haha..this is android tv box thread guys, neways
in my opinion, there's not much that people in here can do and affect kodi as it is very open platform. all the sources are from outside eventhough i did find 1 local addons. not sure if local provider can block such apk or its sources  whistling.gif  whistling.gif

haha.. dun trap me like that bro.. as mentioned in kodi forum, they are responsible for developing the software for people to use openly/freely
kodi is just another software like napster/kazaa/torrent, android player is just similar like vcd/dvd/blueray player even ur pc
theres always content ownership issue eg. people wanted to get paid vs people who dun wanna pay
lets just pray for world peace yoalll

Of course those people in UK got raided. They openly advertise with big signboards, how stupid can they be biggrin.gif

People here more cautious. Some don't install the freebies in their boxes, but send the 'apk' to you separately after purchase.

Dear sifu,

Hope you could advise me whether i should buy this item due to budget and seldom watch TV, only watch during weekend (mostly astro knowledge channels like nat geo wild, history channels, mega builder and do on)

I planned to buy this
item(s): CS918 RK3188 Quad Core
Hardware Specifications:
Rockchip RK3188 Quad Core Cortex A9 1.6GHz (1.8GHz max.)
2GB Ram
8GB NAND Flash
Android 4.4 android tv box
802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi(2.4GHz)
RJ-45, Micro SD Card reader, USB, OTG, SPDIF
Quad Core Mali 400MP GPU

It is compatible with kodi? Everything can run smoothly?
I'm newbie to android TV box by the way.

Thank you for your advice in advanced.

See this thread. It should answer your questions at least to some degree, especially the last few post in the thread about current owners running KODI on the device. Being a newbie (everyone was once), once you understand that configuring and dealing with bugs/issues especially on older hardware and less than optimal software is the norm, then you should be fine. Personally, rather save up more and buy a more recent device with better specs and compatibility with the latest KODI versions, cuz KODI upgrades don't wait for no one (especially hardware acceleration & decoding)... nod.gif

It appears the box does have some issues. I can't speak much about Intel NUCs cuz no experience with it. Maybe other members who have such device or experience with them can tell more. Meanwhile, if you are really tight on budget and only require KODI software (not default android), how about checking out the Raspberry Pi 2? Its reasonably cheap, gets decent reviews with support here on lowyat from owners. Be advised, be willing to put in the effort.
