You'll find an unmatched sense of possibility, security and exhilaration that makes the Subaru XV distinctly suited for the living city. Because what's inside a Subaru will give you confidence like no other.
SUBARU TECHNOLOGY SUBARU BOXER Engine
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Few cars deliver the thrilling eagerness and spontaneity of the Subaru XV. It's achieved with the horizontally-opposed SUBARU BOXER engine, which places the pistons 180 degrees apart for a lower, flatter profile compared to other engine types. This gives the powerplant - and by extension the whole car - a lower centre of gravity and more balanced weight distribution. In addition, the pistons' opposing movements counteract each other, which naturally reduces vibration. [attachmentid=3806545]
INCREASED STABILITY Because the engine block has a flatter profile and sits lower in the chassis, the overall vehicle is more stably balanced and resistant to side-to-side motion than other designs. SMOOTH AND EXCITING At any rpm, the engine delivers immediate, responsive power that's both smooth and satisfying. Without compromising comfort or civility, it transforms even a daily errand into a dynamic adventure. LONG-LASTING PERFORMANCE The engine's flat design is inherently rigid and self-balancing, generating less vibration than "V-type" or "inline" engines for more durability and more reliable performance.
SPIRITED RESPONSE Whilst the SUBARU BOXER engine has always provided exceptional balance and a smooth response, we've made the experience of driving a Subaru even more inspiring. Our engineers scrutinized the effectiveness of every valve, port and piston, creating an engine that's lighter with better fuel economy. And it not only achieves new heights of efficiency, but also has more lowend torque, giving an immediate and stimulating response every time you hit the gas pedal.
2.0-LITRE DOHC SUBARU BOXER MAX OUTPUT: 110 kW (150 PS) / 6,200 rpm MAX TORQUE: 196 Nm (20.0 kgfm) / 4,200 rpm FUEL ECONOMY *1 : 7.0 lit./100 km (Lineartronic) CO2 EMISSIONS *1 : 187 g/km (Lineartronic) The power to stir excitement comes from the rich and immediate response of Subaru's 2.0-litre DOHC petrol engine. Improved Active Valve Control System (AVCS) and an optimised intake provide a generous amount of low-end torque, ensuring you have the acceleration you need around town. That performance comes responsibly, too - cylinder-mounted injectors and lightweight pistons and connecting rods mean it's as frugal with fuel as it is clean-burning. In addition, due to its vibration-canceling SUBARU BOXER layout, power and efficiency comes with refinement that's made for urban living. [attachmentid=3806548]

Several Benefits: Smooth vehicle operation: The continuous variable transmission offers step-less shifting, which allows for a smoother transition between gears because there is no mechanical shifting. Due to the way the CVT works, there is no noticeable up shifting or down shifting, which creates a very smooth operation for passenger and driver comfort. Fuel efficiency: The CVT keeps the engine in its optimal power range, which increases fuel economy as gears are shifted as needed. If you need more power, the gears downshift to give you passing power and acceleration you want as your press down on the pedal.
Quick response: Eliminating mechanical gear changes the step-less CVT enables the powertrain to be more responsive for throttle application and vehicle speed. For example, there is no hunting for gears when going uphill, or when passing.
Driving pleasure: The manual transmission mode allows you to take full control of your vehicles power by shifting gears for increased performance and acceleration. You have the fun to drive benefits of a manual transmission and the convenience of an automatic transmission.
Interior comfort: The step-less transmission allows for improved driver comfort because there is no mechanical shifting of gears. The driving experience with CVT is smooth and quiet.
Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
The satisfaction of the drive comes from symmetry and balance. That is why Subaru has been developing and perfecting the Symmetrical AWD system since 1972. Matched with the SUBARU BOXER engine for a near-perfect symmetrical layout, it delivers gratifying power with exceptional traction, providing balance and stability for total control in ever-shifting road conditions. [attachmentid=3806538]
DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE Excellent road adhesion gives acceleration an immediate and exhilarating feel. Symmetry enhances the Subaru XV’s handling to be more stable and responsive during cornering, imparting a unique feeling of control in any situation. CONSTANT CONTACT The more your tyres are engaging the road, the greater control, security and connection you have. Power is routed to all four wheels all the time, maximising handling and traction. AGILITY IN AN EMERGENCY In bad weather, or in the precious seconds it takes to react to a sudden situation, the symmetrical drivetrain with almost total side-to-side balance provides the stability, agility and traction that help you step around danger
Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control System (VDC) That's where Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control* system saves the day. As an adjunct to the full-time security of AWD, it acts as a vital backstop in emergencies, kicking in only when it's really needed. Sensors monitor vehicle speed, throttle opening, gear position, lateral G, yaw rate, brake status, steering wheel angle - analysing the actual driving situation. Then, a computer simultaneously co-ordinates control of torque distribution, engine output and ABS - using braking on the outside-front or outside-front and rear tyres to stop the car from spinning. None of which detracts from your everyday pleasure in driving your Subaru. But even if Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control system never betrays its presence, it's very reassuring to know it's there if needed. Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control system automatically uses the correct amount of braking to the wheels to prevent the car from skidding, thus helping you avoid obstacles while staying in full control of your vehicle.
SAFETY

PREPARED FOR WHAT'S ALL AROUND.
WHAT'S INSIDE: Smart engineering, exceptionally rigid construction and advanced technologies are ready to keep dangerous impact energy away from the vehicle's occupants, just in case. WHAT IT DOES: Whilst a collision sometimes can be unavoidable, you can have peace of mind knowing you're always surrounded by a vehicle that's proven to help protect.
PASSIVE SAFETY, TO BETTER SURVIVE A COLLISION Occupant protection is a high priority in every element of the Subaru XV-from the major features such as seats, to the smaller ones like the pedals. Its energy-absorbing body structure is smartly strengthened with high tensile-strength steel in critical areas, minimising the impact force that can reach the cabin whilst increasing bending stiffness. In addition, an array of advanced interior safety features help protect occupants directly. PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION Made for the urban landscape, the Subaru XV provides a high level of pedestrian protection. Shock-absorbing space between the bonnet and engine helps reduce pedestrian injury if an accident were to happen, as do an energy-absorbing front bumper and a specially designed area around the windshield wipers.
RING-SHAPED REINFORCEMENT FRAMES The Ring-Shaped Reinforcement Frames strengthen the passenger cabin from the roof to the doors, pillars and floor. This helps divert and dissipate impact energy away from the occupants in a collision. The frames for the Subaru XV feature high-tensile steel designs that are strong and rigid yet lighter weight. [attachmentid=3806589]
SEATS, SEATBELTS AND SRS*1 AIRBAGS Height-adjustable front seatbelts feature pretensioners to hold passengers firmly in place. And the Subaru XV now features whiplash-reducing front seats and energy absorbing head restraints that can help better protect front occupants from injury during a rear collision. Even the rear seats have been optimised for protection, with the seating position moved back to reduce the effects of a side impact. Front, front-side and curtain SRS*1 airbags are now standard. Also, tether and ISO-FIX anchors - which don't compromise luggage room—facilitate easy installation of compatible child safety seats.
BREAKAWAY ENGINE Every Subaru goes above and beyond common practice when it comes to your safety. In the event of a head-on collision, your Subaru XV's SUBARU BOXER engine and gearbox are designed to absorb the impact and break away from the cabin for your protection. [attachmentid=3806559]

Forester 2.0XT and Forester 2.0XT Premium: 2.0-litre direct injection turbocharged, four-cylinder DOHC petrol engine with Dual Active Valve Control System (Dual AVCS)
Turbocharged engines have a deservedly strong reputation for sports performance and high power output, and now the new generation Forester turbocharged engine can add a reduced carbon footprint to this equation.
Subaru engineers have adopted a Direct Injection (DI) stratified charge engine which significantly improves acceleration, fuel and environmental efficiency while producing a dynamic driving experience. Direct Injection delivers fuel at an extremely high pressure of up to 15MPa (2000 psi) directly into the combustion chamber, instead of premixing fuel with air in the intake port as is done in more conventional fuel injection systems. Using Direct Injection (DI) means that the timing and volume of fuel delivery to the combustion chamber is no longer dependent on the induction airflow and valve timing. This also has meant the new engine complies with strict EURO5 emission standards.
The new generation turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder horizontally opposed Boxer engine produces 177 kW of power @ 5600rpm and 350Nm of torque @ 2400-3600rpm.
Combined with the ultra-efficient Lineartronic™ CVT, lightweight body and specially-designed chassis, the result is a thrilling drive with seamless acceleration.

Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE)
Also designed to let you select your driving mode of choice is Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-Drive), which available on Forester 2.0i-L, Forester 2.5i-L, Forester 2.5i-S, Forester 2.0XT and Forester 2.0XT Premium. SI-DRIVE regulates key engine functions to offer up to three distinctive driving modes in the one car:
For Forester 2.0XT and Forester 2.0XT Premium: 1.Intelligent (I) mode for everyday driving conditions 2.Sport (S) for enhanced acceleration 3.SportSharp (S#) for a exhilarating drive
The Forester 2.0XT and Forester 2.0XT Premium feature one further enhancement to the Lineartronic™ CVT for a more sports driving style. When SI-DRIVE sports sharp (S#) mode is engaged, the transmission operates with an eight step shift pattern similar to a conventional automatic transmission to provide a crisper sports driving performance. Manual mode using the paddle shifts on the steering column also reflects the eight gear ratio steps with rapid shifting to provide a similar effect to an eight-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) transmission with full engine braking for a true sports driving style.
X-Mode :
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
X-Mode
When the going gets tough, engage Forester’s new X-Mode (standard on all LineartronicTM CVT models) and the vehicle takes control to regulate the speed on steep slopes for better grip and traction in slippery conditions.
The system interfaces with the engine management computer to control throttle opening speed to suit the conditions. On slippery surfaces the throttle opening is delayed to provide a smooth torque delivery thereby minimising wheel spin. Conversely under load on rough roads the throttle opens quickly to improve drivability.

Go to malfreemaps download the latest Map and POI. generate the map and extract the POI. map file - gmapsupp.img (100mb++) POI - folder (MFM C-POI 20131101) take out the SD card behind the kenwood panel. backup all the file of the SD card first before doing anything!!!!
the SD card at first is protected, so we cant replace the file inside. go to www.garmin.com/kenwood -> product update -> region -> other -> model -> DNX5310BT -> follow the 3 steps.
after installed garmin communication plugin, the SD card should be able to access now. Now, replace the gmapsupp.img, and copy the POI folder into the garmin folder.
now insert back the SD card and enjoy the malfreemaps and POI icon. remember!!! go to setting avoidance, tick the U-turn.

Hi all... Orange xv owner from kuantan reporting in... Picked up the car yesterday....and love it! Today I install the small mudflaps ordered from china. Looks cool but not 100% fit. Have to enlarge some of the mounting holes and bought extra plastics rivet clips.
So far the ride feels smooth but haven't tested it on highway speed yet. Fuel consumption...? Guess 2 days isn't enough to comment. ...
Look foward to see more people sharing info about the xv...

Yea I contacted the eBay seller. It's about 90USD without shipping cost. Waiting for reply on shipping cost from US to Msia.
Any forumers that know of a cheaper alternative that I can buy locally?
