I'm planning an update to my current xbmc setup, and plan on moving to the Intel NUC platform due to the cutesy size, currently running off an old MacBook CoreDuo

Which would be a better fit for the NUC platform? i5, i3 or Celeron?

My setup would be
- Win7 Ultimate/Professional
- uTorrent
- XBMC (SD series, and HD movies)

The machine will be left on 24/7, hence the NUC (or something similar if possible that consumes <65W). At a full load, the i5 NUC seems to draw up to ~26W. I'd prefer not to go through the mini pc configurations due to higher power rating, this will be a media pc only.

Guys, I have a question here. I'm using MediaElch as my movie scrapper. So in Kodi, I would choose a folder as type movie and local information scrapper and it will read all my movies in that folder along with the Arts.

Sometimes, a movie failed to be scrapped properly by MediaElch making it have empty art when browsing the movie. What's the easiest way for me to make Kodi to reload to movie + the arts?

What I've did is
1. Change the content of the folder to none and clean the library.
2. Re-set the folder as type movie and load all the movie back.

These are the recommended steps I've found and honestly it is a bit too much

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Found the answer.

Refresh individually
Select the item in file view and either press I on the keyboard, or bring up the contextual menu (press C).
Select "Movie information" or "TV show information".
Then select "Refresh".
When refreshing individually you can also choose to just refresh or manually select images for various views (cover art, fanart, thumbnails, etc).

celeron is good enough, you will get everything you need with it...23.976Hz playback, HD audio passthrough....and of course the more usual stuffs like smooth 1080p playback. Just make sure you get an SSD or msata as the HDD
If you got more cash to splurge, feel free to go for the i3 or i5 version, but not really required for xbmc or casual windows 8 usage

all the info u need is here

http://kodi.wiki/view/Intel_NUC

it seems to be that HD audio is only available on linux for celeron, so i3 would be your best bet if you need HD audio

Thank you! I may go the i5 route if funds permit, for futureproofing.

yup thats the way to go, especially since its not that expensive nowadays anyway, price has come down considerably since launch. You should be able to use every single capability of kodi with the NUC smile.gif

*Pardon me for noob in tech terms.. notworthy.gif

Can XBMC automatic downsize 1080p FHD movie that stores in my homeserver when play thru wifi to tablet?

My cap ayam android tablet only can play 480p...try to play original 1080p, die-die lagging...
There is option in the video-output setting, but it's grey-out....
sweat.gif

Is it related to cache size?

Thanks bro...installed Plex for testing but seems movie database was hard to sync compare to XBMC, plus some of it not accurate. Or maybe me that still can't figure out how to do it properly.
*Errr....no PLEX thread in this forum? sweat.gif
