Try along with Notebook hardware control to control . You could force it to run in Max Battery mode...Your processor would be underclocked...

you need to go HP Support site and then type your lappies model and then you have all the drivers. Download em and burn it into a CD
You would also need AMD PowerNow drivers if you're using Turion. Otherwise , PowerNow/Cool'n'quiet will not work at all...and that thing will run really hot |

HP strips out the OS to cut the price of the lappie. So its cheaper. For me , I dont need XP to be preinstalled , for Linux gurus , they dont need XP to be installed...Install linux , DIY and they are set !

because its a 64-bit. For that price it comes with nVidia GeForce 6150 which is a pretty good IGP [PCI-Express] card...

I think Linux works out of the box. You might need to compile generic drivers, and I heard it works well with it [minus some stuff]

Nah it does not void
But it voids warranty for HDD replacement and the OS itself. [I could be wrong , or they might have changed the EULA]. You could do that , just make sure that you dont 'break' any of the seals....Its possible IMO..But remember you could say goodbye to your Original WD HDD |

Notebook hardware control lacks of nVidia thingy [ Its meant for lappies with Intel chips and ATi]
By the way , check nVidia's Tool. I am assuming its HyperMemory or TurboCache. It will grab 256MB/128MB/64MB/32MB/16MB whenever there is a demand. So you dont have to worry about it. Its automatic |

Its normal , even I hear a squeeky sound with my COMPAQ Presario M2512AU's keyboard. Its 'standard' , and it will develop overtime....

Okay the main difference is that Core Duo is a 32-bit processor and AMD Turion is a 64-bit processor [Vista Ready and it could support Vista in 64-bit mode]. The beauty of COMPAQ Presario v3010 series is that it comes with BroadCom 802.11b/g card which is a pretty solid card. It could even pick up weak signals

Lol , if you want free DVD Player look for other V3000 series model , they might have some goodies. Like How I got free PowerDVD Player for my lappie [M2512AU] , I just stole it from other COMPAQ M2000 series. Its pretty easy , you could flick some stuff
Yes , it can play WoW. If X200 Can take it , I bet nVidia GeForce 6150 Go could take it , afterall its a stripped doen version Nvidia geforce go 6200 AFAIK , WoW runs pretty well on Medium settings on my Sempron 3000+ with ATI Mobility Radeon X200 , I bet it would 'fly' at least on this lappie. GTA:SA plays fine on low settings [640x480] , but 800x600 works , expect you would get low fps when there is a gang fight This post has been edited by prasys: Jul 23 2006, 09:09 PM |

WD HDDs are pretty hot
My sempy now runs 41*C-43*C with a cooler [Its an el cheapo cooler , but I just connected a 9V Switching adapter [anytime I could use 5V] ] , it really cools down the lappie.... I tried hooking up my old Fujitshu HDD , the HDD Temp. pretty stable |

It must be using Broadcom BCM46xx something powered by HP. Get the broadcom drivers , use apt-get to get'em......Or use the ubuntu package thingy to get it
