Was slow right now, probably due to raining. For Youtube.com, I have experienced video freezing when watching since last week. Have to refresh few times. TM  doh.gif  doh.gif

i read here
Fiber Optics Are Weather Safe – Because it’s not electricity being sent through the wiring, changes in weather cannot affect the signals or information being transmitted. Rain, cold, lightning, all of these can affect traditional electrical signals but not fiber opt[SIZE=7]ics.

i tot rain cannot degrade fiber optics quality?

Guys,

isit ok speed like this ?

user posted image

FYI,

I'm subscribe 20Mbps package. living in highrise building (apartment) area petaling jaya. I dont know whats the problem. already log report to TM and their technician come change the router but the speed still the same.

isit possible that this problem related to the copper wire ?
*
Possibly... I am on VIP10 but upload speed always around 5Mbps but download is ok at 10Mbps. Could be copper wire issue at highrise.

I did log on to the VDSL modem and saw the DSL speed something like this:
Download - around 28Mbps
Upload - around 5Mbps.

Not just about fiber optics. You see it involves other things before the light transmission send out and before it receives. Of course TM will not take the time to find out what's the real cause. This is the style.

I tested HomePlug on my kampung double-storey house with 3-phase.

Using Aztech HomePlug AV (200Mbps), it works across different phase, but the maximum speed is slightly reduced (checked on the software provided by Aztech). On same phase, subject to wire length & cable quality, usually can get around 160 to 180 Mbps while on different phases, the speed will be reduced to about 100 to 120 Mbps.

But that's more than enough for your 5Mbps UniFi (also 10 and 20Mbps).

If however you do face problems, suggest you call your electrician to reconfigure the distribution to put all sockets that you going to use HomePlug on the same phase.

Thank you for the explaination.

if the problem because of the copper wire, what should we do ? inform the building management to change the wire or this case is under TM side ?

Copper cable can support speeds upto 10gbps so the fault is not at the type of cable unless of course the cable is defective

It helps if you do tell us whether you are connected via Ethernet cable, HomePlug, or Wi-Fi when you get slow speeds.

I am on VIP10, using Asus RT-N12HP. If using Ethernet cable or HomePlug, no problem, full 10Mbps! If using Wi-Fi, if I am close to the router, < 5m, good, I get 10Mbps too! However, if I go further away, e.g. around 7m to 10m away, sometimes I get 10Mbps, sometimes the speed drops to just 5Mbps.

Using WiFi and cable through router
Still get slow download speed
Now I'm not sure is it on my router or UNIFI
Should I tried to connect through modem? Is that possible?

Connected via lan cable & WiFi. On 10mb package. My speed is normal in the morning.
But comes evening, the speed drop tremendously.
