Salt helps to destroy some bacteria and helps create a slime coat on the fish's body that will protect it from infection and fungus.
Ketapang leaves help soften hard water and lower pH levels to make water slighly acidic which bettas love. This post has been edited by meiteoh: Sep 27 2006, 10:08 AM |

Aquarium salt...you use table salt or epsom salt and you will end up killing your betta.

QUOTE(Foxngn @ Sep 27 2006, 11:30 AM) how about those use in cooking one & also those which are like those sugar size one? how much for a bottle of aqua salt? just use aqua salt. safer plus cheap. i bought one big bottle last year and am still using untill today (i have 4 aquariums, one fish bowl, one big flower pot) cost less than rm5 i think. there are more expensive types but those are concentrated and have to calculate accurately. This post has been edited by sayasebuk: Sep 27 2006, 12:01 PM |

Fox: NO NO NO COOKING SALT OR SEA SALT OR TABLE SALT. Aquarium salt is very cheap, like RM2.50 for one big bag.

my betta
http://sayasebuk.multiply.com/photos/album/10 have him in a fish bowl with some gravel and jave moss. had him for 6 months now. bought for rm1.50 at jalan pasar, pudu. btw, is it ok to change full water and replace with tap water? i only change 50% with aquarium water from my tropical planted aquarium. afraid of too many chemical fluctations from tap water. |

Fox: Click on the following links:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_salt http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_salt http://www.bestfish.com/fwsalt.html Basically, if you want a similar example, it is like saying that beras and pulut are the same thing. Sayasebudak: Usually advisable that you change 25% to 50% to avoid shocking fish with the different water conditions. |
