Bullet Train Boarding @ Shinagawa Station
It's time to say goodbye to Tokyo as we made our way from Asakusabashi to Shinagawa Station, which seems like the central place to board the extremely fast bullet trains to move around Japan. Needless to say, with great speed comes with a great price tag. My journey from Tokyo to Kyoto cost a whooping ¥13, 720 (~RM450) which was almost the same price as my flight ticket back to Malaysia. For this price, seats are already included. ![]() DSC07229 by zstan, on Flickr ![]() DSC07231 by zstan, on Flickr The bullet train arrived exactly on the minute mark and left within seconds. If you are fractionally late, do prepare to burn your wallet for another ticket. The interior of the train feels pretty much like a aeroplane and the seats are rather comfortable. ![]() DSC07248 by zstan, on Flickr It was a great experience to finally try out the famous Shinkansen. Maybe next time I would get the JR Rail Pass and I can hop in and out of the trains as I please. Kansai here I come!! |

I am planning to visit Japan end of this year when I get back to Malaysia for my semester break. I am really keen to visit either Tokyo or Kyoto, or perhaps both. I googled and found out the distance is around 360 km, is that true? How many hours will it take if I wish to travel by train from Tokyo to Kyoto?
Another thing is that, maybe I am going to travel by myself if my friends can't make it. My main concern is the language, do they understand basic English? Anyone had any problem before with the language? |

QUOTE(RegentCid @ Mar 1 2014, 08:36 AM) Thanks sifu, unfortunately i only have this period for me to go (a 10 days straight holiday)I am in the midst of planning my itinerary, I am planning to buy JR pass which later i will use it to travel from tokyo - nagoya - kyoto - osaka (Tokaido Shinkansen)? unfortunately, the pass is only last for 7 days, my question is cna i use JR pass in tokyo metro or osaka metro? I also plan to stay in Asakusa area, will definitely try the capsule hotel for at least a night. For mt Fuji day trip, any recommendation? plan on 5th May, which most dont operate on 3&4 May. Millions thanks for your advice. |
