Totally not encourage to upgrade centre only as the matching will be out unless you get back pioneer

No offense but please, when you ask for speaker advise: LIST the model number instead of its design.

With the info you provided, you basically told everyone that no other center speaker will match because people can only guess what you currently have.

Are those the Pioneer AJs? Rev1 or Rev2?

Hi all sifu,

I am looking for a system which plays nice audiophile and also some house music with nice bass once awhile.

I got quoted this... below:

Mission MV Cinema 5.0 Speaker
Mission MS200 - Speaker
Onkyo TX Nr646 Amp
REL T9 Subwoofer

For price about 11.5K. Is this a reasonable price and combination?

Thanks.

Ok my bad. I wanted both actually and I was told it is better to get home theater as it covers both, 2.0 speakers and 5.1.
Is this a good set to go with?

The speakers are very decent.
Receiver on the other hand is pretty meh though, you either get a unit that doesn't break (and sounds decent) or a unit that breaks for zero reason what so ever out of the blue. So, yeah.

Generally mission speaker are pretty good. Now, is logic that 5.1 can cover stereo but the expectation on the stereo is consider ok. I won't say is audiophile like what you describe as well.

Can I use back my 7 year old Pioneer home therter speakers (last time bought it around RM1700) and just buy a new AVR (maybe Yamaha RX-V379) with those speakers?

What do I need to look for in order to match the AVR with the old speakers?

Yes,

But in most instances, speakers make the most aural differences in the chain..
N usually is de first to be upgraded.. biggrin.gif
But - truthfully , unless u are pretty fickle [n can tell the difference] n if you dont mind the sound of de ol spkrs, its gud to go..
There is some diff in sound from different brands but its negligible..

Oh.. I am not a hard core fan of home theater, that is why I am ok to use back the old speakers.

So I dont have to consider the power of my speakers to match the power of the AVR? Just buy the AVR and I am good to go?
