QUOTE(yeelong @ May 7 2014, 10:36 AM) Unless he sell a first team player i doubt it would be significant fee coming in, Agger and Reina maybe but once you sell Agger who would you get to back up the pairing of Skrtel and Sakho. Toure? Please hate me for saying this . I'm happy with him so far this season. Minus both of the blunders, he's one experience, solid Defender. And he can assist with very good long passing too. Also linked with Cardiff's captan - Caulker as he has a clause to exit following cardiff's relegation.
Wasn't impressed with him during our win of 6-3 but plus point is he is English

Wasn't impressed with Caulker. But he can do a Hendo.... We have pressing need for good solid defenders. LB and RB has always been our weak point. How I wish Hyppia-Henchoz partnership never ends....

Thing about our defence is it isn't down purely to the players. I think we can all admit that Skrtel has had a solid season over all and so has Sakho so it's a contradiction to say our defence has been crap all season despite conceding goals. Here are a couple of things we need to consider :-
1) When was the last time a team scored the most goals in the league but also conceded the least? I'm sure there are examples but I can't remember. The point I'm trying to make is one Paul Tomkins mentioned; that "we are who we are and not who we're not". Playing attacking football often means you'll be more prone to conceding than a team that parks the bus e.g. Chelsea. We have conceded 26 goals more than them but we've scored 30 more and we find ourselves 2 points ahead of them. The numbers reflect the difference between a more offensive team and a more defensive one. Makes sense doesn't it?
2) A lot of the goals we've conceded have come from defensive errors but at the same time, our centrebacks have largely had good games this season. What gives? Players are usually forced into making mistakes when they are under immense pressure or are left exposed. By pushing players forward we leave gaps at the back for opposition players to run at our defenders and not many centrebacks are comfortable with having forwards running at them. Skrtel and Sakho do well in physical battles but neither is particularly fleet footed. We therefore need to be smarter about when to push forwards in numbers i.e. when the momentum of the game is in our favour), and when to defend i.e. when the opponent catches a gust of wind in their sails. I don't think it's as much a case about having bad defenders than it is about being bad at defending.
In conclusion I'd say it's a case of "live by the sword, die by the sword". We should continue to take the game to teams. It's gotten us where we are today but we also need to realise that we cannot sustain our attacking play for 90 minutes and we need to choose the right times to retreat before going on the offensive again. New defenders aren't going to rectify our porous defence.

QUOTE(8sg9ft @ May 6 2014, 07:19 PM) "If Manchester United fans want to laugh at us, let them; only one big club was a shambles this season. If they need to laugh at Liverpool to get over being so abject in 2013/14, so be it. We can always buy both clubs’ season review DVDs and have a good laugh."Burnnnnn!! "But if City do hold on, then despite relying on their wage bill (which can’t be much higher than Chelsea’s, who’ve done far less this season), they’d be deserving champions. They also have a manager with some class and dignity, much like Liverpool, but of course, unlike Chelsea." Double burnnnn!! United will be back next season.

QUOTE Liverpool scouts watch Antoine Griezmann play for Real Sociedad... and check up on team-mate Inigo Martinez Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...l#ixzz30ztdswMxFollow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook I would be extremely delighted if we get both but to be fair, Griezmann is so effing good since I started watching him playing last season. This season he is even better. If we can snap them both, it could be the thing we need to improve our squad. The flair offered by Griezmann is definitely better than Moses.

QUOTE(wadefak @ May 7 2014, 11:41 AM) with all due respect, i list a few more players that can offer better flair than Moses But this guy has hit 20 goals this season. I was pointing out Moses because this guy plays the same position as Moses does...He plays at the wings with strong left foot but with an equally decent right foot. Now that Sociedad misses on Champion League. we can poach on him.
