From my understanding..

Auddyssey XT32 is great for room tuning for multiple subs.. which is probbly one of the most difficult tings to do in a HT..

I very much doubt that its far far superior then the other formats other than tat..

My 2 cts la..

To be honest, now a days I've been dabbling more and more into manual calibration. A reason why I don't really care about YPAO, Audyssey, DCACC, MCACC whatever else much, if anymore. Manual calibration is definitely a hell lot more time consuming, tricky and sometimes a pain in the ass, but I find it fun and allows me to do things an auto calibrator will mostly not be able to ever do.

But yes, I think Audyssey is still generally the "best" auto calibrator, but the others has also mostly caught up.

room correction is not enough,u need spl meter to check and adjust level for every speakers and subs after calibration.
If u are really serious about good sound, buy umik 1 mic and learn REW,the improvement is huge.

Hmm the ypao on my v465 gets all speaker SPL to within 0.5-1 dB delta excluding the subwoofer which is always lower because of reverberations in my untreated living room.

Agree on REW.

Yeah YPAO (new or old) always has the tendancy to set sub level way too low.

to my understanding, its calibrated to amp reference 0db so u wont over shoot when playing loud. normally must bring up main volume to hear bass.
another possibility is room has bass resonance.

audyssey has given user choice to reduce the reference point -5db, -10db, -15db let us hear bass without going high volume.

personally i like diy but the avr i bought before only give limited adjustment. the self tune result is not nice to pair with certain room condition.

where audyssey show the usefullness. i measure 3 seats position (max 8) quite balance across the row.

I'm using this now a days - https://www.minidsp.com/products/minidsp-in...sp-balanced-2x4

+ REW + UMIK 1 mic (bought second hand on ebay, so it was like $40 lol) + Radioshack SPL meter

Beats the living crap out of any auto-calibrators.

Hi All,

need some help here. Looking to spend a 3-5 K on a speaker system, maybe something like Yamaha.

Any one else here have a nice setup to recommend? Mostly movies, and all kinds of music (audiophile, house, pop etc.).

Thanks.

Yes, i also expect it to be around 4-7 July based on previous KLIAV dates. No, im just a student. Only dabbled lightly in PC based hifi and headfi. Will be most interested in audit SVS plus other subs, audit some entry level speakers for HT, AVR. Limited bullets so need be sure what sound signature suit me. smile.gif

Hi guys,

I remember in an older posts some members bought some sign or plaques with THX, Dolby etc to hang in their HT. Where can I find them? I am looking to buy a few.

hi All,

I am looking into buying a home audio system. So far have seen the Yamaha RX-V379 amp, is it good?

My budget is a few 3-4K or more maybe, what will you all recommend? I listen to music and watch movies.

Thanks.
