i dunno if this is being discuss before
can we setup a 3.1 system? a pair of front + centre + sub? or
better to setup a 2.1 system? movies more than listening to music
setup in a living room and surround installation is a problem
*
of course. 3.1 is better as it give a more firm "middle stage" in movie dialogs.
u can achieve surround feel by changing the facing direction (toe in toe out) of left right speakers

So its parallel connection, where the ohm is calculate by 1/8 + 1/8 = 2/8 or 1/4

invert the top, u running 4 ohm now. Very high ampere stress to amp.

if want reduce the load, use series connection.
speaker A connect red wire to amp (red terminal), black wire to speaker B red terminal.
then speaker B connect black wire to amp (black terminal)

this become 8+8=16ohm, volume lower but safe

Thats the dolby prologic 1
u can set 3 different mode to prologic 2

You can see 1 hdmi cable from my HT beside that white n red cables. That goes to hdmi (arc) slot on my tv. What it is for?
*
arc can transmit sound from tv to ht amp. your amp got support arc too?
if got, just press the hdmi link button on remote and choose home theater to play sound.

How do people usually choose home theater systems?
And is the setting up a huge hassle?
Thanks.
*

buy the sound u like, because listening is subjetive matters.
what speaker u using now? any unsatisfy problem?

setup playback is easy, aim towards perfection is difficult.

now not home theater.. direct from TV
*
ok then, how much u plan to spend?
if u want surround, 1-2k cannot go far from htib set.
if u dont want surround, can look around hifi shop.

whats the essential difference ?
*
what different are you asking? do u mean compare htib to tv sound?

of course much better la from speaker pointing downward is too weak and lost balance.

You're right... Mix and match really can kill you and get u broke  cry.gif
But I don't feel like to buy Samsung soundbar as I have a feeling that it is overpriced and Samsung is not the expert in sound system. I'm sure there are other audio brands with reasonable price and it gives u a decent sound system which value for money  biggrin.gif
*
let say u are buying everything new.
encore xls speaker rm1300, av receiver rm1400, bd player rm400, cable etc.
later u can add on subwoofer rm1600, small satelites for surround rm1000 and a good center channel rm1500.

total spent will be rm7200

Don't have budget of 7k to spend on this.. I've spent 7k on the tv itself  tongue.gif
What's your recommendations for 3k budget?  biggrin.gif
*
encore xls speaker rm1300, can give some bass so u wont miss subwoofer for a while. seller is fx20
av receiver rm1400, pick entry level among denon-yamaha-pioneer-onkyo. i would take denon x series (theater) or s series (slim)
bd player rm400 (see japanese brands)
installation & cable etc... survey shops from ur location

Hi, does 6mm2/ 10awg speaker wire overkill for short distance connection? around 1m..  somebody recommended me this wire
http://my.rs-online.com/web/p/multicore-sp...-cable/7832804/
very high strand count, 777 strands.
*
bro the specs write 37 strand
but using short length is quite affordable to try
