I was in Shinsaibashi, Osaka. I decided to go to Starbucks coz it was summer. Used Google Maps. Guess what?! it directed me to STRATOUSBOURG! had a good laugh anyway. haha

I am planning to visit Japan end of this year when I get back to Malaysia for my semester break. I am really keen to visit either Tokyo or Kyoto, or perhaps both. I googled and found out the distance is around 360 km, is that true? How many hours will it take if I wish to travel by train from Tokyo to Kyoto?

Another thing is that, maybe I am going to travel by myself if my friends can't make it. My main concern is the language, do they understand basic English? Anyone had any problem before with the language?

I went to osaka and tokyo last summer alone. Dont worry about the language. They sorta understand you if you know what you want to ask. Get internet data for your phone. It is not cheap. I google translate a lot and it is helpful. during the weekends, there are japanese volunteers who speak english stationed at major train stations to assist the tourists.

You will do fine as long as you know where you want to go to.
