Hello sifu.. Just recently learn about android box because i am never TV person. This is for my grandma and my about-to-be-stay-at-home wife. I've read a few good pages and wishes to seek clarity. Please guide me.

I am currently with unifi hypp tv. My unifi is the new 30mbps. The programmes and prices are ridiculous. I do not wish to go back to astro.

My wife watches english tv shows and movies only.
My grandma watches korean & japan tv shows and movies only (with mandarin sub or dub)
My 2yo kid with his regular cartoon.

40 inch tv.

What are the options of box to purchase at the budget between RM300 to RM500?
Does the add-ons that i need to install fulfills the criteria i need? My family doesnt watch chinese stuffs.

My friend was recommending me Mibox but another says it cant support KODI and another says android box. I am very confused by the available options (and the relativity of every name) and couldnt tell whats best for the criteria above. I dont usually get to watch TV due to the nature of my work so this is purely for my family. This may seems like some effortless man asking to be spoon fed but please please help.

i highlight the bolded parts.

unlikely android box will work for you.

android box is not "push button" astro or hypptv or dvd player.

it will work only if:

1. u make serious effort to learn how to get and maintain good stuff from such a box.

2. u r patient and hold the hands of users all the time after u have learned enough yourself.

3. u have the time and interest to keep up - find, obtain and install updates/new versions of firmware and apps.

This is an even better suggestion if using Unifi or Streamyx. rclxms.gif

Hey everyone, I'm looking for a cheap (as cheap as possible without being too laggy, below RM 200+ if possible) Android Box that will just run things like KODI well.
Resolution of 1080P is sufficient (don't have a 4K TV)

I don't need youtube or mirroring or gaming as I already have the TV connected to a PS4 and Chromecast. Just need a device that will give my more sources to watch (especially documentaries) and I don't feel like getting Netflix.
I don't mind one that requires good connectivity as well as the TV is next to a switch and I can easily attach a LAN cable to it

Thanks !

the thing about android boxes is it is >4 years old.

and 4 yrs is a long time for tech maturity.

if u do not need 4k, netflix hd, i suppose u will also not need hd audio, 10 bit, 60fps, etc.

which means u really only want a kodi box.

for that, just get any decent 2/16gb android 5.0 or higher.

the challenge for u will not be about the box but about u learning all the methods and tricks on how to use kodi to its max potential.

Just one question:
If buy a android tv box (any brand) can we watch the regular IPTV channels like: news (BBC,CNN), docu (NatGeo, Discovery, History etc), Sports (SkySports, BBC Sport, etc)

http://www.11street.my/productdetail/lates...droid-tv-861682
This one was suggested by someone and it seems like misleading as it does not provide the channels I listed above (PLEASE correct me if I am wrong)

Ordered on 28th June. Shipped out on 30th June by Kerry Express Thailand. Received today but I think would have received it last week if it wasn't a public holiday.

This question has been asked and answered over and over again in this thread.. Please take some time to read thoroughly (at least the recent pages).. To answer your question... It's a Yes & No.. Observe:
*Buys android box... Have source of IPTV channels? Yes. Can the box play it? Yes.. So, Yes.
*Buys android box... Have source of IPTV channels? Yes. Can the box play it? No... So, No.
*Buys android box... Have source of IPTV channels? No. Can the box play it? It doesn't matter cuz no source.. So, No.

As you can see, it's common sense.. Find the source, Play the source!
