RAM Upgrade README

Please check ur ram speed when upgrading.. make sure they are the same speed to utilize the Dual Channel mode... and make sure its double sided rams for maximum performance on a dual core system... (it is recommended that you use double sided rams for dual core processors)

to manually check the speed, you have to open the ram compartment first.. make sure you are well grounded before exposing any internal parts of the notebook.

the label of the ram is on the side facing the motherboard... you will have to remove the ram from the slot to check the speed.

I am waiting 4 the full detail spec for this laptop. will make a survuy to LYP this week for the best price and spec....hopefully our bro william is the best offeier....hahahaaaaa.....

one thing i very 'bimbang' is that AMD turion X2 become produce lot of heat?? any one have idea?? As i know even Acer duo core 5560 series got a lot complain abt the heat( refer to the Acer 5560 club in the forum)......really worry abt it...

My advise, buy from the shop out there....

I place an order for a V2613 for RM2999 on 26 June. And I reliaze today there is this V3000 come out on 29 June. In fact I ask the HP telesales when the V3000 will come out and I was told it will not available 2 months for now... That's is why I place an order...

If you go to the low yat, you can ask for discount further ... the V2613 can sell for RM2890 on 24 June when I ask. and it was sell at RM2499 as of today.

Honestly I am quite disappointing with this... I cancelled my order today and there is 15% charges. It is still RM50 cheaper to buy the same unit...

I learn my lesson. So I hope other do not....

Frankly, it is amazing to have such power consumption (15W) at 1.66GHz, dual core, 667MHz FSB & 2MB L2 Cache albeit only at 32-bit. Definitely worth the USD 100 extra for ultra portables with 11" screen size & below. Can't wait what the upcoming Intel Merom has to offer for low power consumption processor.

I finally got it the V3011AU with WinXP Home!! Its looks freaking sexy with it's black casing, something like the cool looking Vaios and Fujitsus!

Got it at MTCS LYP for RM3359 with 1 GB RAM upgrade and free optical mouse. Actually Sri Comp offer RM3320 for same specs but they ask me wait until 6pm today fro stock to arrive!!! Pigi la, my parking will kill me, so I thot wat the heck la RM39 bucks only ma.

NOw creating the recovery dvds, so belum mess around yet. But so far running for about 2 hours temp about 65 degrees, doesn't really burn the hand yet

Will post pics soon ok.

BTW confirmed it runs nVidia GeForce Go 6150 shared RAM up to 256MB

Ok what else, installed software includes Microsoft Works & Money, Sonic MyDVDPlus, shitload of HP Games (mostly PC version of PalmOS games ie Bejeweled, Insaniquarium etc), Norton Internet Security (60 days only ) & Powerpoint 2003 viewer only.

Partition D consists of the Recovery file about 8GB in size!! That's why transferring them to 2 DVDs to free up the space. Maklumlah 60GB only, I need every inch of HDD real estate I can get.

Oh ya got some light leakage akin to the Dell range. But bolehla.

for recovery your copy of genuine windows ,u just need to press F11 when u startup your notebook.

recovery cd can be create under the all program-> pc recovery

normally wont do partition cause the d drive is for recovery use.so if use partition magic,scare will spoil the recovery partition

The recovery portion is on the D partition, already pre-partitioned by Compaq.
Using the PC Recovery DVD Creator the software will walk you through it, very user friendly. After creation, there is the option of deleting the recovery partition. After deletion, the partition just disappears and you'll just be left with one single C partition.

Can save 8GB of HDD space wor.

Ok the casing is of the shiny black variety, quite prone to finger-print smudging, but can easily wipe off. No latch for the screen, it just flips shut after closing it to a particular degree (something like how the TH55 screen protector flips shut). A first for Compaq I think.
There are two microphone openings above the screen (Stereo maybe?). Speakers are placed just above the keyboard with the Altec Lansing sign prominently displayed. SOund quality is much better than my bro's tinny Acer lappie. But there's no treble/bass control But the volume control, media and mute buttons are blue backlit and are of the light touch variety (dono how to explain, must try for yourself). Kinda fancy that.
Keys has good tactile feedback with sufficient travel. Touchpad has a lock function as well.
Really isn't as hot as I expected, just 65 degrees over 2 plus hours.

Haven't tested batt life yet as was running on AC last night. Will try watching movie tonite on batt and see how.

sounds like your notebook vents are clogged up or something... modern notebooks needs maintainence like vaccuuming and blowing the vents... after 2 years it might have collected a layer of dust to prevent its cooling system to work properly.

the layer of dust would depend on the environment you use your notebook in... clean it periodically to prevent this from happening...

Well, there you go. But like I mentioned I'm not really into intensive number-crunching or gaming, so I think it'll suffice for day-to-day office usage and occasional DVD watching & light gaming.

I think Tainted mentioned in some other thread, just to get the specs you need, not what you may necessarily desire.

has the motherboard designed been improved to support amd's dual channel processor? i recently bought presario v2613 and learnt of that bad news after i bought it. it appear that compaq's mobo architecture doesn't have the support for the dual channel thingy and it is hardware, not some software or firmware issue that can be sorted out.

and this new release is double bummer for me. (

how's wireless lan? have they released the 64 bit driver for the broadcom wireless lan? or are they using a different device in this new release. last i check, compaq took their ftp server down and will keep it down until support for 64 bit drivers are available (minus any announced dateline).

really cool benchmark figures! thanx! looks like AMD Turion 64 X2 beats the crap out of my AMD Athlon 64 3500+... im using the same chipset 6150 and 430 MCP as your notebook... lol... congrats on your good buy... its worth it...

im sure u can play games like SWAT 4, NFS MW, and alot of other games with playable framerates... lol...

i think NVIDIA Go 6150 is slightly better than ATi Xpress200 and ATi Xpress 1150 caz it has shader model 3.0.. lol... the hp nx 6325 uses the lates ATi Xpress 1150 that support Turion X2 and DDR2 rams...

one thing tho.... how come your processor sticker is not X2? its just the normal AMD Turion 64 sticker.. might wna call up the computer shop or hp to do something about it.. ask them to mail u the correct sticker or something...

Help!! Can someone please post step by step method to enable powernow? It doesn't appear in my control panel. When I installed Powernow Dashboard Demo i got some kind of error message.
NHC seems to be running fine.

Google...install CPU-Z... run it.

Unplug your AC Adaptor.... if your clockspeed drop to for example...1Ghz or 800Mhz... then ur PowerNow is working fine.

Try along with Notebook hardware control to control . You could force it to run in Max Battery mode...Your processor would be underclocked...

I'm using Notebook Hardware Control and it shows my clockspeed at 800MHz. Sometimes it switches between 1.61GHz and 800 MHz. Normal and working?

yes.. its working.. AC adaptor clock sud be 1.8ghz.. and DC battery sud be 800mhz

the clockspeed will fluctuate when your notebook is unplugged.. means its running on the battery... once you plug the power in.. it should run at full speed all the time...

it is call HP QuickPlay Software.u can use it to watchdvd and play music without booting into windows.and its come with remote control for it.this feature is available for hp pavilion model

WOOOT.. thats blistering performance dude for a lappie.... thats gonna last you a long time... excess framerates for a 1080P H.264 video... blistering fast.

i just checked out the V3000 intel version on display at LYP.. they only have the intel version on display... but one thing i noticed is the colour changing LEDs.. SICK! its even on the touch sensitive Mute buttons... sexyyy... and its also on the Wireless manual on/off switch... it goes blue when its on and red when its off! very innovative technology...

how big diff is the nvidia go 6150 (v3000) compared to x1600 (acer 5563) ?

my boss wants to help me get a notebook (financially).. kinda desktop replacement. i was opting for the acer 5563 because of its specs and good 12 pipes x1600..

just got hold of 2 laptops today, one my cousin's one, one is mine.

the compaq presario v3010au is one sweet unit. liked it's sleek unit and outside with scratch proof surface...got it for RM2999 but it's my cousins...

me on the other hand took the compaq presario v2613au. one sweet unit too, and generously they gave a 80gb harddisk, although it's 4200 rpm, not an issue for laptops.

what's the different between compaq presario v3010 and v3011. v3011 give better spec? got in malaysia already? and is it its design same as v3010?

V3010 with Free DOS, V3011 with WinXP Home EDition.
Design exactly the same, only OS difference.

How is the performance of the v3010au. I am concern about the low L2 cache of 2x256kb of the AMD TL-50 chip used. Some series of the v3000 used the AMD TL-52 chip which have 2x512KB L2 cache. For comparison, Intel Duo Core have 2MB L2 cache.

I scout around LWP. Some dealers, bundled with 1GB ram total, willing to sell for around RM3000(or slightly less) for the v3010au unit if paid cash.

i jus got my unit of v3011AU today for MYR3350 with 1gb ram (1slot) and a free optical mouse..

and i haf to say 2 words... EXCELLENT QUALITY! LOL

Just wish to ask, does the graphic shares memory with the main ram, or do they have their own Video Ram.

Or issit a mixture of independant video ram and main memory?
