As mentioned a few times in this thread.... Most boxes are good for streaming internet content. Question is, can you find steady Live football sources for paid/free? once you answer that, then choosing a box is easier. Recommended minimum specs include 16GB ROM, 2GB RAM and Quad-Core Processor.

there is no free full time live soccer channel on the planet!

either pay for the legit ones, pay with risks for the illegit ones or tweak endlessly to keep up with what is available on kodi.

however, i find it sufficient to watch selected matches on cctv5 sports (chinese commentary) and fox sports hd.

No personal experience with either boxes but i've read that there are isssues with Kodi and the Xiaomi MiBox (Can't remember if mini or not). Seek for specific Mibox threads for better info. As for the other box, specs looks reasonable, however, I would advise getting a box with at least 2GB RAM & 16GB ROM. Just 8GB after OS and some app installations, will struggle sometimes to buffer content adequately.

Depending on your needs, time n tech know-how. if you are talking about iptv streams running in KODI and willing to spend slightly more, get an android box or RPI that Kodi runs well on. There are a bunch to choose from...Himedia, Wetek, Minix, etc. I use a Minix X8-h Plus and its quite satisfactory especially where Kodi is concerned. However, since it seems you are more interested in the subscriptions based iptv apk thingy, best you confirm from the sellers of such subscriptions, what boxes are able to run said apk, as sometimes the apps are only allowed to run on specific boxes.

kodi is an app, a very large app.
it is actually a shell platform where anyone can build an addon for other users to stream all kinds of stuff.
the administrators of kodi leave each addon's wellbeing to the specific owner.
as a lot of stuff is infringing on copyrights, addons can be dodgy - they come and go, may not be stable, etc.
kodi stuff is almost 100% free.

for a device, say an androidbox, you can install many other apps.
some apps are payable, some are free.
some for iptv, some for video on demand.
some proprietory or specific to certain brands or model.
all kinds of languages.
some work very smoothly, some hardly work.

best thing to do is first decide what r yr priorities - live tv, vod, eng only or mix, can accept sd or only want hd, how bad u want live sports, need usb playback or not, audio requirements, etc.
then check out the various device threads, seller's threads, ask questions.

just remember 2 main things:

1. there is no "i want it all" box.
2. it takes quite some learning, hands-on and patience to make it work to yr satisfaction.

Just download an app locking app from Google's Play Store. Any decent box running Android will allow this.

Got to know about android TV box after setting up streaming from PC - router - TV using cable.

Now looking at CS908, Amazon Fire TV. My requirements are:
* streaming movies, videos, photos, music, pdf & other text files from my PC & HD
* streaming HD movies & TV (e.g., Discovery, Korean dramas, etc) from the net
* using Kodi
* ??

Appreciate your recommendation on which box I should get, price and company.

Many thanks.

IMHO, get the Amazon Fire TV as its a much better hardware and built by Amazon. However, you do need to know that its a little bit more trickier to install third party apps and configure Kodi on the Fire TV than the other box. But still, better get the Fire TV & learn how. Here's an example, Installing Kodi on the Fire TV. Remember YouTube.
