==> You'll Never Walk Alone <==

http://www.unbase.com/n/5853623009

When you walk through a storm hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm there's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
For your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone.

Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone.

The players have every reason not to commit too much. They know they need to save energy and not risk injury for this one.

Understandable. But the defensive howler was crazy.

I know they will step up a gear again in Anfield. It is Palace away that they need to keep stepping up and not back pedaling.

From this game,
Mignolet not better than reina
Johsnon really terrible in defence
When crossing, opponent chance to score is really high if they compete with flanagan or johnson

Not very impressed today. Twice we had our two goal margin reduced to one. Need to see the replay again.

Johnson back to his old self. Lucas could have buried that one!!!!

The main problem for today's match is our midfielder. We have missed henderson so much! The defender are not able to pass freely to any of them because midfielder looks so shacky. Although we have won the match but we clearly lost the midfield. Something not click with coutinho, lucas and allen.

1st objective in as we qualify for UCL.
Bonus objective EPL title coming soon.

Seriously is like we turn off after scoring in the 1st 10 mins. I know sometimes we want to play counterattack but against bottom feeder teams we need to play possession football instead. Lucky Skrtel & Gerrard again proving to be rock in defense. Both our FB also poor today.

Looking at how Chelsea play we really need to be tip top against Salah & Willan who can terrorize both our fullbacks next week.

Suarez was very angry at lucas, as he can't convert a direct goal.

Mignolet is awful today. Liverpool better improve their play when they face chelsea or manchester city might pounce in.

1. Defence piss poor especially the fullbacks. Not closing down on overlapping players and crosses.

2. Mignolet always a suspect when coming off the ground. Great stopper but really poor in the air.

3. Lucas just doesn't have the offensive impetus of Hendo and is trying maybe too hard thus conceding too many fouls and losing valuable possession.

4. Sakho too is a suspect today but did okay overall.

Complacency from the lads. They technically stopped playing after leading 2 goals.
Sakho was shit and Mignolet was equally shit. We need a new goalie with potential to put Mignolet in pressure. Dont ask why he is not No1 for Belgium. Just see how he punch the ball like a fking sissy. He need to be better than that.

As for the referee, he should go read a book on what is red and what is yellow card. The decision for not dismissing Snodgrass almost cost us point. Dumb referee but at least he even it out by not giving a freekick to Sakho's poor clumsy idiotic challenge on Snodgrass.

#ragemode.

We didnt play badly honestly I dont see Norwich play this attacking start of the season. They at the bottom worried of relegation, they play all out.

Hendo is missed yea, but what if Hendo injured whole season we cant count on him all the time. Other players need to step up which they did, not tremendous but its alright

3pts and 5 pts clear so bring in Chelsea!

Relax guys, we defended well for most of the game. We let them into game too easily, but I thought we dealt with most of the threats. It's just that in the 2nd half, nerves start kicking in and the players were clearly under pressure. Johnson, Lucas and Sakho were all nervous and could have costed us the game.

Also give credit where it's due, Norwich played very well and shut down the space in front of our defenders. While Allen had a decent game, I thought Lucas couldn't make up for Henderson's energy and ability to take the pressure off the ball.

Nobody said winning the league would be a walk in the park. We could have dropped points, but we held on. And that's all that matters now.

I'm confident we will show up at Anfield so bring it on, Chelsea.

I'm never really convinced that Mig is a better keeper than Pepe. Pepe is so commanding and his distribution is 2nd to none. BR just don't like him. Don't know why.....

Also I've no idea why BR loves Moses so much! Whenever he plays, he doesn't contribute much. Better to play Alberto.

Reina will not be wanting to play second fiddle and sitting on the bench though.

I would say Mignolet has better reflexes than Reina though.

Any, important 3 points in the bag, confirmed CL next season. We need to buy well next summer. This squad is too thin, we basically have nobody in bench.

Yup. Definitely true. Much better distributions too from Pepe. Would be absolutely deadly these days with Sturridge, Suarez and Sterling running on to his balls. tongue.gif

Spot on.

Let your emotion wear down abit and look at it carefully, you guys will know why we play like that. 3 points are all that matter. Let's move on, Kopites! It's a win and no injury or red card. I will take it.

Now looking at the next game. Does anyone know that IF not saying that it will but if Chelsea snatches a win at Anfield. The advantage is back in City's hands due to goal difference.

Our frail defence might prove too costly come the end of the season.

I firmly believe City will still drop at least 2 more points before the end of the season. The Crystal Palace and Everton away games are tough.
Secondly, advantage is on our side as Chelsea will have be focusing on the CL semi finals. Expect 1 or 2 key players to be on the bench next week.

Having that said, we should just worry about ourselves and aim to win all games. Ugly, last minutes goals etc... I don't care, as long as we win. My heart can take it.

Anyway am a bit dissapointed Coutinho didn't play like he did against ManCity.

Notice how he seems a little off recently? He needs to rediscover his magic next game hopefully. He is now 1 goal away from matching CR7's record of 31 goals in a 38 game season. But I want him to break the Shearer and Cole 34 goal record. 5 goals in 3 games!! rclxms.gif

plenty of questions on mignolet performance.. however I must say reina was always lobbying to leave and heart is no longer with the club..

so.. no choice but to let him go and BR have made it clear he is pissed with reina comment intention to move to other club..

well.. its a norm manager got their own fav players.. so in BR we trust..

The story of Lucas Leiva.

His best performance for Liverpool was basically during KK's era circa Jan 11 - May 11 and during this "glorious era" he was regularly singled out by the cheerleading squad as textbook reference for keeping under par players for 5 years in hope they can mature into Vieras and Makeleles.

The Lucas blueprint doesn't exactly hold true anymore, isn't?

I also think they fear injury. Look at the tackle on Sterling. This Norwich dont care if they break some of our players' legs. Two-footed challenge by that Johnson guy should have been Red Card.

As for thinking about next game, naturally, human mindset la. Comfortable already, get over excited.

Harsh. He hasn't exactly played much since coming back from the injury. It's also worth noting that he is now playing in a different role than before. Remember how Hendo sucked playing on the wings? Lucas hasn't played in a more forward midfield role for a very very long time and it might not suit him at all.

Harsh? Yes. The other day we were talking about how the fringe players need to step up to the fore when called upon and today he was disappointing. Xavi did ok though.

Not playing in usual position I can understand, but to fluff a mouth watering goalmouth chance like that? Come on. Imagine if we are locked at 3-3, that goal could be the one that make or break Liverpool's title charge.

Hope he do better in the next game. Seriously.

#ragemode.
*
That's a bit harsh on Sakho, I watched the replay again, Sakho slipped by his own leg and drop towards Snodgrass.
But yeah, Sakho is really under perform, he played badly.

Ok now that we officially 'book' a spot for next years CL. I'm sure we will look into greeting players in for better reinforcements. With added games midweek, it's gonna tax us. We are fortunate that we were overexposed by our lack of depth via the fringe players. I don't think our forwards (if they all stay fit & injury free) are much of a concern, but most definately are midfielders and defense.

I would like reina to return but I think we have shut the door on him after going thru the weird episode of him with Barcelona's supposedly open vacant slot. I don't blame him but with FSG pushing for tighter player salaries, I don't see reina back in Liverpool anymore. I think agger will remain for another season but I he will figure even lesser games to ensure he is needed for certain crucial euro games.

And there is no silly reasons for good players not joining us with excuses of no CL. Though we might still lose out on players demands (salary) to those London/big(er) city clubs

I think JM' Chelsea will put resources in their next clash with atletico mardrid, it's is the cup of CL that roman desires most. It will take away all pain of not winning domestic league title.

That being said, we will not rest until after the final game with Newcastle

With our 35th match down, here's 3 things which I observe :

1. Unsung SAS. While we applaud our Strike force (SAS or SSS), 2 heroes who should be given credit for the work they've done is Stevie & Skrtel for keeping the team in the game (it can be SSS if Simon be more consistent). Both of them did the dirty defensive work from covering our FBs today and cleaning up all the lose balls that are loss in the middle of the park. They were a stone wall today and limited the opportunities that Norwich could have gotten.

2. Sterling. What's left to be said on the Best Young Player in the world today (as quoted by a few Footballing Media). Have not turn 20 yet and he comes up with winners today. Every match we see him improve and do new stuff and his long shot (he rarely takes them but now I'll be encouraging him) is so pure and accurate that our MFs could learn from him. And he's still learning. He could be our next Suarez (am expecting him to try nutmegs soon tongue.gif)

3. Defense still inconsistent. Sure some days they are strong but others they still look inconsistent. Crosses could have been better prevented and Johnson revert to his pre-winning run self today. We can escape such things today or even this season with our vaunted strike force but definitely we need to get stronger FBs next year, both as a First Team starters or to give more competition in this positions.

Lastly glad to see Toffees win again today. Let's have both Merseysiders go for CL smile.gif

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has claimed the Reds turned down the chance to sign Everton full-back Seamus Coleman, prior to his move to Goodison Park in 2009.

The Republic of Ireland international, who famously cost former Toffees boss David Moyes just £60,000, has been in sparkling form for Roberto Martinez's side this season.

“If Rafael Benitez had been a little more open-minded during his final year as Liverpool manager, Seamus Coleman could be wearing a red shirt at Anfield last night and not a blue Everton jersey,” Aldridge wrote.

Next season Sterling should be wearing no. 11... hopefully he will continue to improve and who knows, he might be as good as the great John Barnes someday.

Defensively we've been struggling against aerial threat especially from crosses and set-pieces. It has been our main defensive weakness for the last few seasons... unfortunately, heading is not quite something that you can teach in training... I guess.

If Everton qualify to UCL and Arsenal wins the FA Cup, team finished 7th in the league (currently MU) will qualify to Europa League, rite? hmm.gif

poor performance by Johnson and Allen. especially in second half. our defence were not so good. i don't know but they sometimes lack of focus and communication. 1st goal is due to lack of communication between Mignolet and Skrtel.

its good we can win another small margin goals. 3 points matter now. but Sterling is turning to be awesome players. lets hope he doesn't get any injury like Owen

Thought Allen performed quite well ytd. Especially the first half.

Johnson and Lucas were poor, hope they step up their game against Chelsea. Lucas especially, was slow and made unnecessary fouls

Chelsea will probably rest players against us considering they are now dependent on us and City dropping points even if they win against us. Palace and Newcastle have nothing to play for but pride. I would rather have them playing for pride than them fighting for their lives. Doesn't get any better than that, it is now up to the players to finish the job.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers wants to sign a new deal with the Reds on the condition that he is given more control over player transfers at the club, reports the Daily Mirror. The 41-year old manager believes that he has earned the right to take charge of transfers after taking the club to the cusp of the winning the Premier League title this season.

The Northern Irishman is open to a penning down a new 5-year deal at Anfield, during which he plans to build a new dynasty at the famous club.

Speaking about his future, Rodgers was quoted saying, “It’s one of the leading clubs in the world and I want to be allowed to build and develop the club without interference. I have a great relationship with the owners and, hopefully, we can continue to develop the team. We’ve still got a long way to go, but I’m looking five years ahead. I’m 41, I’ve got many years ahead of me – but there aren’t too many bigger than Liverpool.”

Rodgers also revealed plans of expanding the Anfield stadium, which will help the historic ground accommodate 21,000 more supporters, and he also wishes to attract higher pedigreed players with Champions League football in the bag for next season.

Rodgers currently has just 1 year left on his present deal with Liverpool, and is reportedly on the short-list of many top teams including the likes of FC Barcelona. It would be advisable for the Liverpool board to give him the control he desires as the Northern Irishman has already done wonders at the club.

Will you sign / extend this contract if you are the owner of LFC ?

They can't be forgiven for collapsing the 2nd time again. Some more vs West Brom of all ppl who are somewhat safe from relegation. I'd figure Palace gonna scalp them in the match after this, then Reds will show them how to get a result at Selhurst Park (ala Sunderland).

Current Status if team wins all games :

1. Liverpool - 89 (with win over Chelsea)
2. MCity - 86
3. Chelsea - 81

If Liverpool lose to Chelsea (win the rest) and MC Win all

1. Liverpool or MCity - 86 (down to goal difference)
3. Chelsea - 84

Your scenario (again if Reds win over chelsea)

1. Liverpool 89
2. Mcity - 84 (due to likely better goal difference
3. Chelsea - 81

YOu can calculate from the part on top. Every draw means the team drops 2 points while every lose means drop 3 points. If MCity draws, we can afford one lose which I think they will from either of the 2 coming matches (don't forget Everton at Goodison as well).

That said, why not go for 14th straight to tie the longest winning streak and beat that in the 1st game of the new season with win no. 15 smile.gif

A repeat of Sunderland please. City to grab an early goal. Somehow West Brom equalises from a set piece followed by Amalfitano putting them in front with another wonder goal out of nowhere. In the last minutes of the game, as Pepe Mel's team always do, concedes a late late equaliser. 2 points dropped for City. rclxms.gif

They are not completely safe from relegation.
Yes, they have 2 games in hand, but are just 3 points off the relegation zone.

They must win as much as possible to ensure safety, which is good for us.
I expect they will fight to the death against City.

Right now as below assuming City win their 2 games in hand

3 points advantage over MC
5 points advantage over Chel

if MC drop any points you can add on the advantage accordingly based on points dropped.

As of now 2 win + 1 draw is sufficient to do the trick. Do remember MC do have superiority on GD over us.

Hahaha enjoy it as long as we can but yes move on and don't dwell too long on it. Chances are in the coming years EPL will be like La Liga (where Barca rotates league titles with RM and the odd dark horse like AM winning it occassionally) but in this case it will be 3-teams vying (Reds, Blues (both light & normal) with Gunners as dark horse).

LOL, when/if we win the BPL, I will unleash the fury of 20+ years of ignominy from the Red Devils. No remorse for Moyes, MU, home wreckers (hint see pic above), rascist people who thinks others are rascist, trolls who think being 4th all the time is an achievement, etc etc  icon_rolleyes.gif

What Giggs said is true. Champions do not collapsed like that and in the golden words of Rafa, all great teams must be able to defend a 2 goal lead and see it through.

Instead of venting our fury at the critics, maybe it's better if we use Giggsy's words to motivate the team, recalibrate the defense and get a clean sheet next game.

Truth to be told, we are leaking goals like Tranmere Rovers.

2 points dropped for City. rclxms.gif

If MC draw/lose tonight,

How many win/draw do LFC need to has to win title ?
*
Mathematically speaking, if Manchester City draw against Brom and Palace, they will be on 73 points with 3 games left.
If Chelsea lose to us, they will be 75 points with 2 games left.

So if we beat Chelsea, 83 points for us and the title is ours.

Hahahah perhaps I should quote Reds to unleash the fury of their SSSSS machine on all comers that stand in their way smile.gif

The trend in the past years is to win tough games 1-0. They are just as nailbiting as winning 3-2 or 4-3 or 2-1 which Liverpool is doing now. Perhaps now its a change because of the way we play. During the Rafa / GH era we lose out because we can't score nor come back while MU was slogging 1-0 wins (that Machedda kissed haunted me for a bit and insulting to Stevie G all the way if u had seen that).

That said, still no excuse for some of the defensive calamities we had. Not all can be blamed solely on the attacking philosophy BR is embarking on.

*On yesterday's game, Lucas looks a bit lost when he run all the way up. I think he is not used to running into the box compared to Allen/Hendo? Suarez did looked rather disappointed as well when Lucas blow his second try there.

Looks like the only person left for Suarez to pass the ball to in a goal scoring opportunity is Sterling.

I'm worried that our keeper can't handle crosses well and our defense have a hard time dealing with teams that bombard crosses into the penalty box. Mignolet really needs to improve his reading of the game and handling the ball.

Yeah the way BR sets teams up, can see even Allen / Lucas got chance to get in box. Allen has improved since in this game his shot is on target. From past few games, where his shot is off target, to today and next couple of games on target, and to the future hopefully it becomes goals for him smile.gif

Lucas still needs to catch up. (he got shot on target yes but at that range it'd be stupid if he cant get it on unlike Allen which needs to shoot at a faster pace and in angle).

There are usually more people when we are attacking; Allen/Cout/Johnson/Sterling etc. Only headache is Hendo is out, Allen/Cout subbed out, Johnson became defensive and thus yeah lol, Sterling the only one left.

Allen was decent last night with runs/attempts but I thought Lucas was doing decent in his defense too, at least until we became defensive/counter-attacking after the 2 goals lead. Once both Cout/Allen is subbed, Lucas need to make forward runs and lol, while his runs are not bad IMO, there was no one else in front to pass and he is like sesat already.

Way more than Barkley for sure. Guy was running a bit like a headless chicken vs MU (ok a bit over exaggerate but the fact I see him keep falling over during that match shows his not as strong as our Sterling Hulk smile.gif )

Yeah Allen seems to have a lot of energy running in the box and doing defensive work but his energy levels is still not like our Energizer bunny Hendo but can see his trying.

Lucas probably coz he spends most of this time as DM and never had to venture into opposition box that he tires towards the end of the game where you can see him doing lazy tackles and giving away fouls.

It's no secret BR likes athletic footballers (especially MF & FBs) who can cover at least 10+ miles in a game per match with Hendo leading this stat at around 11.5 (or something like that).

Our BR, the Super Cool One smile.gif

Rodgers only bristled once, when he was asked whether Chelsea’s defeat on Saturday evening had helped his Liverpool team yesterday.

“No, not at all,” Rodgers said. “No one has helped us win 11 games in succession. No one has helped us score 96 goals.

“We have never worried about the results of our rivals.

“Our principle here is that you have to help yourself.”

Cause we don't have other league/cup to focus thats why we don't need too many players sitting at bench.

Now we have secured Champions League, this summer transfer windows will be interesting to watch. biggrin.gif

i think manu wants out of europe too next season to concentrate on the whole season. likely big big big overhaul in stored. i think moyes will be dumped for sure.

what we did was a sacrifice & it's probably safe to say it's unique & allowed the change of certain guards and even our younglings were moved up ranks.

Won't he be fit in time though? But no matter who plays on Johnson's flank, he has to play much better than how he did yesterday. Even Azpilicueta has more pace than him. If he's outnumbered 2 to 1, confirm KO.

On another note, yesterday shows how much we missed Hendo's energy in midfield and how susceptible the defence and the goalkeeper is (again) when we're raided by opponents using the aerial route.

But....#janjimenang laugh.gif No doubt the team has to play better against Chelsea next weekend. Playing at Anfield helps. Hopefully Sturridge will be fit too.

Hopefully not. tongue.gif He was their best player last time out so I really hope not and even if he is I hope Jose will rest him for CL.

I won't even be thinking about 20 yet even if we win it this season. Next season will be much more challenging and will test BR's ability in squad rotation.

Chelsea and City will no doubt be thinking about further strengthening their squad.

United will "apparently" spend 200m to overhaul the squad. Is Moyes good enough? I don't know I hope not but I'm not counting them out. They might just bounce back maybe not as title challengers but might really fight for top 4 next time around.

Arsenal is a different side with Ramsey and Walcott back so we have to be wary. Wonder if Wenger will continue splashing the cash this summer.

Spurs might bring in someone decent this time to replace Sherwood.

Our Merseyside rival is a strong contender for top 4 too.

If our main objective this season is to breach the top 4 then our objective next season should be to consolidate our position there to prove this season is not a one season wonder. Bonus objective is to get out of CL group stages into the last 16 at least since our group is expected to be tough.

He is doing rather horribly this season with his planning/tactics but to call him a specialist in failure is just rude for Mou IMO. However I don't agree with AW on our luck though, we didn't have Suarez in the starting games + our bench choices are very limited. BR did very well with the choices he have and it is not like Wenger hated the fact that they have CL to play earlier.

I agree with their claim - we can focus only on the league but let's not forget we have our fair share of issues with injuries.

Early part of season - Suarez was banned then Sturridge was out for awhile before the whole SAS thing click

Our first choice LB is out for like whole of the season - guys his name is Enqirue in case anyone forgets him tongue.gif

In Dec we had injury issues with CB (Agger and Sakho) and CM (Lucas and Allen). Through the festive season Henderson was playing as if he has been on 24 hours shift.

Our squad was formed to fight for 4th and my points is we also had injuries issues. Give credit when it is due wink.gif

The next game needed sturidge(team player version)

Coutinho is needed at midfield area not up front on the wing. His pressing at the middle is important to keep oil club midfield in check.along with allen to replace hendo.
Also agger needed to come in for sakho.hus exp will prove invaluable in match like this.

442 diamond

Sterling on top of diamond n interchange with coutinho at the left.

Allen start n replace by lucas or vice versa.

Agger come in to help skrtel.

This will be a goal scoring contest with oil club needed to win at all cost.

Prepare for another heart pumping fast till wan heart attack match session. Maybe we all liverpool fan need to learn calm n keep cool else we cant support pool in the next 30 years .lol.

Keep calm keep believe.we can win it!!!

of course we would like him to stay but that board must have plans already. From champion to 7th is too much of a damage to take both in term of reputation and financially. Doesn't surprise me they sack him in the summer. Question, return of SAF or if they could get someone they actually 'like' to take up the job?

He would be getting a payout around GBP25million if he get sacked. Maybe that the only reason why he still the Manager.

In summer most probably if there is a clause saying that he didnt perform as what is expected maybe they can sack him for a cheaper option.

If not they might be sticking with him for another season or so....

A bit unfair to criticize Wenger when his team is crippled with injuries. It's always easy to kick someone when they're down on the floor. We have excelled this season and we have suffered some injuries this season tho not nearly as extensive as Arsenal had this season. They really missed Walcott and Ramsay. We would moan too if he had lost Hendo, Sterling and Suarez for large part of the season. Look at Chelsea without Hazard, City without Aguero and Yaya. All teams would suffer if they lose their key players.

Having said that, i think we have also managed our season quite well. We lost Sturride, Agger, Gerrard and Lucas to injuries this season, Lucas in particular didn't play nearly as much as others and it showed yesterday. Suarez too missed the first 5 games of the season and Enrique long term injury has forced us to play a rightback at leftback.

The key thing for me is that BR has somehow managed to tinker and reshape the team to cope with those injuries and the result has been stunning. Not only has he managed it but he made us even more dangerous.

Arsenal fans are angry with AW becoz they know their team are crippled, but AW still reluctantly reinforce player to to replace and sustain their squad. If he had getting Ramsey 2.0 in Jan transfer windows. They wouldn't have been getting the sxxxy results.

We were lucky coz we didn't reinforce anyone in Jan windows and i was furious becoz our thin squad are few keys players out with injuries. Luckly we over achieved.

He was picked by SAF after all. The board might be scared to sack him and leave SAF red-faced. IMO, DM should be given the chance to prove critics wrong. He had very big shoes to fill this season. I think there's a small chance he'll stay on but if they're not near the top 4 come middle of next season, he's a goner for sure.

Wenger's unfortunate with the injuries to his key players this season. Definitely affected Arsenal's title challenge. Having said that though, their away performances against the other teams in the top 5 teams this season were horrendous! His tactics were poor in all of those games and surely has to take some of the blame for their failure in the league this season.

Great credit has to be given to BR for how he's managed the team this season. We have the thinnest squad among the top 4 and some players were injured in some parts of the season but he has eked out whatever possible from each player this season and more often than not, he's tinkered with the team's game plan on the fly during matches to the team's advantage.

The last transfer window was a difficult one as most good players are either cup tied or not available. You either overpay for the player or suffer being handicapped by the player being cuptied - or both. The manc bought Mata yet he couldn't play in Europe and they really missed him. It's why we passed on Salah and couldn't get Kono because his club didn't want to part with the player. The capitulation of Arsenal was a combined factors of players being injured and them not able to find suitable replacements, and then compounded by tricky fixtures. The odds were already stacking against him unfortunately.

I'm over the moon man. Who would have thought we'd go on an 11 game winning streak?

Exceptional performance from Sterling, Skrtel (except from when he started tugging shirts again) and Joe Allen. Brilliant decision by Rodgers to have him and Coutinho rotate in that central role. He's showing a lot more maturity and composure in his game. Superb effort for the first goal. Skrtel was a monster in the air and I reckon Norwich scored because Mignolet gave him a shout but failed to punch the ball clear. Allen pressed brilliantly in defence (though he was somewhat fortuitous not to give away a freekick at the edge of the box in the 1st half) and exchanged some nice passes with Suarez in the opposition half. This is the Allen I've wanted to see i.e. one that is given the freedom to attack the opposition box instead of being the last man in a midfield triangle.

Johnson had a dour game though. His positional sense was appalling and he looked lost as Norwich players were running around him. Hardly ventured forward. I hope he has a good World Cup so we can fetch a decent price for him. Thanks Glen but we need to look forward.

Agreed. I think this is where Wenger has failed to either see or acknowledge BR's ability to reshape his team based on the circumstances. Losing games can happen in football but to suffer humiliating defeats is another story. We had tough fixtures back in December where we visited City and Chelsea within a week yet we put up a good fight. You simply cannot let your team suffer humiliating defeats as it will mentally wreck you.

Nice tat on Skrtel. "I came, I saw, I conquered". Befitting of the "Colossus" tag that BR put on him. Not since Ron Yeats has any Liverpool defender been bestowed with that honour.

Speaking of which, Dillion had best start planning on where he should get his tattoo.

Lol I alredi planning to do something that cannot grow back from botak when we win the EPL this season.

How bout this since so many discussion going on.

Tittle no. 19 - lets just celebrate and get bans and do what u like.
Title no. 20 - pilgrimage to anfield and hunt down Brendan Rodgers for his autograph. Give time for us to save up.
Title no. 21 - shaved our heads (Dillon give u 2 yrs to convince ur boss that bald is cool, I also know the feeling). If we can get a couple of ppl do this, we tattoo the liver bird back on its perch at the back of our head, take instagrams snapshots and send to the anfield hierarchy . The tattoo can be sticker but bald should be eye catchy smile.gif

True. Sterling had problems settling in the first half of the season but his absence was mostly due to tactical decision rather than injury. Yeah i did mention about Suarez and Sturridge but the important thing to note is that we didn't lose them all at once. We always had a fail safe to weather the storm.

Mourinho n pellegrini are using the excuse of liverpool playing lesser games to cover their face... I really hate this. Did they ever think that wat kind of squad v hav during the start of the season? How many star players v got compare to them? Who wanna join us compare wit them during last summer transfer window? Most important is who's financial support is higher? I admit that during the start of the season, i considered liverpool as mid table team only. But it is the development of the players throughout the season that is impressive which lead us where v r 2day... Not bcox v play less game or suarez is god but it is the believe n mentality of the whole team.

Leeds United's fall from grace typifies what can happen when a club over extends itself. We were in a similar position not long ago and just days away from administration ourselves. 2 years of missing out on the UCL after taking out loans in expectation of revenue from the competition ultimately caught up with a club that was on the ascendancy. I quite enjoyed watching Leeds play back then. John Lukic was one of my favourite keepers and Lee Chapman, one of my favourite strikers. David Batty, Tony Dorigo, the list goes on. Interesting to note now that El-Hadji Diouf plays for Leeds.

Speaking of which I enjoyed watching "The Damned United" which depicted Brian Clough's 44 day reign at the club.

Can't hardly blame them. They r not doing it just to get at Liverpool. It's more for saving their job. It is excuses so they don't get fired. Mourinho the best of all. From beginning he say he cannot win EPL and guess what is coming true. He say he don't have real strikers and guess what it's a sig for roman to splash the cash. Anyway if ur job is on the line and u can't justify reasons u think any of us would go up and tell our boss sorry I not good enough.

Just take it as entertainment value smile.gif so far only one mgr I know has been truly honest all season long.

I think those excuses that we are not playing in European are cheap. If they are truly confident on this, they would have talk about it during the start of the season and not when we're at top of the table.

Actually, Ah Moo is doing a very fine job, if i were chelsea fan, i wouldn't complain too much, if they win BPL or UCL cup. then it will only cement the ah moo as a great manager. With the group he inherited from passed manager, and lacked of striking power, i have no complain about it coz i know next year they will get a super power striker in Costa to challenge again.

For Man City, they also doing no bad consider the squad they have. It's just both clubs are unfortunate that Liverpool are over achieve this season and hard for them to defy any logic on us other than that. But I know BR have a lot to do with that, just how much he able to psycho the players to play wellllll above their heads. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Problem is not that they're winning but who they are losing to.

If MC was winning the league then Mour has a good excuse for not winning because he has no strikers.
If Chelsea is winning then Pell has a good excuse because his defence is not good enough.
But liverpool winning is a slap on both their faces because, liverpool has a vastly inferior squad & shouldn't be able to keep pace with these teams. Indeed, Liverpool winning the league would be a slap on Moyes, Arsene's and Spurs faces because at the start of the season, liverpool's squad was no better than 6th best in the EPL.

Well said. If you tell anyone back in August 2013 that Liverpool will be in poll position in April they will laugh at you. They will tell you their squad is bigger and better, and that their manager and players are better and full of experience. Nothing has changed nearly a year later. We still have a smaller squad and we still lack title experience. All this less games excuse is just to make them feel better about their own shortcomings.

Seriously I don't understand Chelsea lack of strike force, its not really a fact after all. They got Torres, Demba Ba, and Eto, three of them is not weak like everyone said. Its Mourinho ownself can't utilise the power of them three. Torres did well in the European level, Ba is one of the leading scorer last season, Eto still have the striker instinct in him. They do have Schurrle who can play striker also.

If compare between Arsenal and Chelsea, I would say Arsenal lack of strike force more. Both Sanogo and Park Chu-young is definitely weaker than the 3 Chelsea striker, Giroud I have no comment, his performance is like roller coaster. Their other choice would be Podolski, which is good.

Liverpool? We played with Sturridge and Aspas(oh my) the early season. And we rely only on 2 strikers the whole season which is Sturridge and Suarez.

But still Mourinho can excel so far in the UCL and challenging the PL, He really is the choosen one, without utilising the three strikers properly, they still can score and standing so high in the league.

first its not about the quantity more on quality problem.

Giroud early this season is better than all our striker, of cuz now a little bit lost.

all of them seem like they score a lot of goals, but to be fair..Eto only score at Stamford Bridge..and one or two UCL..Torres only good for European games..while Ba..always a hit and miss..actually all of them are hit and miss..we cant rely on single striker to carry us thru all games and develop chemistry and understanding between players.

we rotate strikers almost every games.

I dont have problem on how Mou use the strikers, he use the right striker, for the right games agains the right opponent..but they all hit and miss if they hit..only for one or two games then all lost again, we rotate new striker..and must start again..and it also effect the 3 players behind striker..because we need them to serve the striker..more uncertainties here..

Its different with Liverpool cuz you accommodate 2 strikers..if either one of them injured or rested..the chemistry and understanding is still there.

Top 4: LFC can compete for title because they don't have anything else to focus.

Below Top 4 : LFC no other things to focus also can't top 4. PFfftttttttt. Still dare to say aim for top 4 HAHAHAHAHAAHA

So ?

Definitely true but there were 2 exceptions, Diego Milito and Benni McCarthy. But Jose didn't exactly stay for long at both those clubs so the sample size is only one season which makes you wonder if they could replicate it in subsequent seasons.

Just have a look at Drogba, only for ONE season had he managed a decent goal return of 33 goals in all competitions under Jose. He was mostly used as a battering ram to bring others into play instead of as a scoring outlet.

Even Eto'o under Jose at Inter only managed a total of 16 in all competitions. Now 4 years on he has managed an even better goal per game return than from his time at Inter so statistically he still is the same if not a better player that won Jose his 2nd CL title.

The only striker who had a pretty good scoring rate for more than a season under Jose was Benzema. But I would prefer to discount his inclusion in this discussion because that Madrid team had some other worldly talents namely Ronaldo who demands so much attention it makes life so much easier for others playing alongside him. It is also important to note that Jose preferred Benzema over Higuain who had a better goal return because of his ability to link up with the midfield to bring Ronaldo into play as the main scoring outlet.

My conclusion is Jose has never really fancied out and out goalscorers and instead preferred his strikers to play a more support role with goals coming from midfield therefore us seeing Hazard scoring more than ever this season.

the way i read all the info given, i think the striker that suit jose is probably andy carrol.. well andy cant score but he's good enough pushing keepers head to let others score

Chelsea is lacking a striker is probably a myth half true at best. Instead of blaming the strikers they should be asking why aren't the midfield scoring more goals.

During Jose's first stint at Chelsea, Drogba was averaging 15 league goals a season. Then there was Lampard easily chipping in at least 20 league goals alongside the likes of Robben, Duff, JCole with at least 10 each.

Compared to what they have this season? Schurrle 7 Willian 3 Oscar 8 Ramires 1.

Nowhere near good enough compared the the old Chelsea Jose had.

QUOTE(Cloud0890 @ Apr 21 2014, 08:49 PM)

Which is why the current Real Madrid team with the best twin attacking midfielders via ronaldo & bale is something mourino salivate to have. Too bad the Real Madridfc felt they weren't able to prolong their working relationship with him.

He has that charisma of a good manager but at times his own stubbornness to adapt to players strength is his own achilles heel.

Player politic bro. Casillas dislike for Maureen is well known. Then he got Ronnie to join his anti-Maureen gang. With multi million dollars players vs Maureen, there is only gonna be 1 winner. The players.

I think Maureen has a chance to win UCL. I really feel that way. His lucky win against PSG just reminds me of us in 2005 vs Olympiakos and also Juventus and of course against Chelsea which Maureen claimed as a ghost goal. We did the impossible.

If he win it with Chelsea, I am going to be happy for him because I always like that England team win UCL. It strengthen the 4-spot UCL for EPL team.

On this note, I disagree. As I mentioned before I would like to see Paisley's record of 3 Euro cups unmatched (except by a Reds mgr) though chances are it will happen soon since so many managers now currently have won 2 (you'll see me supporting Diego Simone since his the only SF without an Euro cup as a mgr, the rest won 2 each).

Secondly, and admittedly I'm bias against Chelsea since Roman / Mourinho period. If it was any other mgr or team (except MU), I would have support them but don't know why Blues get on my nerves (didn't have that during the Gullit / Zola / Vialli days). I seriously respect Mou (and not just his tactics / man mgmt. but also his penchant to help the less fortunate), but I just can't bring myself to wanting to support him to win (unless its to Reds advantage).

That said may the best team win the UCL and I'm looking to see an AM / BM final smile.gif

Hahha I see

You know when I mentioned 'Kerry Dixon' to some fans of Chelsea (when they got smitten by roman/mourino bug) they said "who?" rclxub.gif

Myself and some of my friends who support Chelsea prefer the creativity of Chelsea's play during Zola days.

I think many will hope for AM/BM but there are those too who would prefer Chelsea vs RM. More to "write" about the feud between mourino n his previous team sweat.gif

damn... a deserved win for City.. WBA is being far too negative. they just sit back, not closing down the opponents, rarely going forward and when they do, they just give away the ball cheaply...

Anyone knows where I can get the celebration of the 96 match? Tried watching it on LFC.TV last night but home wifi speed was slow like s***, hence can't really enjoy the match. Really want to keep the match as a momento

laugh.gif laugh.gif Nice one

Well, from the rumors it doesn't look good at all for The Chosen One eh? To be fair to him, the squad he inherited wasn't really spectacular, title-winning or not. Some are already past their prime like Evra, Vidic, and Rio.

On another note, City won. It's OK, we seem to do better under more pressure this season tongue.gif 7 points to the title!

So, this season's failure for 'them'.

Is it due to bad managing by Moyes?

Or shitty players, whom only Fergie can make magic out of?

somehow a good manager is not only good in tactical but also motivator. this is what moyes lack of..he's not a good motivator and too many ego in that team. he suppose to slash them early this season.

It proves how superior SAF was. I do not like him, but can't take away his man management and knowledge of the game from him.

Perhaps a little bit of both. Some of their players are really not good enough tbh. At the same time, DM failed to alter his game plan too often even though their opponents have exploited their weaknesses on several occasions during a match.

It's pretty much like when we had Roy. Play like crap also say play well. The players' expectation gets lower and lower, and feels it's okay to lose to Everton.

Not sure what would've happened to the players if SAF lose like this last week.

Vidic will go.

Rumours of Cleverly leaving/to be sold.

Kagawa may leave. Nani perhaps?

You know when I mentioned 'Kerry Dixon' to some fans of Chelsea (when they got smitten by roman/mourino bug) they said "who?"  rclxub.gif

Myself and some of my friends who support Chelsea prefer the creativity of Chelsea's play during Zola days.
I think many will hope for AM/BM but there are those too who would prefer Chelsea vs RM. More to "write" about the feud between mourino n his previous team sweat.gif

same batch with Eddie, Spackman and Pat Nevin..

before Roman era..most of the fans hooked when Gullit in charge..so much flair..so much upsets against big team..and the fans at this time..want to be different so they support chels..hipster much whistling.gif hahahah

Its in our hand. Juz get the 7 point.

Keep believe n keep the faith.

Ct need to win all.to stand a chance.while their current gd is better than us,(if realy level on points, who say we cant score more goal especially agaisnt newcastle?) I doubt ct can get all 12 remaining point tbh.

Let me chose thousand time also I will rather stay in current position than ct

A win agaisnt oil club the title as good as our.

Don't count your chickens yet. Nothing has been won until it is won. Like I said before, every game will get exponentially tougher than the previous one. Having said that, it's nice to know that the fate of the title is in our hands right now.

long time didn't post in this thread..lol...can see new names each day...regarding DM..i believe he really needs almost a total revamp for his squad...he seems already lost the dressing room day by day since early season...once you have lost the dressing room, it's hard to make the team obey you once they're on the field...i wonder if he plays kagawa more often..the situation would be different i guess...

Just finished watching the 30 for 30 Hillsborough edition. Emotional stuff mate. Seething with anger after hearing how they tried to cover up the incident, blaming it on "drunk" Liverpool fans. Now that the independent committee have revealed their findings, I hope it's only a matter of time before the names of our brethren are cleared and the real culprits are revealed

Guys, you do realize that Citeh are the only team who will overtook us anytime we slip and drop point? We can afford to drop 4 points to chelsea coz we are 5 points ahead of them. But Citeh, we just 2 points ahead of them(assumed that they won all the games) We can't relax, and hope our good psycho doctor can do more magic to psycho the players to keep them in focus for 3 more games. We can't hope other teams drop points, we have to do it ourselves, the hard ware, the liverpool way!!!

The pressure is there, mourino, pellegrini, wenger were all expected to lead their respective clubs to glory (league title)

Rodgers & Liverpool has surpassed the target expected of a (7th placed in previous season) clinching a CL spot.

Granted we face our own fans and clubs history to recapture the elusive league title after all these years given our surprise pole position with some games to go

We are 3pts ahead not 2pts ahead of Man City(if they win the extra game they have). We need 7pts out of the 3 games to secure the title.

I agreed we cant hope others to drop points. Chelsea next. Lets hope to guys will get another 3pts at home.

I'm more worried with Sakho.. the last time we met Chelsea, he had a nightmare performance. Still remember everyone laughing and boo-ing everytime he makes a pass. even a simple short pass went straight to Chelsea player. It still haunted me.. everytime he's in possession of the ball especially in our defensive third, it really makes me worried. He is a good defender thou, in term of defending but with the ball, still lot of works to do. He should learn more from Agger... those silly errors could cost us dearly.

Simply put we can only afford to draw once and win twice to be crowned champions.

Well said, we ain't got no time to focus on what has been done. Let the by gone be by gone.
Our focus is now to trash the toothless Blues... and welcum back Abang Torres
*
I doubt Torres will figure (starting 11) in Jose plans the last couple of Chelsea games.

They probably are going gung-ho (for broke) againsts the current leaders of la liga. They want it the CL trophy. Mourino wants it. RA loves another go at it.

Not implying we should be complesant when we meet Chelsea at anfield. We should signal this young Liverpool has come of age.

Already the media is pouring madness adulation. To Raheem Sterlings ability. I hope it doesn't get into his head. He is still young. Hope it won't be another Owen 2.0 rclxub.gif

if we cant get the job done ourselves, then we cant expect others to do it for us. we know how hard it is to get anything from them. but if Sunderland could, there's a chance someone might be able do it too... City has a game in hand but it's yet to win.

Sterling improved tremendiously this season..... really a changed player!
Owen 2.0 or not wait another 2 - 3 years at least then we'll know. I hope he'll be with us until at least 28.
besides, I hope BR will gv more chance to Ibe and Wisdom next season. RB Johnson is shaky this season, never the same person before his injury. Ibe can be back up striker as he got pace and I'd choose him over Aspas up front anytime.... icon_rolleyes.gif

Btw, any update on Sturridge?

Goal difference will only matter if we lose and that is by a minimum of one goal so the goal difference will be 5. At that point we will have 2 games left to catch up. Assuming City continue winning all 4 remaining games by just 1 goal they will be ahead by a difference of 9 goals. We will then need to win by a total of 5 goals in each of the 2 matches to go ahead by 1 goal difference.

So if it comes down to goal difference we are practically screwed. All we can hope for is Everton and Palace to do us a favour in the next 2 matches to give us some breathing room.

Chelsea manage to win at Etihad when City was scored for fun last time. all pundit predict City win but Chelsea proved them wrong.

this show that we can look them slightly. they have good young midfield. and also Eto'o who can score at crucial time. Ba also seem improve lately. hope that Hazard still cant play against us. and Oscar form is not good as early season.

We can exploit their young left back. and Ivanovic at RB.

we might face problem with their set piece.

and they have Luiz and Matic who are helping them when defend.

Chelsea strong when their counter attack and they love when opponent attacks them. they have a problem facing team which is park bus.

win the next game we can win the title without even playing the last 2 game.

the last game vs newcastle is a guranteed 3 point.

it will be the suarez show. thumbup.gif

No way. No games is guaranteed 3 points. Saw how to slogged against Norwich? Wins against Chelsea then Crystal Palce is good enough for second place only, unless Man City draw one of their remaining 4 matches, then a win and 2 draws is sufficient.

It's inconceivable to believe that Everton would throw the game given what's at stake. The club may be rivals but there has always been a healthy respect especially since Hillsborough. Merseyside was united again after the Rhys Jones murder. The payout for qualification and progression in the Champions League is substantial and certainly massive for a club like Everton who have always been working on a tight budget. Imagine how much stronger they'd be next season with a couple of quality acquisitions. The last time they were this close, they were eliminated in the qualifying rounds and I do not think they'll let this opportunity slip. So yes, Everton will be going all out to do us a "favour", no doubt.

yup sense that a few weeks ago. non of the manu board publicly spoke or said anything even after their win over newcastle.
I sense they are working behind the scene quickly to ensure manu isn't gonna suffer the fate like us 20+ years ago. They were was just waiting for a manu defeat to chop him.

The work for the new manager & challenges ahead probably were already in motion

Not only that, his predecessor's achievements meant he was under immense pressure (especially from fans) to succeed from the get-go. Plus,he inherited a title-winning squad which hardly changed. He was expected to do great things the moment he signed that contract.

Surprised that they sacked him even before the season ended. What a slap on Ferguson's face!

I was not the least bit surprised that Moyes did so bad this season because he seems to be trying to replicate his Everton at OT!

What surprised me was that MU's management didn't even 'give face' to the old man for one more season. Having said that, the financial disaster facing the club which probably may not even be playing European football next season, may have frightened their American owners out of their wits.

Perhaps, they may yet give the old chap a bit of face by issuing a statement that it was SAF who advised them to do it! Hah!

read somewhere that they only need to pay 1 year salary or around 4.5mil. so definitely there's some clause in the contract that requires him to achieve certain target.

That reminds me..back to serious business : the game against Chelski!

Must win. Maureen trying to emulate AF nowadays in all the wrong things - the worst (so far) being getting the Swansea player sent off.

So..must win!

Hmm wasn't there a rumour of Daniel Levy looking to replace Sherwood with Van Gaal at the end of the season? If so did Manu just jumped ahead of the queue? Haha Levy must have wished he sacked Sherwood sooner then.

Thanks for all the hijacks Levy, you are about to get a taste of your own medicine! tongue.gif
