i wonder whats the difference between the image quality of powershot A640 and the s3is. i really like the s3is but it's only 6 mp....
can i still print poster size images?

dont worry... i'm planning to get it latest by this month. i'm waiting because i dont have enough money yet! anyway... price might drop but i doubt it will be much. in fact, i dont know how long you have to wait before s5 reaches m'sia though it will be early june in the states. price will definitely be 2K plus.

hmm....the fz8 is quite a good camera.. comes with adapter and lens hood too...but i still prefer s3is due to it being powered by AA batteries. Li ion batteries expensive. the fz8 leica lenses provide quite good images as well
basically, it boils down to individual preference...

i just tested both s3is and fz8 yesterday. in terms of design i preferred fz8 over the s3is. the EV and LCD of Fz8 is much better due to the higher resolution. but the s3 has the articulated lcd(which i love). s3 is much heavier. but if the design is unimportant then s3 might be a better choice.
Since you dont like noise in your pictures then s3 should be better. You can notice some noise even in IS0 100 for the fz8. video recording for s3 is excellent as well. overall, i would say that s3 is a better bargain since price is almost similar.

well....its just my personal opinion. some might disagree so the best advice is for you test it out personally in any shop. =)

yes...without the fatty 4 AA battery....it is still heavier than the fz8. =)
in fact the fz8 with its lithium battery still lighter than the s3 without batteries!

plus battery and sd card fz8 weighs in at 357 g hence still lighter than s3is
maybe i shouldn't use the word MUCH then

hm....s5 will be better i guess.. 2.5 inch lcd screen...8 mp ....hot shoe..etc.
but i wonder if the price will justify it.

for night scenes, if it is really that important than you should consider fujifilm's FinePix F31fd and FinePix F30. but s3is performs admirably as well
though you might want to avoid using ISO 400 and above for larger prints.
but nothing to worry about. still great image quality overall.

i would definitely love to have the s5is.. but the problem is i have to wait till early june and it will definitely be out of my budget.
so realistically i only have s3is and fz8 within budget.
if they just sell based on exchange rate than i'll definitely buy

but i doubt it

man....the latest i can wait is till 10 june and i'll be going for my trip.
kinda sucky if the s5 is not released then cause i need a camera for the trip.
this puts me in a dilemma... buy s3? or wait...

based on the sample pictures found above, i'm rather disappointed by the image quality of the s5is. it seems that both the G7 and A640 beats it flat
