actually i think 4k adoption is growing bigger and faster with 4k tv getting cheaper, tv are not that great compare to a monitor but some are very capable and works well for many people just as a display

i know cause im tempted, i saw a panasonic 40 inch 4k tv going less than RM2K..i seriously thinking of buying it until i remember my gpu does not have the horsepower to run it  laugh.gif

Well with a TV most GC for the last 3 years could run it at 4k@30Hz through HDMI 1.4 protocol...

Running 4k@60Hz however is limited to GC or MB that supports HDMI 2.0.... which is only Nvidia's Maxwell or some Z170 MBs... or through USB C converted to HDMI 2.0....

There's also DP to HDMI 2.0 converters.... these however are rare and expensive....

Gaming @4k would require a pair of the highest-end card at least...

Just saw Dell U2417H listed in Dell Malaysia website,  but no pricing.

Anyone already know the pricing?

thats the reason i scraped this idea getting 4k tv, my r9 280x only HDMI 1.4 and the club3d DP to HDMI 2 even if can get one doesn't guarantee to work on older cards

upcoming new gpu from nvidia and amd i think it's the right time to jump into 4k..i would if i have the moolah lol

I checked DELL Singapore website

U2414H - S$359.00
U2417H - S$429.00

The new model worth the higher price? Or just get the old model, what do you guys think?

We will need to wait for review, TFTCentral may (just "may") review this unit, they have reviewed many Dell units.
After comparing reviews to decide which model you want to get, if you can't wait, go for U2414H.

Dell E2216H (TN, DP+VGA, FHD), fit your requirement at lowest possible price?
Or go straight Dell U2414H (IPS, mDP+DP+VGA+HDMI, FHD), extra USB3 ports for convenience. wink.gif

Thanks!

E2216H looks alright while U2414H may well be over my budget.

last time you asked for U2414H vs. U2415. this is another comparison for U2417H

pay more S$70 for U2417H, and you get this higher/newer things from U2414H:
1. slimmer 0.75mm bezel design
2. 3% higher of sRGB color gamut
3. new ID (better looking for me, more convenience USB ports at side)

sRGB is not of much use to me...

Slimmer bezel and side USB... drool.gif

What I dont quite like on U2417H is the base is bigger and thicker (similar to S2216H and S2316H base), the stand is also bigger in width... sad.gif

Dual-Link DVI cable should do it if you have one.
The monitor come with DVI cables, so you can use it with your graphics card.

I believe the cable supplied is DVI Dual-link.
Should it not work as expected then you may need to buy one... which I doubt the manufacturer will done so for a monitor that going to provide such performance.

Hi guys,

Can recommend me a monitor that is/has:
- 23inch 1080p IPS panel
- 5ms(or lower) response time
- 60hz(or higher) refresh rate
- preferably uses DVI port

Mainly for streaming and movies but also some gaming.
Budget rm400-rm600(max). The cheaper the better, but then the quality be sh*ttier too... sweat.gif.

Thanks.

Hi guys, looking for a pair of screen to make a dual screen

Purpose: Programming, designing, occasional gaming, watching movies

Specs:
Resolution: 1920x1080 at least
Size: 21-23 inch (if too big, then, my desk won't fit the two screen! My desk is like 47 inch wide or 1.2m wide)
Ports: Preferably all three: VGA, DVI, HDMI
Refresh rates: 60Hz (is it enough?)
Response time: 5ms or lower

Budget: RM1k for both screens. Cheaper is better I guess...

Many thanks!
