1. Defence piss poor especially the fullbacks. Not closing down on overlapping players and crosses.

2. Mignolet always a suspect when coming off the ground. Great stopper but really poor in the air.

3. Lucas just doesn't have the offensive impetus of Hendo and is trying maybe too hard thus conceding too many fouls and losing valuable possession.

4. Sakho too is a suspect today but did okay overall.

QUOTE(lp16 @ Apr 20 2014, 09:18 PM)
I'm never really convinced that Mig is a better keeper than Pepe. Pepe is so commanding and his distribution is 2nd to none. BR just don't like him. Don't know why.....

Also I've no idea why BR loves Moses so much! Whenever he plays, he doesn't contribute much. Better to play Alberto.
*
I would say Mignolet has better reflexes than Reina though.

Ya, but Pepe communicates better with his defenders. Mig's afraid of crosses. He's the next James! drool.gif  rclxub.gif

Yup. Definitely true. Much better distributions too from Pepe. Would be absolutely deadly these days with Sturridge, Suarez and Sterling running on to his balls. tongue.gif

Now looking at the next game. Does anyone know that IF not saying that it will but if Chelsea snatches a win at Anfield. The advantage is back in City's hands due to goal difference.

Our frail defence might prove too costly come the end of the season.

I firmly believe City will still drop at least 2 more points before the end of the season. The Crystal Palace and Everton away games are tough.
Secondly, advantage is on our side as Chelsea will have be focusing on the CL semi finals. Expect 1 or 2 key players to be on the bench next week.

Having that said, we should just worry about ourselves and aim to win all games. Ugly, last minutes goals etc... I don't care, as long as we win. My heart can take it.
*
Yup I'm fairly confident our boys can do it. Was just putting the scenario out there just so you guys know. tongue.gif

I was expecting Suarez to score 4 tonight to reduce the GD difference. tongue.gif  #suarezout

Same here. Maybe not 4 lol but a hat trick at least. rclxms.gif

Notice how he seems a little off recently? He needs to rediscover his magic next game hopefully. He is now 1 goal away from matching CR7's record of 31 goals in a 38 game season. But I want him to break the Shearer and Cole 34 goal record. 5 goals in 3 games!! rclxms.gif

The story of Lucas Leiva.

His best performance for Liverpool was basically during KK's era circa Jan 11 - May 12 and during this "glorious era" he was regularly singled out by the cheerleading squad as textbook reference for keeping under par players for 5 years in hope they can mature into Vieras and Makeleles.

The Lucas blueprint doesn't exactly hold true anymore, isn't?
*
Harsh. He hasn't exactly played much since coming back from the injury. It's also worth noting that he is now playing in a different role than before. Remember how Hendo sucked playing on the wings? Lucas hasn't played in a more forward midfield role for a very very long time and it might not suit him at all.

Seamus Coleman! What a monstrous performance!

Definitely rate him above Flanno at the moment as he offers much more going forward.

QUOTE(Sentinel92 @ Apr 21 2014, 01:39 AM)
Everton would rather relegate themselves then to sell us a plAyer. Unless Coleman himself wants to push it through.

But, imagine Shaw on the left and Coleman on the right. *drooooooooools*
*
Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has claimed the Reds turned down the chance to sign Everton full-back Seamus Coleman, prior to his move to Goodison Park in 2009.

The Republic of Ireland international, who famously cost former Toffees boss David Moyes just £60,000, has been in sparkling form for Roberto Martinez's side this season.

“If Rafael Benitez had been a little more open-minded during his final year as Liverpool manager, Seamus Coleman could be wearing a red shirt at Anfield last night and not a blue Everton jersey,” Aldridge wrote.

QUOTE(terryfu @ Apr 21 2014, 01:52 AM)
With our 35th match down, here's 3 things which I observe :

1. Unsung SAS. While we applaud our Strike force (SAS or SSS), 2 heroes who should be given credit for the work they've done is Stevie & Skrtel for keeping the team in the game (it can be SSS if Simon be more consistent). Both of them did the dirty defensive work from covering our FBs today and cleaning up all the lose balls that are loss in the middle of the park. They were a stone wall today and limited the opportunities that Norwich could have gotten.

2. Sterling. What's left to be said on the Best Young Player in the world today (as quoted by a few Footballing Media). Have not turn 20 yet and he comes up with winners today. Every match we see him improve and do new stuff and his long shot (he rarely takes them but now I'll be encouraging him) is so pure and accurate that our MFs could learn from him. And he's still learning. He could be our next Suarez (am expecting him to try nutmegs soon tongue.gif)

3. Defense still inconsistent. Sure some days they are strong but others they still look inconsistent. Crosses could have been better prevented and Johnson revert to his pre-winning run self today. We can escape such things today or even this season with our vaunted strike force but definitely we need to get stronger FBs next year, both as a First Team starters or to give more competition in this positions.

Lastly glad to see Toffees win again today. Let's have both Merseysiders go for CL smile.gif
*
Lol guess you might be disappointed to learn that his shot was deflected off Michael Turner thus "not pure" tongue.gif

yes Lucas kinda off form last nite. for me Allen form not as good as previous match. but its not terrible.

mathematically already confirm we above arsenal this season. minimum 3rd place. rclxms.gif

Chelsea will probably rest players against us considering they are now dependent on us and City dropping points even if they win against us. Palace and Newcastle have nothing to play for but pride. I would rather have them playing for pride than them fighting for their lives. Doesn't get any better than that, it is now up to the players to finish the job.

LOL, when/if we win the BPL, I will unleash the fury of 20+ years of ignominy from the Red Devils. No remorse for Moyes, MU, home wreckers (hint see pic above), rascist people who thinks others are rascist, trolls who think being 4th all the time is an achievement, etc etc  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Not quite yet for me. Not until I see a sustained period of success for us and failure for them. 1 bad season is not a collapse for me but certainly was fun to see. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(dillonyong @ Apr 21 2014, 09:26 AM)
I have to agree with Giggs. Cant see them collapsing for now. Well, we need at least 23 years later to see that and judge biggrin.gif

Okay moving on. Tonight is the night ha. City vs Brom. Let's curse Manchester City by all means flex.gif
*
A repeat of Sunderland please. City to grab an early goal. Somehow West Brom equalises from a set piece followed by Amalfitano putting them in front with another wonder goal out of nowhere. In the last minutes of the game, as Pepe Mel's team always do, concedes a late late equaliser. 2 points dropped for City. rclxms.gif

LoL, it is still especially if you are still smoking something but surprised that someone know bout 420 here  biggrin.gif

*On yesterday's game, Lucas looks a bit lost when he run all the way up. I think he is not used to running into the box compared to Allen/Hendo? Suarez did looked rather disappointed as well when Lucas blow his second try there.
*
Looks like the only person left for Suarez to pass the ball to in a goal scoring opportunity is Sterling.

Same here. So damn freakin pissed yesterday with him. He looked so clueless whenever he got the ball. Seemed like he went back to his old habits of losing possession far too easily. Other players had to cover his ass a few times! He HAS to step it up next weekend or else he'd be murdered by Hazard/Schurrle.
Sometimes I wish the league table was based on first-half results only. I think we'd be champions by now  laugh.gif

Won't he be fit in time though? But no matter who plays on Johnson's flank, he has to play much better than how he did yesterday. Even Azpilicueta has more pace than him. If he's outnumbered 2 to 1, confirm KO.

On another note, yesterday shows how much we missed Hendo's energy in midfield and how susceptible the defence and the goalkeeper is (again) when we're raided by opponents using the aerial route.
*
Hopefully not. tongue.gif He was their best player last time out so I really hope not and even if he is I hope Jose will rest him for CL.

I vote botak and Tattoo if we win the 20 next season (provided we win the 19 this season la)

Focus on 19 first.
*
I won't even be thinking about 20 yet even if we win it this season. Next season will be much more challenging and will test BR's ability in squad rotation.

Chelsea and City will no doubt be thinking about further strengthening their squad.

United will "apparently" spend 200m to overhaul the squad. Is Moyes good enough? I don't know I hope not but I'm not counting them out. They might just bounce back maybe not as title challengers but might really fight for top 4 next time around.

Arsenal is a different side with Ramsey and Walcott back so we have to be wary. Wonder if Wenger will continue splashing the cash this summer.

Spurs might bring in someone decent this time to replace Sherwood.

Our Merseyside rival is a strong contender for top 4 too.

If our main objective this season is to breach the top 4 then our objective next season should be to consolidate our position there to prove this season is not a one season wonder. Bonus objective is to get out of CL group stages into the last 16 at least since our group is expected to be tough.

Meanwhile, in the other-Northwest-of-England-club's thread, calls for the former other-Merseyside-club's manager's head is stronger than ever.

Do you guys think he should stay? *Ahem* Of course you guys want him to stay.  tongue.gif  But will he be given another season to prove himself though? hmm.gif
*
I'm inclined to believe that if they wanted to do it they would've done so already so no. Looking forward to seeing him splash and burn 200m rclxms.gif
