Guys, regarding pickup pole pieces and string spacing, is it best if each string is right above the pole pieces?

Yup, so it sounds balanced, try to make sure the space between string and pole piece itself not too near or far as well
*
If that's the case, what could I do to resolve this? Definitely not a good balance, too much volume variations on each string. sweat.gif

thats ... quite obvious... you didnt check for f spacing kah?

Maybe you can raise the pickup so its all loud? haha
*
Yea man, didn't check properly before. Sigh.

Neck pup is also a bit off, but it's not as bad.

woo sd p-rails, i like those...are they even available in f-spacing?
*
Yeah I think I should've gotten the F-spacing one. I thought F-spacing is just for Floydrose and Floydrose only.

P-rails are awesome, variety of tones. But finding the sweet spot might take some time. But then again, maybe that's because of the wrong spacing. cry.gif

guess u found out the hard way that the f is actually fender.
just a coincidence that floyd rose also f...

maybe try diff narrower saddles if can to reduce the space? but too much hassle, better just sell them off and buy proper f-space.
*
Wait. F-space is the term used by DiMarzio only. SD uses trembucker or something like that for the same thing.

I guess trem = Tremolo = Vintage trem on strat = Same string spacing on Tele = Bla bla bla I'm still Fked-up.

WTS - SD P-Rail Bridge Zzzz

just installed the tonezone into my guitar.

its regular spacing so the poles are not aligned properly.
i didnt notice any volume drop between the strings

lil less output compared to stock dimarzio/ibz and no moar ear bleeding treble.

now she screams from 'wwaaeeeh' to 'ahh' and a lil bit of 'uhh' when i do heavy pentatonic bends on her.  tongue.gif
*
Mind share a photo? Is the alignment as off as mine?

I think you should include soundclip to describe "wwaaeeeh' to 'ahh' and a lil bit of 'uhh".

yup, as dimarzio faq says.....

Woah, before this I always thought the "F" in F-spaced means Floyd Rose.

You're right, I really learned the hard way that it actually means Fender.

Damn... doh.gif

looking at that pic, the issue is more of your low E being too close to edge of board.
so either ur pic not shot headon, or ur bridge saddles out of alignment...
*
QUOTE(Everdying @ May 9 2014, 10:41 AM)
looking at this also, if the pic is really shot headon...
f-space also wont help u...since diff between regular pickups is 3mm and from that pic the diff look like at least 6mm.

anyway, what guitar is that? doesnt look like typical fender pickguard?
*
Low E string doesn't give me problem at all, though I must say you are right, it seems very close to the edge of fretboard. I guess it's a good thing for me because it's easier to fret it using my thumb that way.

Saddles aren't stock, they're Graphtech. I forgot how's the spacing like using stock saddles.

It's a MIM Tele Deluxe.

Id have to disagree..pole spacing are cosmetic only

I assure you they are big volume variations on every string, especially on cleans.

I actually love the idea of the p-rails (hybrid humbucker) but never like the look of them.
Makes things (like your situation) hard to solve
*
What I did was; switched pups WITH pickguard, because the original pickguard that mounts the Fender Wide Range humbuckers has slightly bigger pickup holes (FWRH is not the same size as normal humbuckers). I also changed the saddles to Graphtech. I think each of this alter the string spacing and pole pieces alignment a little, but together they turn into this significant effect.

I guess I'll just bear with it at the moment. sweat.gif

oh u changed everything.
maybe now time to put a floyd rose in it biggrin.gif

I'm actually thinking of digging another pickup hole to make is HHH and then install Bigsby and then reverse headstock and then killswitch and then KORG Kaoss pad n then built-in Zvex Fuzz Factory and delay and then sustainer pickup and then piezo saddles with separate stereo jack. Urmmm, what else did I miss? biggrin.gif

Haha it seems you two are really inseparable. One would go bore without the other and finally will drag the other into anything together. Shhoooo schweeeet! wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

On another note, I just didn't like the sound of FWRH, hence swapped it together with the pickguard, and the Graphtech saddles are for longer lasting strings and to reduce tone over-brightness.

Gais, another technical q.

I got this cheapo HSS strat, no sound coming out, I suspect the pots are busted. Hence I just replaced the two pots, but before reassembling the pickguard/backplate etc I just plug it in into the amp just to see if my wiring is correct.

There are sound coming out as I pluck the string, but before I could get excited, it died again.

I also noticed that I've forgot to rewire the grounding at the back of the guitar (the one wire that's soldered to the trem claw). After rewire it back, still no sound coming out.

What could be the problem?

no sound from all pickups? check the jack inserts

How to know whether it's working or not?

Funny thing is that there is sound signal but just for the first 1-2 seconds the moment I plugged it in, and then it dies again.

Try taking out the jack and check the connections and the metal part where it touches the cable plugs..

Of course it could be loose wiring somewhere also, check the connection from the jack to the pots//;.
*
Imma replace the input jack with a new Switchcraft. If that doesn't work too, Imma give up and send it to tech LoL.
