Ooooh zerosp and regentcid, you're both over here eh! I haven't seen you guys in quite a while since the C&C days.  lol.  What are you guys doing these days?

Quick question, I'm going to Japan at the March 31 - apr 12 ish. Where do you guys look up concerts in Japan and is there anything interesting in Fukushima? I'm looking to spend one day near Osaka but not sure where yet.

just got back from JPN last Friday; sakura still around in Osaka and Kyoto. airBnB can be very helpful when it comes to a strict budget, which i booked through it during my stay in Osaka. location is between 2 train stations about 20 minutes walk to either one of the stations, which is okay for me considering that would help to blend in with the locals. if traveling across the cities quite often, JR Pass is definitely worth it. one time Shinkansen from Tokyo to Osaka costs me more than RM440. also due to Nozomi tickets availability ONLY at that time. weather can be quite warm, when there is no wind especially in Osaka and Kyoto. it was quite chilly at night, though. i believe one layer of long sleeves tee or one inner layer from Uniqlo will do just fine.

thanks for the weather info for kyoto.
will be going there this wednesday rclxm9.gif

This is the place i stayed (in Osaka), found it in airbnb, quiet residential area with mountains in the background, one of the nicest places i have stayed.  problem is it's quite far from the metro station (1.3km), walking out during the morning is ok but after a full day of shopping, just take taxi back, cost no more than 780 yen per trip.

Osaka residence

back view of the apartment is just amazing...

and around this area got some pretty amazing shops and restaurants.  I found a restaurant near the metro station (Shijonawate) that sells very local food at very affordable price, it's got one of the best meals i've had in japan

Hi guys

Just came back from kyoto. It was kinda hot during day time as I can just wear tshirt or another long sleeve shirt cuz it would b hot from noon to 5-6pm. Nite time not so cold too, tshirt n simple jacket not too thick one should be fine.

Another things is dat my whole trip was abit mess up with loads of school kids going to famous sightseeing places as well, so it would be difficult too take pictures. Not sure if it is school holiday or wat, but ok oso cuz some was so pretty tongue.gif and it was even more fun at Togetsu-kyo Bridge.

Anyway here is my itinerary. N if u pick Santiago Guesthouse as ur place to stay, i found it to be convenient. Here's the details:

23-04-14
1. Arrive at Kansai Airport around 8am
2. Took the JR Tokaido/Sanyo line, saje wan to stop at Osaka station
3. Reach Kyoto Station, took the bus No.100 to Santiago Guesthouse Kyoto
4. Checkin, rest for a while n straight to Kiyomizu-dera Temple cuz is 10min walk from my place smile.gif
5. From there walk along Higashiyama district, past Maruyama park n too bad no more cherry blossom until sad.gif Chion-in Temple
6. Nite time took a walk to Gion and later dinner around Teramachi cuz Gion pricey la. Teramachi more affordable n variety.

24-04-14
1. I regret not buying the one day bus ride, wasted alot cuz got abit confuse wit few station. End up paying many times 230Yen, demmit.
2. From my place I took the bus No.100 to Ginkaku-ji Temple
3. Then walk down along the Philosopher Path, got some cherry blossom i think so, maybe those late bloomers.
4. It was a long walk but was ok, and temple along PP are so2 only.
5. So i walk until the Nanzen-ji Temple which a better temple along PP after Ginkaku-ji Temple imo.
6. Then i took bus No.204 to Kinkaku-ji Temple n i would prefer this one over the Silver Temple.
7. Nite time again went to Teramachi n Gion site. Is actually a long stretch next to the Kamo River with a canel in between. The whole street is basically full with youngster, salaryman n hot chicks n oso ayam. Dats y i like to jln2 along the place heheheh.

25-04-14
1. 5min walk from my place to Kiyomizu Gojo Station n i took the Keihin Line to Fushimi Inari.
2. I think i finish the whole hike for almost 1 hours, crazy!!! thou i think there are few other routes.
3. Took a rest before taking the JR Sanin line from Inari station to Sagaarashiyama Station
4. I think Arashiyama was the best place to visit cuz u have the Togetsu-kyo Bridge. Luv the view, dunno when sg.klang can be like dat tongue.gif
5. Then went to Tenryu-ji Temple and towards the Bamboo Grove. I think i would more pretty during autumn when the leave turn red n u can take the boat ride along Hozu River.
6. Nite time again same place, thou i wan to explore other nite spots but my legs was too tired

26-04-14
1. Woke up late, went to shopping at Teramachi and Nishiki Market. Loads of stuff, foods, cloths for men and women, shoes, souvenirs n many. Some of it is kinda pricey but some could hv good discount.
2. But i regret not going to nearby onsen...haizz
3. Nite time same place again, thou i wanna go find place to watch EPL. But tmrw already need to check out, so went bck to pack my stuff.

27-04-14
1. Clear my stuff n checkout.
2. But stop by at Yodobashi nearby Kyoto Station, tempted to buy but budget was tight.
3. Finally took the JR Haruka line straight to Kansai Airport

Hope my info would help, thou i think there have been countless post on kyoto already ^^" n sorry is some info could be inaccurate, tried my best to recall.

Thanks

JS
