i know only a little about routers, torrents.
but been with unifi vip10 3 yrs.
recently changed to asus rtn12hp, rm199, my torrent gets to max 1.2mBps.
max 7 devices used, usually 3.
torrent problem? not that I noticed in a long time.
i din change anything on router or torrent, all default settings.

unifi router is ok but a better router does work better all round... ethernet or wifi.... stability, speed, strength, coverage.

Well, if you are on a budget, yeah, the Asus RT-N12HP (take note on the "HP" *) is good enough.

* HP is the model with 9dBi high power antennas. There are also variants as follows:
1) RT-N12 (normal 5dBi antennas)
2) RT-N12UHP (similar to RT-N12HP but with USB port)

You saw wrongly.

The RT-N14UHP is the correct model.

i actually wanted to buy the 14uhp but was out of stock in the shop.
after talking to 2 guys in the store, i decided the 12hp was good enough.
it was, worked better than i expected, served all my purposes.
so, i saved money by accident. biggrin.gif

anyway, the 12hp with twin tall antennae is less cumbersome n ugly than 14uhp with 3 tall ones!

The Asus router models with "U" is necessary if you need USB support for printer sharing or setting up shared drives using ext HDD or thumbdrives.

But of course, it may not be practical for printer sharing if the location if your printer is far from the router.

In my case, my RT-N12HP is the main router, but I set up my old TP-Link TL-WDR4300 as a print server (printer is far from the main router). In this case, the WDR4300 connects to RT-N12HP via HomePlug (using LAN, not WAN port) and DHCP is disabled on the WDR4300. On top of that, it also acts as a switch. I disabled the wireless and removed the antennas as I don't require it.

guyz, i just changed my stock router to TP-Link WR841HP.

i have problems with the hypptv. i already set the VLAN to 600. it works, but sometimes certain channel is not available (it shows no signal). and then somehow it ok again.

i was wondering is it the router fault? did i misconfigured the settings? this never happen before, only after i changed to this router. sweat.gif
