The firmware is temporary, it wont harm / replace the original firmware, just that everytime u want to shoot in raw, just start the camera with the hacked firmware. Once u switch it off, it will roll back to the original firmware.

The file size is around 8.5-9.5MB

The firm ware will have to be loaded into the SD card. If you have more than a SD card, you will have to copy it to each one. Another disadvantage is that it increase the start up time of the cam.[/quote]

Oh. So thats how it works. Sounds more like a hack. A 3rd party software running over the original one eh?

I wouldn't agree that it's the only way to get good photos. It's only a way to have more control, that's all. Taking a good photo still depends on lot of factors including composition.

Exactly. Definetly depends on composition. I meant the control part....... icon_rolleyes.gif

based on the sample pictures found above, i'm rather disappointed by the image quality of the s5is. it seems that both the G7 and A640 beats it flat
well..

OMG Sherren.. You're making me drool all over my desk, sadly I can't find a shop which sell the LAH Dc-20 now.. Still hunting.. drool.gif drool.gif drool.gif

Hey Chicaman.. That's tempting me to install the firmware too.. To take raw images.. But what are the average size of a raw image? Care to share a lil more bout raw images? and if I'm using a normal SD (non-high speed) will it be much slower to capture raw images?

Btw guyz.. before I proceed to upgrade any part of the camera.. Few hours ago, I dropped my S3is from a height of approximately 1metre.. Found some metal piece stucking out of the joint near the JOG DIAL.. Should I send it for service or what should I do?

@kinz_11

Have you tried using a pen/screwdriver to press it in? Do it gently cos I think its one of the latches which should snap back in.

But be carefull.....
