can't denied they were good, but now is really.. Sucks! and poor service.
HSBC is 12 swipe annual fee waiver (12 swipe only.. 1 month i have already exceeded~), many other banks also giving free waiver for life time and better merchant privileges,
too bad, Citibank credit card can't compete with other bank anymore..

the funny thing is, they have their citibank booth just beside the cathay cineplex, but they have already cut off the privilege with cathay long ago, now the only Merchant with Cathay is AMbank..
don't understand what is their current management and marketing department doing.. maybe in crisis or something.. whatever~

Anyway i'm not the hardcore loyalty customer.. already decided to terminated all the service with them, no hassle anymore, i keep the bank which can provide better privilege and service only.

btw, all bank is sucking blood, why let the one who suck your blood and giving you lousy service.. hehe! bye bye citibank!

just to report...

been with citibank for cards for 20 yrs. i have 2 citi cards - mastercard cashback n visa rewards (changed from gold visa).

last statement, there was a AF shown in the rewards card, never before. i called up and asked why... when i took the card, they said it is AF free as long as i dun not hv any category for special points. answer now becomes, "it depends on yr spending and payment". my answer was straight, "ok, u lied when u said it is AF free but i know i hv waived all my rights". waiver was granted finally but i will terminate this card soon. i redeemed all my points for cash vouchers. 2 days later, they sent me a signature premier miles card invitation which i dumped into the garbage bin.

that leaves me with the citi cashback card. as i hv said several time here, this cashback card is only good if they waive the AF. if u pay AF, all yr cashback is given back to them, waste of time. if they refuse to grant me AF waiver next round, it's 100% bye-bye.

i dun like to leave them after 20 yrs but they seem to be pushing away loyal customers for new ones. so be it, then.

i still have another card which auto waives AF n GST, no questions asked, no need to call n beg. wink.gif

I've no issue clearing the balance. Usually we as the credit card holders will use cancellation as a leverage to seek for the waiver, hence I asked to be transferred to the cancellation department as they would have the authority for such waiver. I just want to get the waiver done ASAP. Holding me off by asking me to clear the balance first before they can actually transfer me to someone with the authority to waive my annual membership fees is a hassle, I would need to wait for another working day for them to record the payment.

I've called in yesterday around 5.50pm, that customer service officer understand my situation and directly patch me through but unfortunately they don't work 24 hours. Hence, they arranged for a callback within two working days.

I wouldn't want to wait and called in again today and encounter the "no waiver" customer service officer.

Anyways, I trust in Citibank and I've called in again just now. The customer service officer said he need to transfer me to another colleague for the waiver. I was patched through and the officer did the waiver for me, no hassle.

Sometimes you just need to call in again to get someone helpful.

That's why I just use Citibank Choice card, the only Citibank card without annual fee. Can't be bothered to call and beg them for annual fee waiver. I just use the Citibank card for some dining/shopping discounts anyway. So Choice card is enough for me.

I'm holding citi clear card for 3 years plus now. For the past few years, I have no issues requesting AF waiver but this time around seemed like their CS is very firm on this. Called them and spoke to 3 different persons already, still same outcome.Threaten to cancel the card also no effect. Anyone managed to get AF waived? I've been using this CC actively, and a very good paymaster shall I say.

I called today, wow the stupid Citiphone menu bring you go to the park, then forest, then circus, before you can speak to an actual human being.

Immediately after she asked how she can help me, I say I want to cancel my card. She ask me why, I say point blank I don't want to pay the annual fee. She put me on hold, then came back and say actually they have a criteria to waive annual fee which is 3 swipes, and I have already fulfilled the criteria. She will reverse the annual fee for me and will be reflected in my next statement. She asks if its okay for me to continue to use the card. I say ok, she say thank you for continuing to use their card, I said have a good day and hung up.

Straightforward, no directing here and there bs.

Didn't ask me for type of account. No 0 to speak to pretty girls. Maybe I try again next year.

Mine is normal peasant card. Not the premier ones.

last time i only have one clear card, if i say cancel straight they will waive my annual fees, this year i have more than one citi credit card they don't mind to cancel one of your card, because you still using their service anyway. unless you tell them to cancel all your citi card "maybe".
