I believe one can just use a passive adapter for the Malaysian power sockets, seeing as the main power adapter is rated to accept between 100 - 220v, 1.2A.

On top of the original Shield controller for playing games, mine came free with their remote.

Anyway, I still use a wireless mouse / keyboard combo. Sometimes the mouse does not scroll properly at Shield's main menu. I have to use the keyboard arrow keys to scroll and navigate to the apps below and then press Enter key.

IMO.. The Nvidia ships with a controller but not the remote (Yeah, Nvidia.. doh.gif).. Since the remote isn't that great and you'll still need to augment it, best to skip buying the traditional remote and get a much better one instead.. Keyboard + Touchpad/Mouse combo.. Save cost.. Those can be bought locally..

No worries. Mine only came with US type adapter. Just like vocrane mentioned, use a passive adapter to convert to Malaysian plug.

In fact, I used a multi 2 pin adapter plug to plug my other 2 pin power plugs as well as Nvidia's. Ngam ngam fit. rclxms.gif

Yes, mine was on promo with free remote thrown in. If not wrong, it was from B&H Photo.

It's true. Stylish, yes but the remote is not very functional. If you have to buy the remote, I suggest to skip it. The wireless keyboard / mouse is a better investment.

i bought my shield TV come with free remote too....as for the game controller, i still keep it at the box. love the remote due to it simplicity & accurate voice recognition. Logitech K400 Plus will be my next best option if i don't use the remote.

Clicking the whatplug link returns a 404 error.. Nope, the Shield box doesnt require a transformer.. Just an adapter.. See image posted above by jchue73.. Meanwhile, found this floating around; a picture of the power brick. Accepts 100 - 240v (in)..

i studied the Nvidia Shield TV review over and over again before committed to it (which works at our country). Power brick/adapter specs can be seeing at 4.20 minutes, just need to buy passive adapter to fit from US to UK type plug.

7-8 years ago, plain media players already can do that.

a std android box today can surely do.

can normally also do m2ts, bdmv, iso.

some can do hd audio, some cannot.

In addition, full HD could mean low or high bitrate files. Could also mean H.264 or HEVC (H.265) standard, then there's FPS...etc.... So depending on the file types, make sure you buy a sufficiently powered box.. All boxes are not created equal.

i am curious about this hi10p and 10 bit.

a couple of people have asked before.

what is hi10p, what videos come in this format?

where is it commonly found? movies, games or home cameras?

at this time, i only know even the most advanced android box nividia shield does not have it.

will be good to know more what may come next...

Software decoding is possible and afaik, hardware decoding is yet to be implemented. You have to understand that the demand for Hi10P support is very low as its a specific market, and as such, manufacturers aren't in a haste to implement such. Here's a contender:

Mainly anime files..
QUOTE
Hi10P (also called "10-bit") is a profile of the h.264 video codec. It has recently become popular in the anime scene for video encodes. The first stable version with Hi10P support is v12 (Frodo). As of v13 (Gotham), Kodi will automatically use multi-thread (multi-core) software video decoding for Hi10P videos, allowing for better performance on low-end processors.
Hardware requirements

Hi10P won't work on most ARM or even some Intel ATOM processors. Hi10P can't be hardware decoded (which is to say, no one currently makes hardware decoders for them and no company plans to add Hi10P hardware decoding in the foreseeable future), which is what a lot of low-power devices require for smooth video playback (such as the Raspberry-Pi, Android, ATOM processors, and some AMD APU systems). Thus, Hi10P requires CPU/software decoding.

A safe bet would be at least a Core 2 Duo/Celeron G530 processor (or equivalent AMD) or higher.

Some (most?) ARM processors are not powerful enough to software decode it, and no hardware decoders exist for it. As faster ARM CPUs come out this will get better, but don't expect miracles from the average Android box.
