Takes practise. Hold down the Manual focus button to activate it, then use the directional pad on top of the menu button to focus... Practise with Macro...

blek, after all my research and evaluation, i finally decide to settle for s3is
my girlfriend feels that the fuji9600 looks to monsterish, besides, its around RM 1800

i really wanted to choose the fz8 over the s3is but i found the camera failing when it comes to handling of noise over ISO200. sad. because for ISO100 shots, they if i may say produce great pictures. the extra one mp does not make any difference. i really liked the EVF and screen but it does not justify the price. its much cheaper than the s3is in the US but it has the same price here. i liked the fact that it comes with lens hood and adaptor but it will be difficult to find lenses anyway.

then i went on to consider the h7/h9 and it was disappointing to say the least. image was bad when zoomed in and the noise reduction is way too high

i guess theres a reason why so many prefer the s3is. i can hardly criticize it (maybe 2.5inch lcd and better EVF?) for its image reproduction. ( maybe improve on the lens cap as well for that matter)

i hope hop into the bandwagon by next week. depends on when the freaking credit card arrives)

Thats the way... Bro... I was thinking about that too... I wanted to get a DSLR, but rather than investing so heavy.. Would like to try out on prosumer camera 1st..

If I'm not mistaken 1699 from Canon gives u a very bad tripod, 2 GB SD, Case, A NiMH charger (I dunno how fast this charger is though).

NO batteries though.

i will be getting it next week. price is around 1400-1699
the thing is that i'm buying it with credit card so i can only buy it around 1650-1699 with 2 gig card, mini tripod and case. its rather standard. maybe i'll get it from Shong Lee one u or Fotokem since they over 0% interest

hmm...if cash and carry can get around rm1299. i remember seeing it in Lowyet trade area.

i was thinking of getting a dlsr...like you but i like the flexibility of pro sumers. i dont have to worry about changing lenses as well. besides, i like recording movies...what more with a camera.

after form 5, once i got loaded with cash to support at least 70-300mm, 50mm f1.8 and SB 600 speedlite and a Body[2k-3k]

Ditch the lousy mini tripod and get a REAL sturdy tripod.

buy from online sellers lor.... I live in PJ, hessitating whether or not to buy from them online, of cuz my collection method will be COD since it involves 1k and up...

FZ50 price point extremely near to Canon 350D/Nikon D40 with kit lens. Seriously at that price better off gettin a Dslr rather than a bridge camera.
