QUOTE(prophetjul @ May 7 2014, 09:00 AM)
There are lots of kneejerkers because of the generation they are brought up in.
Everything is instant nowadays.

People tend to forget that the season is a 38 game run.

After a poor game, these type come out to rant their displeasure again and again, not seeing the woods for the tree.
We started the season just to improve on the 7th place of last season. How many remembered that?
We did so because we do NOT have CL and thereby the funds to behave like the spoiled shieks.

We then humbly aimed for at least 4th placing or CL qualification.
We have done that.

We have out performed along the way. We managed to maintain a challenge throughout the WHOLE season.
Can even remember the last time we did that.

AnD its the whole season. 2 games from the end we are STILL on top the league albeit the finality is no longer in our control.

If you had told me that we would be challenging for 1st or EVEN 2nd placing at the start of the season, I would have laughed me head off.

Perspective, chaps, perspective.

be proud of the achievement of Brendan and the lads and WE GO AGAIN.

CL< here we COME!   rclxm9.gif

Indeed. Now that Brendan has been offered a 4 year contract, let's hope he'll build on what he's got and we'll be challenging on all fronts next season.

I need to talk a little about expectations. These days they tend to fluctuate on a weekly basis amongst some. We went on a 13 game unbeaten run and of the 13 we won 11 games. Can anyone honestly say they expected to see such a run this season? As fans, I feel we have a responsibility of managing our own expectations. A top four challenge was the goal this season and we more than did that. We secured that goal with games to spare. When we ascended the ladder and climbed to the summit, expectations changed and suddenly we were expected to compete for the title which we are still doing! The defeats against Chelsea and Palace were blows to the chin but we've met and EXCEEDED all expectations placed on us at the start of the season so what's with the negativity? Sure, it will hurt to come so close and miss out on the title but there's no need to take it out on the team. Blame yourself for not giving the team the due recognition they deserved for surpassing your expectations.

Is it all because of Suarez? He's played a massive part no doubt but if you look at the assist numbers, the lads have created a lot of chances for him to tuck them away. Last season he was left mostly to do it on his own. This season he's had a lot of help so credit needs to be given were it's due.

For me personally, the negativity is the disappointment with how we have defended.

Of course I'm proud of the team for overachieving.

But I think it's more of flaw-searching rather than negativity.

The acknowledging of our weaknesses and shortcomings despite a tremendous season, which IMO is nothing wrong.

Unless someone comes out and says: "what a shit season, we had the title and we let it go... always next season".

And I think the CP game was a huge blow coz of how we lost focus...

It would take a miracle for us to win now. One lost from Man City is enough. Unlikely but it ain't over till it's over.

Oasis, admitted they have some good songs, are by far one of the most overrated bands.

I hardly remember more than 1 song they sang so, in ma book they are one hit wonder, don't get me wrong, i tried to follow the other ablum. But not as good as first one and if they are really great, i sure can remember more of them songs like i did to Micheal Jackson, Beatles, Stevie wonders, Air Suppliers, Marah carey, Whiteny Huston.

Overrated, underrated is very subjective, but one hit wonder? oh gosh.

Have you ever worked so hard in the day and go home and just lie on the bed with Champagne Supernova playing? You should try that.

OK back to football. I believe 60M handed in to BR due to CL qualification right? Why about domestic prize money?? Imagine if BR didn't qualify for any Europa competition. How much he will get? My question is he allow to spend more than 60m pound to strengthen his squad?

On a hindsight, Hendo's red card was a big impact on the team. We lost the zest in midfield. His energy is second to none and Lucas is just not AM material.

Anyway, hope Villa will not just make up the schedule tonight. Drop points for City means title is still alive. Win for City means last game a must win for us and a draw will do for them.

We need to bring in quality defenders. CL means more money but also more games and stress. More injuries too. Spend wisely to beef up the bench. Sell wisely too.

Next season, I do hope to see more playing time for Alberto, Suso, Borini and Ibe; at least in cup games.

I wonder can BR get more than 60m? coz the targets he aiming will easily over the budget. Of coz he will sell some players like reina, johnson(?), Agger(cry), Aspas, Coatez.

Unless he sell a first team player i doubt it would be significant fee coming in, Agger and Reina maybe but once you sell Agger who would you get to back up the pairing of Skrtel and Sakho. Toure? rclxub.gif
