Even though I really hope to get into Science (my first choice) to do mathematics, but I am equally happy with FASS (my second choice) too. Cause I love economics as well

Nope. It is not under NUS. It was formed by a few seniors few years ago to foster the Malaysians together.

Congratulations! Yes, NUS will not choose for you and you'll have to declare your major yourself when class starts, don't worry about that!

Because I really want to do Science (first choice) or maybe Engineering Science (third choice) now!
But I was given Art & Social Science (second choice)! I should have make engineering science my second choice last time. Anyone has any experience regarding appealing choice?

P/S : I think I should be given Science instead of Art and Social Science, because I actually got my A* in maths, chem and phys, but A in econs! Why can't they give people their first choice

Congrats to you all for getting an offer
If you're planning to appeal, you would have to go to the Online Application Status Facility to do so. I don't think the appeal period is open yet(it should be available around May) so you would have to accept the offer first.

Emailed NUS and asked them about appealing for higher-ranked choice of course and they said it is highly unlikely our appeal will be approved. Sigh.
Anyway, I know it may sounds a bit offensive, but the indicative grade profile for NUS state that 90th percentile to enter Science is AAA/A for Singapore CAL. I guess our CAL A* equals to their A. I think 4A*s is required to enter Science. http://www.nus.edu.sg/oam/gradeprofile/sprogramme-igp.html
Anyway do you hear anything from NTU? My friend who has 4A*s got his offer for Chem Eng already! I did not get anything yet! :/ I think you can wait for your NTU offer and see how thing goes as you apply for Maths in NTU right?

Yes, they emailed me yesterday morning to inform my admission. I did not log in the website for quite some time as I thought the offer will only come in May or June. Quite suprising that it came so fast.

Yeah, I asked them the same thing as well and they replied the exact same things as you said.

Well, actually the 90th percentile means the top 10% have the results of AAA/A but the 10th percentile means the bottom 10% BBC/B. I guess it's because I didn't take biology. My combination is maths, chem, phys and econs. I actually got A* for maths, chem and phys, but only A for econs. So I don't think it's my grade problem, but maybe rather the subject combination. As you can see, from the IGP profile, 90th percentile for Art and Social Science is also AAA/A, the same as Science; rather the 10th percentile for Art and Social Science is ABB/C, even higher than the BBC/B in Science. So I just asked them again, what if I declare the specific subject of degree I would want to major in 'Science' category, to see if it could increase my chance to appeal! Still waiting for their reply anyways.

For NTU, I have yet to hear from them too But now after I got the offer from NUS, I really hope to get into NUS for maths instead of maths in NTU. Even though you can say both of them are good, but for now, I feel like NUS is still more well-known and famous than NTU in international level right?

The 10th percentile is actually for those students with 'exceptional talents & achievements'! I still think you can try to appeal! But you need to decide if you want Science or Engineering Science as we can only appeal for one course! Good luck!!
Yea I know right. After I get offer from NUS, I don't feel like bothering about NTU already.
In fact I am waiting to see if NTU will offer me for my first choice, Accountancy D: and I am thinking if I should appeal for Pharmacy as it is really unlikely to get it
I am thinking to appeal for Accountancy in NUS instead as I am also interested in Accounting and personally think that Accountancy will give me a wider route compare to Science D: but still undecided if I want to leave Science field

Hahaha, I think I will appeal for Science.

If you really get accountancy from NTU, I think you really have to go NTU already, accountancy in NTU can be considered as the most competitive course. Mostly occupied by Singaporean, if foreigner get it means you are really damn good already!

Eh why? I thought you said you like chemistry last time also right? If I'm not mistaken? But well, how would you say so that accountancy gives you a wider route to Science? For me, I think Science always has the widest career prospective next time, if next time you graduated with Science degree and feel like going into financial industry/ corporate world to work, you will still be able to do so. But if you graduated with Accountancy, and want to do Science, definitely you can't turn back. If you want to involve in accountancy, next time you graduated with degree in Science, you can still take up professional paper like ACCA or ICAEW right.

Anyways, I also wish all the best in your appeal and hope you make up your mind on which course to appeal!
I'm pretty much settled down with appealing Science already!

Sometimes I have to face the reality I love Science but I have interest in Accounting too (as I took up Accounting for spm). Probably I am still bothered by the name of 'professional' I still need some time to make up my mind D:

Guys, can I ask how much do you estimate for the living expense each month in NUS?

Preferably if you can break it down into:
1) Accommodation
2) Foods
3) Miscellaneous (Transport, Stationery, Books etc.)

if u guys hv not realize it yet, only certain sc courses hv high demand, eg. medicine, pharmacy, actuarial sc, and a few others only... social sc is higher in demand, law, econs, accts, business courses... etc etc is even more competitive on avg

if u end up at engineering, chances are a lot of ur classmates are msians or prcs or indians... local sg prefers business subjects

also dont bother about professional or not, if u hv acca vs ntu/nus/smu bac of accts, the academic degree will be more highly sought after

recently nus & nus's entry criteria drop slightly due to competition from smu which is slightly more highly regarded locally

1) in campus 300-700, out campus 300-800
2) 300, food in campus is cheap
3) transportation not needed if u live in campus, free shuttle... unless when u go out... if u stay out campus there's a student card... others cant comment
4) phone is 40/60/100 per month
