hey guys, need some recommendation.
recently went to paid ponds to fish, and hooked some unknown fish.
it managed to pull out all my line.

despite drag already tightened to max, its still able to pull out.
is there something wrong with my reel?
(friend said it might be a big mekong, i dunno. been using it for some rohu and haruan mostly.)

reel: soron STX40
line: some unknown brand braided 30lbs
rod: 8 feet

line and hook did not snap, just the drag unable to hold.

Noted.
Will try it next time.

But if snap, the line very expensive. No?
Not rather let fish goes free, than snapping own line?

pond wor. u let it free spool i assume u will release around 100m of 30lb of braid.

100m around u if nobody then ok.
if 100m around u full of ppl , i confirm either 50% will spit at u and the other 50% will beat u up, or u will get cursed mother father sister and all.

so yes, if i was in your scenario, i would just stop spool until line break rather than to release 100m of line and let other ppl beat me up and curse my father mother sister.

So i thought they will do the same too.
Kena pay more tuition fees to learn all these.

ok here's my trip off Yan recently with no photos as most of the time the weather was bad and the cloudy gloomy days with rough seas was tough even on my body.

So basically under navigation the boatman brought us out for 48 hour fishing expedition. I was on board with unker david and steve from ironman team. leisure fishing only for us all. boat was 2 deck 80' which can accomodate easily 18 including crew. total # of pax onboard was 10. we like free space. Charter price including captain and full board is 450 per pax.

Day 1, headed out near andaman. 60NM +/- phuket island. Weather drizzling, waves 7+ knots. WHOLE EFFING DAY AND NIGHT DRIZZLE

my gear

tanacom + 60lb + 100lb flouro + #22 + 1/0 x3 paternoster
twin power 8000 + pe3-6 + 50lb + 60lb flouro + 250gm disco volante + 2x2 assist

daytime empty handed.
night time twinpower 1 ikan merah 3kg on 300gm shinju + 2x3 assist

Day 2

what 7 also dun have, wave around 5 knots but this time anchored.
+/- 35NM off langkawi
+/- 60NM off langkawi

weather bad, still drizzle.

drop for these areas is between 70m-150m

hand gonna putus if u jig for more than 10 minutes straight.

Summary - this tekong can go jiak sai. not gonna recommend. not gonna blacklist him because he's been very accomodating and nice to us all. but definitely will NOT list his number here.

hundreds of bucks and all i got was a small ikan merah and sore arms sore legs sore body and a flu. fark this shit.

i'm gonna stay home for a few months to rest up. this trip was very difficult on my body.

Hello all sifus here ! I'm a beginner in casting. After google around, a lot of ppl recommend Abu Garcia Black Max bait caster. Any budget BC from Shimano / Daiwa the same class as black max ? Please recommend. TQ

Been 2 years plus didn't go fishing. Heading to sek24 later in the evening. Instead of getting the bait at the counter, can still bring live bait there right? I used to buy some lampam and use as bait last time. Can get chao phraya or Amazon.

didn't realize now that the trend there many ppl using chopped keli as bait.
also at counter got sell frozen fish.

Hi Guys, I havent fish in like 7-8 years already. Now hands slowly getting itchy. Used to be fishing back in my uni days, so low budget fishing. Now working d, I'm planning to buy an inflatable boat, around 2.5-3m, since I stay Puchong area, wanna find a good lake to fish with boat.

Any lakes safe to fish with Inflatable? Perdana seems dangerous as got kids and 6 fireman drowned there recently. Thinking of getting full set of new rods, reel, boat and accessories next year. Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, any rivers for mud crabs? Sepang area have such spots?
