LP brought me the first PRS gas - the rightmost and his other red one. Those and some of his Prestige RG during his edgier days.

Tool on a classic rock station? They still do that? Wow..
Sometime during the nurock era, I used to collect videos from the top 10 billboard modern rock tracks, no youtube back then. nowadays those on the list aren't even rock songs, kind of a joke really. Still have the Staind CD somewhere.. |

Guys, regarding pickup pole pieces and string spacing, is it best if each string is right above the pole pieces?

just installed the tonezone into my guitar.
its regular spacing so the poles are not aligned properly. i didnt notice any volume drop between the strings lil less output compared to stock dimarzio/ibz and no moar ear bleeding treble. now she screams from 'wwaaeeeh' to 'ahh' and a lil bit of 'uhh' when i do heavy pentatonic bends on her. |

WTS - SD P-Rail Bridge Zzzz QUOTE A long time ago (in the 20th century, actually) the electric guitar world was divided between Gibson and Fender designs. One of the differences between the two was string spacing. In general, Gibson chose a narrower string spacing at the bridge than Fender, and therefore the polepieces on Gibson humbuckers were closer together than the magnets on Fender pickups. When guitar shops started installing humbuckers in the bridge position of Strats, it was obvious that the strings didn’t line up with the polepieces, and if the E strings were too far outside, the sound could suffer. Our first humbuckers followed the original Gibson spacing, and we call them standard-spaced. When we released our first humbuckers with wider spacing, Floyd Rose bridges were very popular. Floyd string-spacing is the same as Fender spacing, so we naturally called the new pickups F-spaced. |

QUOTE(Everdying @ May 9 2014, 10:37 AM) looking at that pic, the issue is more of your low E being too close to edge of board. so either ur pic not shot headon, or ur bridge saddles out of alignment... QUOTE(Everdying @ May 9 2014, 10:41 AM) looking at this also, if the pic is really shot headon... Low E string doesn't give me problem at all, though I must say you are right, it seems very close to the edge of fretboard. I guess it's a good thing for me because it's easier to fret it using my thumb that way.f-space also wont help u...since diff between regular pickups is 3mm and from that pic the diff look like at least 6mm. anyway, what guitar is that? doesnt look like typical fender pickguard? Saddles aren't stock, they're Graphtech. I forgot how's the spacing like using stock saddles. It's a MIM Tele Deluxe. |

QUOTE(aneyekay1 @ May 9 2014, 12:16 PM) I actually love the idea of the p-rails (hybrid humbucker) but never like the look of them. What I did was; switched pups WITH pickguard, because the original pickguard that mounts the Fender Wide Range humbuckers has slightly bigger pickup holes (FWRH is not the same size as normal humbuckers). I also changed the saddles to Graphtech. I think each of this alter the string spacing and pole pieces alignment a little, but together they turn into this significant effect.Makes things (like your situation) hard to solve I guess I'll just bear with it at the moment. |

Gais, another technical q.
I got this cheapo HSS strat, no sound coming out, I suspect the pots are busted. Hence I just replaced the two pots, but before reassembling the pickguard/backplate etc I just plug it in into the amp just to see if my wiring is correct. There are sound coming out as I pluck the string, but before I could get excited, it died again. I also noticed that I've forgot to rewire the grounding at the back of the guitar (the one wire that's soldered to the trem claw). After rewire it back, still no sound coming out. What could be the problem? |

Try taking out the jack and check the connections and the metal part where it touches the cable plugs..
Of course it could be loose wiring somewhere also, check the connection from the jack to the pots//;. |

QUOTE(+3kk! @ May 10 2014, 12:10 AM) 6 months is very very short for a custom, most 'hot' luthier are running 1-2 year wait lists. I think Ola strandbergs waiting list is around 300 people with less than 10 made a year .. I think the forerunners for me now is Jaden Rose or Skervensen =p yet I can't shake the fear of not liking them since i've tried neither ... |

QUOTE(lky88 @ May 10 2014, 12:50 AM) 6 months is very very short for a custom, most 'hot' luthier are running 1-2 year wait lists. depends la, in general teles are faster and cheaper cause of their make. with the asking price of a new AVRI you can get a custom build liao from the hottest and the best. Ron, Dano, Kline all can build within that price range and all about 5-6 months. I think Ola strandbergs waiting list is around 300 people with less than 10 made a year .. I think the forerunners for me now is Jaden Rose or Skervensen =p yet I can't shake the fear of not liking them since i've tried neither ... the only one that takes eons to build are those set neck flashy guitars, Nik, Blackmachines (tho i know they not setneck) theres a huge risk tho in custom boutiques, you never know when the builder can go south and drag your orders to years |

QUOTE(pj_guitarist @ May 10 2014, 11:26 AM) finger crossed you wont get scammed. lols fat chance! i dont think so, the ones that command the most lub are still the "classics" (from a small builder POV) suhr, anderson etc etcthe most sought after at least via pricing point would be blackmachine right? jesus the price on them! blacmachines are there cause as far as i know you cant order them now, so theres limited amount in the market and for every internet guy who goes around saying "OMFG this is an amazing guitar!" there will be some rich kid/dude out there that goes out and gets it with a fat cheque. nice a not is entirely another subject matter. so today i went and test the C22, its nice, one of the PRS tones that i can learn to like a bit. but strangely that guitar looks cheap, and the feel of it is like a huber (considering that huber works for PRS last time) and theres something missing to it. theres a nice mid range spike, better clarity than a gibson and warmer strat sound, but my mind keeps thinking its a poor mans huber. my GAS went south almost immediately im still thinking about it tho, the price is quite good |

QUOTE(pj_guitarist @ May 10 2014, 09:09 AM) fml. i don't even think i'll be joining your mayones club to begin with. The neck is amazing, for my taste at least, very very smooth and the thickness + radius just nice , very very accessible high frets . It's a setius its more like a prs than the regius . It's doesn't feel super thin like charvel/ jackson and ibanez , feels more .. sleek ? I prefer it to prestige 7 necks. hows the neck on those thing? delicious to play? diff to other superstrats necks? vs charvel, jackson and ibanez wizards? I suck at describing, but it's good . Can try in thailand i think they bring in .... Other topics , Blackmachines are not only expensive but doug build ones are no longer available . (B2/B7 FF8) The only ones available are B6s which are those swamp ash 6 strings . Build by Feline Guitars London with Doug. I think the waiting list is 1.5 years? thats why soo many luthier shops are popping left right and centre making BM copies. I don't think Dano will cabut with your money la.. The entire bernie rico jr episode has made everyone jumpy. For a right cause though. Skerversen is pretty safe as they are going in the direction of Mayones / Carvin ( semi custom) . I think extended wait times on customs are better than a rushed and botched job? The wait makes the first time you plug her in and make sweet love to here even better! |

On another a shop flood delayed work for a month or so. Those were not major delays and both guitars are incredible pieces. The first guitar delayed by over a year was a Blackmachine B2. I ordered a Mahogany body/rosewood neck guitar and the builder never started it for a year. He would tell me it was almost done when it had never been started. He would wait weeks to reply to my emails. Keep in mind he had a $2000 deposit and that was only 50%. When the guitar was finally done he sent me pictures and the guitar that he had built had a swamp ash body. He didn't seem to think this major spec deviation was a big deal and said I "would probably like the swamp ash more anyway." When I protested he said he could build a new guitar but the wait would be another year. I accepted a free case and the cost of shipping as a discount. When the guitar showed up it was dirty and there was a ton of white filler around the body binding. He had probably taken it to a trade show for everyone to play before shipping out. The routing was sloppy and the top had numerous sanding marks visible in the finish. In the end I would have rather had one of the nice Ibanez RGA models available at the time than the $4000 Blackmachine. My Oni was delayed equally long because Dan had some health and workshop issues. We had to change materials because of CITES fears. At the very end of the build process I had to choose totally new electronics because the body was mistakenly drilled for 4 pots and a switch when I only wanted a single volume and 3-way switch. Ultimately Im happy that I have the extra controls because they make the guitar much more versatile but at the time it was frustrating. Dan's work is some of the best I have seen though and the guitar is fantastic. He ended up giving me a significant discount as well because of the wait and the build frustrations. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him now that his workshop and build process is more streamlined. QUOTE(regiuseven @ May 10 2014, 07:57 PM) aye that one, quite good specs i dare say. looks green in real life but something at the back of my head tells me something wrong is with that guitar QUOTE(aneyekay1 @ May 10 2014, 08:04 PM) Any of u guys love those fender split head kluson style tuners? stirng your guitar as usual, but before you put the ends in, use a plier and twist the string to the direction you want to go in. then use your finger to press it down and turn So tedious to restring the B and e string. not really boutiques cabut with peoples money, too long production time, false promises is more common than you think its normally the smaller ones that do it but still i can name a few off my head even suhr had issues in meeting production promises owh and since we are on the blackmachine topic, i saw this today
aye that one, quite good specs i dare say. looks green in real life but something at the back of my head tells me something wrong is with that guitar stirng your guitar as usual, but before you put the ends in, use a plier and twist the string to the direction you want to go in. then use your finger to press it down and turn it will come out if you dont turn the string 90 degrees
Really ? That blackmachine story sounds very dodgy as doug doesn't take requests for his build , only small stuff like pickups and bridges as choices. His guitars are basically build to what he wants to achieve in a guitar ( from what I've heard from BM owners) But yea, the world of custom guitars oh so appealing but the delays and inevitable ... Problem is most luthiers are guitarist who build guitars, not businessmen = shitty shitty business models and overbooking and shit . |

QUOTE(+3kk! @ May 10 2014, 08:56 PM) not really, a lot of them have got such stories.............................. Yeah but initial 4k investment for bm. Is probably the fastest turnover for your money in modern guitars History. its more common than you think, ive read stories of great reputable companies making guitars that suck balls. then suddenly everyones guitars sucked balls and no one can contact the boss of the co. its was THE headless guitar maker then. Especially knowing that superstrats always dipped in price in secondhand value . Btw anyone tries/owned caparisons? |

QUOTE(+3kk! @ May 10 2014, 05:08 PM) so today i went and test the C22, its nice, one of the PRS tones that i can learn to like a bit. but strangely that guitar looks cheap, and the feel of it is like a huber (considering that huber works for PRS last time) and theres something missing to it. theres a nice mid range spike, better clarity than a gibson and warmer strat sound, but my mind keeps thinking its a poor mans huber. my GAS went south almost immediately im still thinking about it tho, the price is quite good |

I'd buy a BM on moments notice.. ..
I can't imagine myself buying a boutique vintage guitar though, like LP or strat, like ever ever. If i'm gonna spend 10k on a guitar I'd want it to be exactly what I like(modern) or really vintage stuff. |

QUOTE(lky88 @ May 11 2014, 08:08 AM) anyone knows where to get cubase for free??? can't find a good crack leh, malaysia fake software shops sell ar? You need to find a clean installer of Cubase LE/AI 6 demo first. It has been taken down from Steinberg, even from their ftp archive. Probably due to the large number of "free activations" being made from this version. After install, open MySteinberg (Cubase e-licensing manager website) and register a username. Opt for Cubase AI 6 (AI has more features compared to LE), and select Yamaha or Zoom. Open Soft-eLicense (installed by Cubase) on your computer and copy your install serial thingy to your MySteinberg. Let it generate your activation code. Use them on Soft e-License. Make sure to update your Soft-License too. There you go, free and 'legit' Cubase. No need to hack, no need keygen. |

When I started playing I found Schecters neck pretty beefy too, had an Indonesia made 7 String that was great for the money.
To me LTDs are pretty good too, all better choices to ibanez for me, at least for the lower ends. |

most of my fav PL songs are from draconian times...when they finally moved away from the death/goth side to almost goth...and then unfortunately into their depeche mode phase...but the darkness still remained...
and no matter what they do...all fans still somehow like every phase they do kinda sucky that the official video removed the dialogue from uncle charlie manson... so many of theirs to mention... but of cos classics will forever be classics... |

enough 6 for me (maybe a PRS or another 121 or two), additional two 7s would do.. too many but too little time to play

Alright just changed pots and input jack to my chaplang guitar.
No sound coming out from the strings. Plugged in to the amp, turn the vol n tone all the way up, there's only buzzy sound. No buzzy sound when I turn the vol or tone knob all the way down. Where could the wiring glitch be? |

wire pickups directly to output jack.
if no sound, blame pickups. if got sound, blame pots. |

QUOTE(regiuseven @ May 23 2014, 09:13 AM) Yeap, I do mods because I was curious. Kinda like trial and error experience Copper tapes are hard to come by in Malaysia. Most probably have to buy online I used those aluminium tape found in hardware stores for my guitar shielding for my strats and they reduced around 30-40% of the hum But i didnt add a second ground wire from the shielding to the normal ground because u cant/hard to solder on aluminium tape. |

Hi guys, does anyone know if Danelectro pedals are still sold locally? Bentley used to carry them, but they hardly stock anything Danelectro these days.
Specifically, I'm looking for the DJ14 Fish and Chips 7-band EQ Pedal (used to sell for ~RM100+). |

Went to Cash Converters Taman Sea earlier today and saw some nifty weird ass machine gun shaped guitars on the wall.
Got floyd rose, H-H config, suprisingly fat unfinished 24 fret maple neck/rosewood board, volume and tone for each pickup All i can say is, it was super awkward playing it lol |

QUOTE(Everdying @ May 25 2014, 06:52 PM) delusional cocks la. duno how the hell they do their homeworki saw a 70s SG also someone tried to sell for around rm7-8k. then again, this is malaysian market...lots of delusional prices here especially for some jap guitars. summore can lansi QUOTE P/S : Do your own research about this guitar cos i dont do kopithiam talk and in the end not buying. Low ballers and timewaster dont try your luck. As this is a preowned guitar..there wont be any papers or document to proved or support of its purchased. This rare beauty is hard to come by and its a 34 years old collector guitar. and still shines!!! Will keep this guitar if theres no potential buyers and will sell it at even a very high price in more years to come.( My price will never go down ) If u can get this guitar cheap in ebay or buy new guitar in swee lee..by all means go ahead cos musical instrument is for u to physically see, touch and play before purchased.Btw u cant get this old "Black Vintage" anymore.Old vintage guitars made by gibson, wood quality and tone is amazing and is un-compareable to the new generations Gibson Guitar which are so called Reissue and its suck..!! Cheers..!! my brain exploded This post has been edited by +3kk!: May 25 2014, 07:01 PM |

talking about pricing, just found out CC4 prices went bonkers, preowned at £7995 (RM 43k). I think it would sit in the shop for awhile, but it's nice to know it has appreciated lol.
