try using REMOTE control, not mouse.

shafa can be dodgy.

i prefer to use apk's from direct sources.

all china apps are working fine for me, incl vst, cibn, youku, buding, hdp, tvplus2.0, boxer.

i am using himedia but i am quite sure there is no diff with minix for those apps.

Sorry, I can't help more than advice that you Google for them... As I'm more into English or appropriately subtitled (for foreign movies) content.. smile.gif

apps... ways to get them:

.. google the app and download the apk.
.. find china sites like shafa, get shafa or the individual apks.
.. read this thread from page 1 to end - i remember someone posted a couple of links for apps but not sure if still work.
.. get apps from your seller who can provide links or sites
.. copy from your friend or neighbor.

That depends on the manufacturer, as there are various versions of the M8S box... Are you buying online? Posting the link helps.

Check your specs sheet then. Even still, that should not stop you from upgrading your router, if you have other devices that can take advantage of the 5Ghz network. As usual, an Ethernet connection is always preferred.

Different OSes... For one, Intel NUCs are more expensive than your average android box.. Can't really compare both as they are meant for different types of customers... One's a mini-PC, the other isn't.. Both have strengths and limitations.. So depends on your budget, current & future needs.

Hi all,
Looking for android TV box for streaming movies, sports and also acts as media centre. I will connect a HD to it too. Is MINIX Neo X7 or X8 more than sufficient? How about Himedia Q5 or Q10?

i hope someone who is using pc stick-mini pc can start a new thread on the subject.

everyone's looking for some box, will be good to be informed what's the latest available in the market.

Advice:
*How tech-savvy is your mum?
*Would she be comfortable using a regular mouse or airmouse to navigate an android box and its apps? Sure, you could set an app to auto-run at startup... If for some reason it crashes, etc?
*Buying an android box does not automatically provide or maintain such live TV services or any service. So prepare for some hands-on, if needed. So find the source...Play the source.
*5Mbps may work depending on the strength of the servers being connected to and your network. Its far from ideal... 10Mbps and above is recommended.

All the boxes you've mentioned can fulfill your requirements above... The question is "How well"? Especially the bold part. You need to think of it as buying a car.. All cars can drive from point A to point B, yet each model does it differently and offers "perks" than the other models. So you need to analyze thy requirements.. For example,
*Budget?
*What type of files do you intend to play?
*Video & audio formats?
*Do you care about HD audio passthrough tech?
*Are you familiar with streaming sources? etc...

Hello sifu.. Just recently learn about android box because i am never TV person. This is for my grandma and my about-to-be-stay-at-home wife. I've read a few good pages and wishes to seek clarity. Please guide me.

I am currently with unifi hypp tv. My unifi is the new 30mbps. The programmes and prices are ridiculous. I do not wish to go back to astro.

My wife watches english tv shows and movies only.
My grandma watches korean & japan tv shows and movies only (with mandarin sub or dub)
My 2yo kid with his regular cartoon.

40 inch tv.

What are the options of box to purchase at the budget between RM300 to RM500?
Does the add-ons that i need to install fulfills the criteria i need? My family doesnt watch chinese stuffs.

My friend was recommending me Mibox but another says it cant support KODI and another says android box. I am very confused by the available options (and the relativity of every name) and couldnt tell whats best for the criteria above. I dont usually get to watch TV due to the nature of my work so this is purely for my family. This may seems like some effortless man asking to be spoon fed but please please help.
