Slow browsing on eBay, Amazon and Hotmail. It is definitely problem from TM side. I have connected to Yes to visit these sites, very smooth. With their sleeping attitude, they probably wouldn't detected the problem now and fix it.

Cheri's Permaisuri received this after make complaint:

RM0.00:Msg frm TM: We regret to inform you that there is a service disruption in your area. Expected recovery on 14/10/2014 07:33 PM. TQ for yr patience.
1 bloody MONTH.... RIP Unifi

Can we all get them to rebate our bill since they fail to provide service?
*

I made an online complaint to this website http://complaint.cfm.org.my/index.cfm before. It's simple. I just post the complaint with the compensation requested on their site and they forwarded it to TM next day and then a TM staff called me to discuss about it. The process is quite fast.

I'm not sure if the procedure still the same.

They will always try to deny their error if they call you. But since this issue is obviously their problem, they will probably rebate you but the amount may be not much.

i guess this news may be helpful for those complaint

I just read the news up to this sentence 'The faulty AAG cable also means that virtually all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Malaysia will face a similar issue'.

I'm sorry I can't agree. Today I have used YES for my online works whole day, it is smooth as usual. I can give an example like browsing Amazon.com. YES access the site quickly but when access with Unifi, it takes almost 15 seconds to land on the homepage.

TM really is...

Unifi slow loading on pictures and graphic of foreign websites. Look like their cable not 100% fixed it yet. Useless TM. Should have sent updates on progress of their restoration..

YES can save you a lot frustration now, it is smooth. Though they claim all ISPs in Malaysia and Asia Tenggara will be affected.

Faster than Streamxy 2mb but not as fast as Unifi.

i know how fiber works.
the problem is my unifi always down during raining and dead for a day until the next day.
*
During raining, I can't surf smoothly usually. I will turn off and on again after 20 minutes the rain stops and it will work fine.

If you are using the white modem and orange white router, it probably is the modem or router problem, I think you need to change your modem and router. These equipment are very low quality, that's why they give free.

The new version of silver modem and router provided by TM is better. But still the line will be affected during raining.

If really the rain is causing the problem, I doubt it is modem or router, even unifi ones. More likely the incoming cable or junction boxes have been compromised, faulty seals, exposure to rain n moisture caused shorting.
*
The old white modem that they supply is very low quality. I have asked their technicians few time and they admitted it. I requested them to change to the new silver color modem and see improvement.

I'm not complaining Internet slow down during rain. When it rains especially the heavy rain, it affects speed. Seems like it is unavoidable.

But for the problem encountered by Maxee is different, he said after rain, his Internet will down until next day. Which is why I think the modem has to do with it. To my experience with the Technicians, they will never check the outdoor cable or electrical enclosure boxes if they come and check.

really, i don't believe what u wrote is correct.

becos for 3 yrs, i used the old white modem and old router. not the best or strongest wifi but they r decent, served their purpose. rain? thunderstorm or dry like hell, no difference for 3 yrs.

the modem died after 3 yrs, changed to new one. i also changed to a new router myself. it gets better, not worse, that is true.

but, i really don't think the weather has anything to do with unifi modem or router per se. gotta be the external cables or junction boxes. or area specific or simply x in y cases, i.e. bad statistics result.

check a bit more, u know how those guys work... trace and physically give the ext line a check, been cases of rats biting n tearing up the cable... compare notes with yr neighbors, don't look just at the weather or the 2 boxes, u might find the answer.

if u can, change 1 or both boxes n see if u find improvement - that will get u closer to the answer.

I've been doing Internet marketing and selling for 9 years. Whenever I have problem, I'll call the TM customer service and they will send the technicians. The technicians will check and let know what should be fixed. The thing that I write is based on my experience. You sound like you are better than the technicians.

Every day, I browse over 300 webpages. So I have faced some Internet issues. If you want me to post a screenshot, I can post a screenshot of my browser history for today (Firefox and Chrome).

You are arguing that the raining internet slow down issue is due to outdoor cable or the electric enclosure boxes. If the cable has problem or the boxes had problem, you would have more likely experience slow browsing in normal time often, not just raining.

You didn't really know the electrical boxes did you? These boxes are weather proof which means water and wind can't go in. Usually problem doesn't come from there.

You should really ask somebody who is expert in the field first before you claim that heavy rain or thunderstorm have no effect on Internet speed. I have experienced it many times.

You know these raining affecting Internet speed issue, it is not just happening in Malaysia, in other countries like UK US also had.

Try to ask your neighbor whether they also affected in same case as your. If yes, then the fiber termination in your place got something error like water came in or etc.

If not, there must something happen. Are you live in high rise or terrace or bungalo ?
This is weird. How come the rain could effect the stability of router sweat.gif .
*
I always report to TM and request technicians when problem. They will do the checking. After a few time coming to my house, they finally solve my issue which is changing all the equipment (Modem and Router). What I can tell you based on my experience is the new silver modem works better.

If you just need to browse local websites only, the old white modem probably work OK. But if need to visit foreign websites daily, then you need a better modem.

However until today during raining my Internet browsing would be affected. But after the rain stops, thing will be recovered. I have asked the technicians, they can't explain it also.

Oct 3 and still experiencing slow browsing on some simple websites. TM continues to suck. Useless TM management.

YES has been smooth all the way during the so called submarine cable damaged period which TM said it will affect all ISPs in Asia Tenggara...

u think  repair team so fast go there to fix tht damm cable?
they also need to monitor weatherlike Typhoon Kalmaegi
vietnam also face tht issue..
tht cable itself poorly design..
not the 1st time cable putus
*
Well first they said all ISPs will be affected. But YES doesn't have problem.

No update send to users with such serious problem. When it comes to bill payment, they are so active sending update.

This kind of style is really backward. doh.gif

soon  also wan chg to Time lo once contract habis but thinking of the phone rate TM to TM is free...haha

They want to make people can't tolerate with them. Can't blame anyone.

Might want to test also Time. Just the cost will be too high if using two or three ISPs at the same time.

If it is used for work, you can try using wireless YES as back up. If your area was in YES coverage, it should work.
