A bit unfair to criticize Wenger when his team is crippled with injuries. It's always easy to kick someone when they're down on the floor. We have excelled this season and we have suffered some injuries this season tho not nearly as extensive as Arsenal had this season. They really missed Walcott and Ramsay. We would moan too if he had lost Hendo, Sterling and Suarez for large part of the season. Look at Chelsea without Hazard, City without Aguero and Yaya. All teams would suffer if they lose their key players.
Having said that, i think we have also managed our season quite well. We lost Sturride, Agger, Gerrard and Lucas to injuries this season, Lucas in particular didn't play nearly as much as others and it showed yesterday. Suarez too missed the first 5 games of the season and Enrique long term injury has forced us to play a rightback at leftback. The key thing for me is that BR has somehow managed to tinker and reshape the team to cope with those injuries and the result has been stunning. Not only has he managed it but he made us even more dangerous. |

QUOTE(yeelong @ Apr 21 2014, 12:29 PM) Arsenal fans are angry with AW becoz they know their team are crippled, but AW still reluctantly reinforce player to to replace and sustain their squad. If he had getting Ramsey 2.0 in Jan transfer windows. They wouldn't have been getting the sxxxy results. The last transfer window was a difficult one as most good players are either cup tied or not available. You either overpay for the player or suffer being handicapped by the player being cuptied - or both. The manc bought Mata yet he couldn't play in Europe and they really missed him. It's why we passed on Salah and couldn't get Kono because his club didn't want to part with the player. The capitulation of Arsenal was a combined factors of players being injured and them not able to find suitable replacements, and then compounded by tricky fixtures. The odds were already stacking against him unfortunately. We were lucky coz we didn't reinforce anyone in Jan windows and i was furious becoz our thin squad are few keys players out with injuries. Luckly we over achieved. |

QUOTE(8sg9ft @ Apr 21 2014, 12:40 PM) Wenger's unfortunate with the injuries to his key players this season. Definitely affected Arsenal's title challenge. Having said that though, their away performances against the other teams in the top 5 teams this season were horrendous! His tactics were poor in all of those games and surely has to take some of the blame for their failure in the league this season. Agreed. I think this is where Wenger has failed to either see or acknowledge BR's ability to reshape his team based on the circumstances. Losing games can happen in football but to suffer humiliating defeats is another story. We had tough fixtures back in December where we visited City and Chelsea within a week yet we put up a good fight. You simply cannot let your team suffer humiliating defeats as it will mentally wreck you.Great credit has to be given to BR for how he's managed the team this season. We have the thinnest squad among the top 4 and some players were injured in some parts of the season but he has eked out whatever possible from each player this season and more often than not, he's tinkered with the team's game plan on the fly during matches to the team's advantage. |

QUOTE(leftist @ Apr 21 2014, 02:05 PM) we were missing Sterling in early season..BR only started playing Sterling around december/january..thats half the season without Sterling..not to mention suarez ban and sturridge injury True. Sterling had problems settling in the first half of the season but his absence was mostly due to tactical decision rather than injury. Yeah i did mention about Suarez and Sturridge but the important thing to note is that we didn't lose them all at once. We always had a fail safe to weather the storm. |

QUOTE(Patt_Hup @ Apr 21 2014, 04:00 PM) I think those excuses that we are not playing in European are cheap. If they are truly confident on this, they would have talk about it during the start of the season and not when we're at top of the table. Well said. If you tell anyone back in August 2013 that Liverpool will be in poll position in April they will laugh at you. They will tell you their squad is bigger and better, and that their manager and players are better and full of experience. Nothing has changed nearly a year later. We still have a smaller squad and we still lack title experience. All this less games excuse is just to make them feel better about their own shortcomings. |

QUOTE(terryfu @ Apr 23 2014, 11:17 AM) BR was sack before so he knows the feeling. I don't kecian him at all. Sure the manc job is one in the biggest if not the biggest football job in the world but all the blame lies solely on him. I would have a bit of sympathy for him if he was being undermined by the mancs but that was not the case at all. The mancs backed him to the hilt and even spent loads of money on players. Rafa and even Hogdson did not have that luxury. Even Kenny's 'disastrous' season won the club a trophy.Really Kecian moyes. The whole thing is so shambolic. Well he can relax for 1 yr since he got compensation and take this time to learn how to manage a football club the modern way. |

QUOTE(reehdus @ Apr 23 2014, 12:36 PM) Actually I believe just like Hodgson (which I shamefully admit I was against as well), Moyes didn't get all the support he needed. Noone really backed Moyes and at times it seemed like he was shouldering all the blame himself when i believe some attitudes of the supporters, players and staff worked against him. Like what Keane says in this article: How much more backing did he need ? The fans were fully behind him and even made the Chosen One banner for him. The club overpaid for Fellaini and then bought Mata to salvage their season. And the media were on his side until it was clear as day that he was out of his depth. That leaves the players but can we truly say he utilized his players to the best of the abilities ? He had not one, not two but 3 no 10s in Kagawa, Rooney and Mata. It was up to him to get the most of these players."“I think it’s a shame,” stated Keane when asked about United’s decision to dispense with the services of Moyes. “I think he should have been given more time and some of the players at Man United should be ashamed of themselves. I think they really let him down." http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1794633/...e-fault?cc=5739 I don't think our players were against Hodgson, but I think the supporters really gave him a lot of stick. In the case of Moyes, he was fighting an uphill battle ever since he arrived. |
