Yea I contacted the eBay seller. It's about 90USD without shipping cost. Waiting for reply on shipping cost from US to Msia.

Any forumers that know of a cheaper alternative that I can buy locally?

Their service intervals every 30k km..

And performance enhancements really tempting

These guys are called Auto Enginuity in Glenmarie. They have been around quite a while and they specialize in Subaru cars. I did my servicing, turbo upgrade and ECU tuning with them for my previous Forester. Now waiting for Ecutek to officially support my new Forester before sending to them for remapping again.

And I think this website is something new they are doing. Previous website was useless.

They are not bad. Even expanded and started renting another lot behind their existing workshop to start taking Euro cars like VWs and Audis.

Almost definitely...by nature of any car warranty.

I did my turbo upgrade after 3 years of ownership. Back then, Subaru only gave 3yrs warranty.

This time round, I have started with mainly removable stuff and additives. Like racechip, K&N filter, voltage stabilizer, engine oil additive and petrol additives. Forgot to mention upgraded rims and tyres too.

Even my self installed LEDs are done using removable wire clamps.

But I will not touch turbo upgrade and exhaust upgrade for a while. But anyway, the support for tuning the new FXT ecu is not officially available yet. So can't upgrade turbo or exhaust without it anyway.

XV ecu can be tuned using opensource software and a Tactrix cable via the OBD port, as the engine and ecu is the 2.0 engine from previous models if I am not mistaken. I have the cable to lend, if anybody is interested. But if you do not know what you are doing, then please don't.

Nowadays Subaru gave 5yrs warranty and after that i dont know is it okay for me to go for tuning or save some money to buy a new car.

Btw do u have any advise on braking system? XV doesnt come with good braking power like crv, its not wise to enhance power if braking system is not good icon_question.gif

For me, I am planning to start my major mods in the 3rd year. By then, you can more or less tell whether the car is reliable or not. But of course, there is still a risk.

As for the brakes, the power for the XV 2.0 NA engine will not get any mega increase even with retune, intake or exhaust mods. You'll still be a fair way below the 200hp mark. So I don't think upgrading the system or calipers is worthwhile. But you can try to source for higher temperature rating pads. That will improve your braking performance considerably. But you'll need to expect more brake dust, which is common with the higher performance brake pads.

My FXT brake pads are same as the outgoing legacy model. So I have already asked AE to order Endless brake pads for me to replace them.

You can go to AE and ask them to take out your brake pads to check and draw out the shape. They can help you source for the better brake pads.

Or you can first check the XV forums. I think there is one with lots of XV owners all over the world. Someone must have changed theirs by now and they will usually share the info on the brake pad alternative brand model no. etc.

for normal oil change, its even easier cos the filter is placed at the top of the engine...
for major stuffs (overhauling etc), u just cant go to any workshop la... u need to find boxer specialist, which is not hard to find nowadays... plus, subaru engine are reliable, it wont likely to break down easily...
now its using timing chain, no more belt... so u dont need to change them quite often...

if u plan to buy the XV, try to get the 5years maintenace package... its the best value... 5 year worry free smile.gif

talking about resell value, I am a bit worry about the XV RV though. Estimate average RM10k per year for the first 5 years or will be much more than that? I do expect the depreciation will be higher than normal Japanese brand but dun know how serious will it be. Hopefully not as bad as Peugeot. sweat.gif Any ideas? hmm.gif

base on feel alone?
hav u checked online on the actual performance of an xv like brake assist or braking distance from 100-0kmh?
vios braking is better than xv? thats a bit hard for me to believe...

cos better suspension can make the car braking momentum feel less obvious, the rear is less likely to lift up under heavy braking..
a balanced braking means more control n takes shorter distance
