i bet both will have same limit. so go for 6600 so u can spend ur money somewhere else.. by the way while i was studying for tomorrow quiz, i ran a continuos benches without reset windows or tweak anything to test stability with the new release bios for gigabyte mobo. dual super PI (from 1m till 32m) -----> 3dmark03 ------> 3dmark05 ------> 3dmark06 ------> 3dmark01se ------> aquamark . setting: E6300 B2 @ 3.15ghz 450x7 1.375vcore (bios), 1.34v (windows) 2x 1gb Mushkin EMS ddr900 5-5-5-15 @ 1.9vdimm Gigabyte DS4 (bios F3c) ATi x1900xtx (catalyst 6.7 , stock speed) Attached thumbnail(s)

den i tried on bios...i tweak the clock from 266 to 270 (for testing)...it rebooted twice and went in windows...den i chk with cpuz and spi run...still the default speed =/ but i chk in bios yea is tune to 270 d worr...im real noob in dis =/ 2. can gip advices and xplain?

first of all, it's better if u post in this thread http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=320359. anyway regarding ur questions, 1) yeah easytune does reset ur setting everytime u restart the windows. 2) this intel core 2 duo does have EIST, if i not mistaken stands for enhanced intel speedstep tech. during idle, it will slowdown ur clockspeed to save power. The most important thing for this is to have a mobo that can have high MCH voltage so that you could push the FSB to 420 and above. Just for comparison, Intel Bad Axe has upto 1.725V for MCH. Most other boards has upto 1.6++V for MCH voltage IIRC. but then, i read in xtremesystem, they(ppl of) believe its aint worthy to get the C2D wif higher multi as it will only clocks onli around 3.2~3.5Ghz wif air-cooling. dunnu if using WC setup

Just curious, did you guys enable Core Multiplexing in your testings?

It's supposed to enable the whole L2 cache to a single CPU when you run any single threaded software such as SuperPI. Supposed to boost some performance. My tests were done with this enabled; hmmm I should try disabling it to see how it goes.
