.. from what i understand, all boxset got to be sent to be market in europe countries would need to use environmental friendly (aka recycle-able) materials, this is a strict rule to follow internationally, as long as it's recyclable materials (plastic or paper), it will be fine. i'm pretty sure about this, cox i was v 1 of the phone makers previously.

cant' give u a solid battery consumption on k610i yet.. as i just got it yesterday. but it's been over 12 hr after my last charge, the battery bar still showing 90-80%, i hv make a couple of calls (abt 20 in total), abt 30 sms sent, did the OTA firmware online update over maxis 3G.
just wondering, ur fren got an AP set or Ori? did his battery swapped with compatible type? (u know some shop swap the battery to compatible type to crunch the price) |

ori set support chinese input and display. AP set.. i don't think so.. the cheapest i asked was rm835 no chines input. if u want chinese input/display u will need to top up another rm50, they will flash it for u. (but it's board dependant, some can be flashed while some were not) that's why i got the ori set. peace of mind |

I went to Low Yat this afternoon and i saw the promotion by one of the stalls who were selling ori k610 with free headset and free 256mb m2 card for about Rm 1300.
The offer was quite tempting as the K618i at Rm 1388 had a free 256 M2 card but no adapter to convert m2 to standard memory stick where as for k610 they offered it wth the converter |

I got mine from them, and before this.. my ori K600i and ori Nokia E61 also i got from them, they are very fair in offering price. alot of free gifts too hope this help. |

for this time being, around the burget of RM1200~1400 and a good complete 3G phone, i think n70 still the king. Not that i fancy nokia or what, i really want to get a SE phone, but their low budget 3G phone all dont have flash... WTH is wrong with SE?
Any of you guys can give me a SE phone that is around that price and yet is a 3G phone with a flash camera? |

found out an annoying bug in de k618 firmware yesterday. it failed to record incoming calls history. made a trip to the service centre and get it flashed/upgraded to fix the bug.
b4 that, called them n they said its not advisable to flash de firmware yourself (anything wrong will void the warranty). is that true? better be safe than sorry lo... i guess. |

of cos k800 nicer..more expensive.. but for me k618 is not ugly. its a very good phone wh alot of good features. value for money. its ok to give negative oppinions we are open here..but to say its ugly..not so nice ler..can always say..it doesnt look that nice for me..u know..u dont go around saying someones 'gf' is ugly straight to his face right?

yeap... tried it again this afternoon, and tat salesman shown me the photo taken by k800i and this phone, juz it's colour not tat sharp... but the price at seremban quite 'unreasonable' as he quoted rm 1390 for midland while someone else selling midland for rm1100+ in garage sales... sigh...

I've got a question....is the screen protector suppose to fit the whole screen size or only the viewable portion of the screen? I bought the k610i sp for my k618i earlier as it was damn cheap RM8 in Carrefour...but it doesn't fit the whole thing but I though k610i lcd screen is exactly the same size as the k618i, right?

battery consumption still excellent even though i used it as an mp3 player...
i always used it to listen to music while driving via hands free, at least 1 hour everday). and the battery lasted me 3 - 4 days. but there's a small bug with the OS though.After i used the music player, the send sms screen bg turned black (by default its white/greyish). Since the text I will be typing is black, I cant see what I'm typing. have to restart de phone once in a while if this happen. |

yea, that's right. right button. sometimes it works, but when it works it seems like the phone lags behind my action.you know what i mean? like lets say i press the right button...only after more than 4 or 5 seconds the menu pop out. but most of the time the button doesn't work anymore and the menu comes out anytime it wants

if you buy Original i think you better get back to SE center...
please don put ur phones wif others things.. this may cause problem to ur D-pad... 1st case for the D-pad i think.. no one complain about that... try send back to SE center n ask them to replace one for you.. |

I guess the supported video format is 3GPP, I have played a few of my movies converted to 3GPP, not bad, pretty smooth and watchable. I just got my hp two weeks ago. I like it, it's more responsive and user friendly than my old K700i last time. Hahaha. Great hp, especially the orange lights in the middle. Cool

k618i can support mp4 format as well.... for easy mp4 conversion just use NERO RECODE.. adjust bitrate to <400 for smooth playback
noticed something with the camera, i CANT zoom when using normal mode... anyone else with the same prob or it's just me ? |

I've just ordered a crystal casing with valenlim. Seemed to be the only one with it here. Anyway did u all know the you might have to settle for the V630i (the Vodaphone version of T618i) for searching on the net for themes. like the myV630 site

well if digital zoom it is zooming at the particular sie down from the Ori pixel...
jus like enlarge the portion that you can 2 zoom... so comes to VGA resolution wen you zoom maximum allowed by a 3.2MP camera phone... 4X from 2.0MP camera phone |

My cousin just got this lovely phone today.
As her UPSR reward from the parents, kids nowadays But, she really put in lots of efforts to get this phone. After helping her surveying here and there, from SE Z610i to SE W710i then to SE W810i, finally she chose SE K618i! Also, helped her to buy from one of the forumers here. She's so happy holding it! Compared it with my sister's SE W810i, it's so much lighter and thinner. Nice phone! |

Seriously now, anyone find the battery life too short? Today the batt habis again and it was only 36 hrs since the last full charge, this is something! I search all over the internet and cldn't find the spec on battery life, all the review sites are silent about the battery life. Anyone? |

Ehhh ....... my K618i can last 3 days with averagely over 2 hours of talking time. How come yours lasted 2 days only? You always sms, ar? The colour screen will drain the battery, if you're always on sms or playing games on it. If not, poor reception will cause your hp to work harder, that causes power drain too.

No I didn't play games with it but I do play with the settings, menu and download upload files with bluetooth all day long lah, heheh
Lazy to use USB cable. I suppose if I stop fiddling with the phone the batt can last longer. The MPE software also monitors the phone setting n battery in the background so i think there is bluetooth transmission going on all day while it is connected to my PC. Or maybe I didn't set the Powersave Mode in Bluetooth setting on? Powersave OFF is only needed when we use more than 1 BT device. Is yours On or Off? I just have this nagging suspicion the dealer didn't give me a new battery or the battery is no good. |

Hmm ...... sounds weird, just worried that the dealer might swap the original battery with a fake one, if possible, asked someone to check whether the battery is genuine or not. As far as I know, my K618i gave me a very good standby and talk time and FYI, the battery used for this model is a high capacity one so battery drain shouldn't be a problem.

You can probably reduce the bitrates for the video and audio for mp4 and 3gp files. A proper encoder will allow you to do so. I noticed my P900i could play mp4 movies are high bitrates and at 30 fps per second but not so on my K618, I have to reduce the bitrates by half and at 15 fps beceause the movies will play smoothly. Weird, eh? Could it be due to the fact that P900i has a built in processor?

.3gp files try to adjust the bitrate lower.. for /mp4 also same lor so the video wont hang when ur watching it.. normally my video only 15fps..

The lense in K618i is not that great.
If u take a scenery photo and blow it up on a monitor screen to the actual size of 2MP, u can see detail definition is poor, trees leaves, especially pine trees will become blurred. Compare that to a proper camera or even a camerafon with proper optics(like those phones Zeiss or Leica lenses) and u'll see the difference. As I suspected, when MyPhoneExplorer is on, it monitors the phone actively for incoming calls, SMSs, and keeps track of batt level on the PC, so the bluetooth on the phone is always connected to PC and transmitting constantly ,the bluetooth icon on the phone will show that. When MPE is off, the standby time increased a few folds, using only 5-10% of batt life over 24 hrs instead of >50% batt life during work hours with MPE on. I prefer not to connect by USB as USB ports on my laptop is limited and not very stable due to some reason, will get the laptoon fixed then only will use MPE actively. |

Anyway it depends whether yours is an AP or Ori set. AP sets will loose more for sure but my advice, keep it, it's not a bad hp after all, just that the camera is below average but overall, it's a good hp. Don't you agree with me?

Just select K610i, it works for my K618i, I know it's not stated in the Maxis website but I have successfully browse the web and made a few 3G video calls. It's not big deal actually. Don't panic.

I try the k610i setting... it work on 3G but not mms... i even had the maxis customer service to set up my k618i over the phone manually, still not working... should i just go to maxis centre and ask the expert to do it?

If you K618i is an AP set, try checking default MMS profile, make sure the Maxis MMS profile is selected I have no problems with my hp and yes, you can go to Maxis MASA centres for help or go back to the shop where you bought your hp.

Same here only the 3G settings are working but the regular got problem connecting. But I guess it doesn't matter coz I think since 3G GPRS n MMS is working ma...... I heard that when no 3G it will auto-downgrade to 2.5G.

It will switch between 2G and 3G depending on the availability of the signal in the area that you're using your hp. Funny thing Maxis doesn't support Edge, it will be cool if a network has 2G, 2.5G and 3G altogether.

Just bought one also. White colour. I would say i am quite satisfied with it. Should be a big leap from my previous n7250 phone. I was planning to buy either k610i/n70 but ending up buying this lovely phone.
I would say it is better to buy this phone over k610 since K610 only offers 64mb memory but this phone offers 256Mb M2 as standard without much difference in price. |

No wor, during the Maxis 3G roadshow recently, they always perli that 3G is 10 times faster than Edge, I doubt that they support Edge, maybe DiGi only. The only silly company to use Edge.

I think Maxis does have EDGE coz my sister's Motorola v3x does show the 2.5G icon when there is no 3G. BTW that phone have 2G, 2.5G and 3G icons

Ya la.. I remembered last time they only charged me to upgrade from 32kb to 64kb simcard at Maxis service centre. Should be no problem using 3G using those 64kb simcard. But I am still waiting for those activation sms!

No matter how cheap its still not worth it cause I already pay for the internet at home. There is nothing that is so urgent that have to surf with phone or waste money to play with maxis wap cause the info is nothing to shout about. What I like is the email function but unfortunately I have to pay extra $$ as its not included in the package.

BTW if you on Torrent or wat we call peer to peer download it will hurt the connection speed of the network... i mean the whole near ur place...haha... wat to do... a lot ppl doing so... |

hi everyone,i am new here... just got my k618i last 2 weeks ago n this is my 1st SE phone... i got a questions,how to update the software by internet coz i haven activated my 3G or even GPRS...
2nd question,as pel said,k618i can support video ringtone but i have try it 2day... after set the mp4 as my ringtone n use my fren phone to call my fon,my fon ring but just have audio no video... n then my fon hang... i mean after i hang up the call(from my fren fon),my fon still ringing... after a while then only it stop ringing but all the button include off button not functioning n i have to remove the battery to reset the phone... anyone have this problem? You can toggle the screen size from the options, whether horizontal or vertical. I guess that's what you meant, right?

Guys, I manage to test the update function for the hphone. But it says my phone is using the latest software already. All u have to do is enable the gsm/3G network in connection settings and look for a place that have 3G network. An icon on the will appear if there's 3G coverage on the top right corner beside the signal indicator. No wonder it didn't work b4. I dont have any 3G coverage in my area.

Each time I save new contacts to my phone, it hangs for a while but if I stored another number immediately after the first, no such problem. The frustrating part is it hangs for 15s which is damn looong. Anyone experiencing the same problem?

Bougth mine white edition for RM980, a couple weeks ago. But try to look inside the forum under Handphones & Related Accessories. I saw someone selling this phone for RM950.

ouch..I found another problem with my phone.. When an unknown number miss call or i call an unknown number(not in address book), it will not be recorded in calls section, this is very very inconvenient when asking for number... =.="
Or do I need to set anything, have read everything in the settings but none related. sigh... |

I found a bug in my K618i
I am using the latest firmware R1ED001. Whenever I press 6 and 9 together (press at the same time), my phone will shutdown. This happens 8 out of 10 time whenever I try it. Just want to know if other K618i users having the same problem. |

yes, this phone has no af. and no flash. the vga camera in front can only capture pictures during vid calls.

I took the phone to maxis centre. They configure my 3G... Hence always on... Battery will last 36 hrs if I didn't listen to music or Surf the net... |
