S1 and now a happy S3 user. The hotshoe on the new S5 helps a lot if you intend to take better night time pictures but unfortunately the S5is does not take pictures in RAW mode. The retail price will definately below the rm2k threshold as all previous out going models have.
Am a fan of Panasonic Lumix series but went with Canon because of their impecable after sales services. Want to know why? try asking existing Canon camera owners.

S5is should not be compared to FZ50, different features diff pricepoint. Anyway the S5is wont be available till prolly june/early July.

6MP and 8MP will NOT affect your shot quality UNLESS you decide to enlarge the prints more than A3 size. You wont even notice the diffs if you develop 4R sizes taken on 4MP.

S3is and S5is lens are the same USM/UD smile.gif

Digic II vs Digic III - better processing - depend on which angle you look at it..i would say a more 'processed' shot LOL. Anyway doesnt matter to me now because i am enjoying takin raw format on my S3 so DigicIII wont make much diff i would think.

Hotshoe - MUST GET FEATURE(for me) helps a LOT when you are takin pictures during the night and the build in flash isnt adequate(applies to almost ALL compacts/superzoom with built-in flashes)

Even though S5is and Lumix FZ-50 has diff price point but the S5is is threading really close to those territory. Canon can finally lay to rest the PRO1....long live PRO1.

My S3 where got hotshoe shakehead.gif

For those who are goin to spend rm2.2k onwards you should seriously consider Canon 350D or Nikon D40 instead.

seriously....no offense but Sony do not have the 'pedigree' ...price point YES. If your a serious photo-enthusiast , you would prolly pick a Nikon pro-sumer cam over the rest....but that would open another can of worms and i might end up runnin foul and not in the mod's goodbook hehe.

p/s what was i thinkin arguing with someone who has 1.7k post huh notworthy.gif

Checked with Canon, warranty only applicable to sets bought within Malaysia from Authorised/accredited dealers. Sets bought elsewhere will be treated as non-warranty items = hefty charges.

FZ50 price point extremely near to Canon 350D/Nikon D40 with kit lens. Seriously at that price better off gettin a Dslr rather than a bridge camera.

M8 being a rangefinder is a totally different category and OOT in regards to this thread.
The V-Lux 1 is relevent by virtue its a prosumer/bridge class camera albeit at a MSRP usd850 which comes to about RM3k.......now wouldnt it be nice to have a Leica and brag about it for 'only' RM3k? smile.gif
See it isnt funny afterall if you check your facts smile.gif

Btw i had the pleasure to hold and took some shots on the M8 in Pg, belongs to a fren who happens to be a Leica freak...they are a different breed indeed.

Have a fren in KL who bought the 9600 few months back. Maybe you can ask his opinion....mind you his purchase was influenced by a weddin photographer who ABSOLUTELY idolized Fujifilm cameras.....goin by his profesion i am not surprised Fujifilm digicams are good at lowlight conditions. Below is my fren's link :

S3IS uses SD.
9600 no image stabilization.
How often you take pic using iso800? and yes like i said earlier if you take majority of your pics in low light situation, weddin pics, indoor low lit....by all means go for Fujifilm cams as they are fabulously famous for them.
