Hi all... Orange xv owner from kuantan reporting in... Picked up the car yesterday....and love it! Today I install the small mudflaps ordered from china. Looks cool but not 100% fit. Have to enlarge some of the mounting holes and bought extra plastics rivet clips. So far the ride feels smooth but haven't tested it on highway speed yet. Fuel consumption...? Guess 2 days isn't enough to comment. .. . Look foward to see more people sharing info about the xv...

QUOTE(yoongdynasty @ Jan 18 2014, 12:14 AM) I drove 1300km and have an average reading of 8.4l/100km. I drive 50:50 highway and city. A full tank has about 54litres and gets me 570km with 100km remaining shown on dashboard. (plus minus 650km). Good fc, good torque, and impeccable handling. Just abit noisy when driving above 100kmh. With the current price and 5 year free maintenance, it's a pretty good buy. Bought. It from Zenock and he is as good as it gets in terms of servicing his clients. Nice feedback. Have you consider sound proofing? I've been doing some reading about it and somewhat convinced that'll help to reduce the noise levels. Most overseas owner diy it. Doesn't look that hard, does it? Anybody done this before? Diy or done by shop? Please share your thoughts. Tq.

QUOTE(hwachai @ Jan 18 2014, 09:15 AM) abundai done his ... you can try check with him ... Hrrmm...this is interesting. Most sound proofing that i researched on the internet will involve applying materials on the metal side of the door, not to the door panels. Well, i guess its just a different approach. As long as the end result is satisfying....what the heck.... I'll try to scout what's available in kuantan....

USB socket? Not really a big deal for me. One can always get one of those after market socket type or can buy a permanent type add-on and then tap on the existing cigarette lighter wires.

QUOTE(Cynox @ Jan 28 2014, 09:37 AM) Can find more XV on the road of Johor Bahru now. Sighted a white XV at Tun Aminah yesterday, very striking, eye-catching even from far. So far sighted 3 - 1 blue, 1 dark grey and 1 white.
... Yup. Same in Kuantan. Two days ago saw a black one with 'W.." plate. Not sure if its from Kuantan. This morning saw one blue unit @ the shop ready to roll out. Think it was ordered 2 weeks ago when i took my car (should have been mine... naah, happy with the orange). Also saw a white xv passing by while having breakfast with the wife. Interestingly, the black and white were driven by ladies...hrmmm. Perhaps it's more appealing to the ladies. Looks tough and rugged enough to me...

QUOTE(Cynox @ Jan 31 2014, 10:13 AM) Happy Lunar New Year to all XV owners!! Yes!!! The SA manage to settle everything and deliver my white XV yesterday. I finished the reunion lunch at my wife's family house and while walking to my wife's car to go back home around 4pm. Surprisingly got the call from my SA saying can collect the car - perfect timing. The Subaru showroom is very near to my wife's family home. Not much driving done except for the journey from the showroom back to my home at Skudai. Initial feel - it is more powerful than my previous Livina. Better ride quality too but maybe this is due to my Livina aging suspension. Exploring with the HU now. It is better than i expected. Maybe just upgrade the speakers will be good enough. Congratulation bro. Go easy with new ride. Have the same feeling when took my first ride except feel a lil bit crowded. Been driving a trajet for the past 10yrs. Kids all grown up now. Main reason for the switch. Hope everybody is having a nice gong xi fa chai...drive safely.

QUOTE(hwachai @ Feb 8 2014, 09:07 AM) where kuantan subaru service center? When I go back kuantan for CNY, a lot of my friend never see XV at kuantan. You should drive more often ! hehe Subaru Kuantan share the same premise with Okuan VW complex, jln beserah (opposite Merc showroom), edge of kuantan town on the way to kuantan port. Well, when i think about it, perhaps the reason they put magnatec is due to the fact it's only the 1st service which lasts for 5k kms, after that it'll be 10k kms intervals which makes much more sense to put full-synth oils. Will ask sc about this on my next service. I was in kuantan during CNY...when you got to be my age, family members will 'balik kampung' to us.... So, not much driving done during the holidays. Besides, want to make way for my chinese friends to 'balik kampung' with 1 less vehicle on the road... . Even so, i heard it's bumper-to-bumper on the main higways...Anway hope you've had a splendid CNY and the up coming Chap Goh Mei..

Has anyone take a look your at xv undercarriage? When i did the first service, being a curious person, i went to check out the under side. I was surprise to see that not much paint/anti rust(?) applied. In fact, looks like as if job done in a hurry, few patches of black paint but not much. I remember my previous imported version Trajet undercarriage, wheel arches filled with black rubberized coating on it. Is this really a concern? Any input?

QUOTE(Cynox @ Feb 11 2014, 10:08 PM) just common sense - not only for Forrester, every new engine should not be race until properly breaking in. Ahhh..the breaking in controversial...some interesting articles about the break in secrets here.Personally, l would go with the manufacturer recommendations.

Hi all...
Got the free service/parts coupon today even though already did the first 1K service (of course, after a bit of argument, Subaru Kuantan SC finally did everything FOC). I did notice that they use Castrol Magnatec (semi-syth 10w40) and when asked they said it's standard procedure. One of the mechanic assured me that the next 5K service will be fully synthetic 5w40.
Today when i looked through the coupons i realize that the 5K coupons is missing. So, i called Kuantan SC and they said that the next free service/parts will be at 10K. The 5K is just for inspection only, no oil/filter change. They said it's Subaru new maintenance service policy. They are just following orders.
So, basically i'm stuck with the semi-synthetic for the next 10K.
All of the coupons stated the car should get 5w40 oil. Personally, i feel that Subaru SC is not being fair and doesn't treat customer well. Very disappointing....

QUOTE(ghodack @ Mar 3 2014, 10:50 PM) As for me, the SC that I went to uses the Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40. Yes, the 5k coupon is missing but we still need to send our XVs to the SC for checking & inspection (as per the advise given by the SA). Wonder why they don't have a standard brand across service centres (as prices are different). How much did they charge you for the Castrol, bro @mirfa? Mine is RM287.50 for 5 liters of motor oil. I think you have to refer to Motor Image HQ in KL if you still got unsatisfactory answer from your SC with regards to the motor oil. I opt for the free service and parts...but dissapointed coz they use castrol magnatec semi synthetic 10w40. Market price is about rm130 - rm150 (?). I'll try call MI HQ tomorrow and see what's their explanation...but have the feeling not much is going to happen. Kuantan SC always too busy with VWs...they couldn't be bothered with 1 or 2 subaru that checks in...me think.

I've just called MI PJ sc and confirm that they use fully synthetic oil for the first 1K service. The sc advisor sounded surprise when i told him Kuantan sc uses semi-synth. Later he directed me to talk to the customer service personnel. Customer svc promise to investigate the situation and to call me back...hopefully they will.

QUOTE(Maxiii @ Mar 5 2014, 10:00 AM) i took the 5 years free service package when i bought the car.. so one of the fine prints at the bottom of the service schedule is that we could pay extra if we wanted to use Motul engine oil for service instead of the castrol magnatec which is the one they would us as standard. So im just wondering whether is it beneficial to pay the extra and go for motul or in fact its bad for the XV enginer if we use Motul..? I thought 5w40 is the standard oil for the free service package which is Castrol Edge fully synthetic. Magnatec is a 10w40 semi-synthetic...again, i might be wrong.
