Sorry to change the topic but can anyone tell me where is the best place to buy LAH DC-20.. The Lens Hood Adapter for Canon s3.. I've been to most places, almost every camera shop in Berjaya Times Square, Sg Wang, Lowyat and I called up Bintang Maju and Shong Lee as well.. All of them are out of stock.. The cheapest so far is Shong Lee, who offered me Rm110.. Where else can I get them?

let me try RAW in my A710IS then i post some sample...I know this is S3IS thread
Added on May 10, 2007, 7:16 am ![]() This is taken by my A710IS using some hack and it is RAW ![]() This is taken by A710IS saved in JPG. In the EXIF data, for the RAW it said it is taken by A620 while JPG is taken by A710IS of course. Something wrong with the hack giving wrong camera model for the RAW format This post has been edited by chicaman: May 10 2007, 07:16 AM |

Why so much difference? I thought both is suppose to be the same unless you post process your RAW.

Nope its different, but RAW is closer to eye seeing.
When using the hack, donno why it takes 2 picture for me automatically. And no doubt the RAW is better cause can process many thing. |

1) Do we really need RAW file type option?
2) But RAW file take up much more disk space.. 3) How many more thing tht RAW file can be modify? it's really a lots? 4) But RAW file required to cover to JPG file in order to send for printing. This post has been edited by JET: May 10 2007, 05:57 PM |

No. I'm not a perfectionist and Canon jpeg fine is doing a great job.2) But RAW file take up much more disk space.. 3) How many more thing tht RAW file can be modify? it's really a lots? 4) But RAW file required to cover to JPG file in order to send for printing. 2) Of course, RAW is looseless. Just like FLAC compares to MP3. 3) I would say everything. From white balance to leveling. From brightness to saturation. You can still "save" your shot if it's not too much screwed. If it is, God helps you 4) Yes. In fact, RAW is like *.avi, Canon's RAW is different from Nikon RAW. Although the content is much or less the same, but they required different software to decode it. So you don't expect photo shops to provide those kind of service, but there's always exceptional. Overall, RAW is for someone who really wants to control everything. Just like the old days there are people who prefer developing their photos by themselves in dark room rather then send it to photo shops. |

Just like the old days there are people who prefer developing their photos by themselves in dark room rather then send it to photo shops. 1. RAW is a plus point where we can preserve the best quality. I prefer taking picture in RAW and edit it myself instead of tuning the camera for setting and cant get the best result. Doing everything manually with computer and mouse is definately easier. 2. Yes RAW takes up a lot of disk space. But my memory card is 2GB and memory card is dirt cheap now. So it wont be a problem though. 3. Yeah, you can do many setting with RAW and and with the RAW picture u can have multiple file of different setting. If the picture is processed by our camera, sometimes the setting is not the one we want. 4. READ up the WIKIPEDIA link i posted. Each camera manufacturer has different RAW format. For canon is .CRW and if u want to edit in photoshop, u need to convert to .DNG first. But now with the new ADOBE LIGHTROOM 1.0 it can support many RAW format and no need to convert to .DNG. It can directly open up the file and process it |

woww !!!
Thx for your comment chicaman, kelvinyam, In conclusion, I still prefer to shoot in JPG file. Do all the shooting from the camera len, and setting. To me, i think this would be safe a lots of time. (my opinion only But of cause I might need to spend some money on lens adapter and filter. |

I'm planning to get a good camera, have previously used some compact cameras and felt that I want a change...
Seems that review on Canon S3 IS is very good ... But how bout Olympus SP-550UZ and Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ8? Which is better? Do they have any comparison on the models? Would be great if you guys could provide me with some pointers. Thanks.. |
