QUOTE(sonerin @ Mar 19 2016, 04:21 PM) Totally not encourage to upgrade centre only as the matching will be out unless you get back pioneer OIc, but I read some forumer matched the different brand of the center and front speaker.

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Mar 19 2016, 07:40 PM) No offense but please, when you ask for speaker advise: LIST the model number instead of its design. With the info you provided, you basically told everyone that no other center speaker will match because people can only guess what you currently have. Are those the Pioneer AJs? Rev1 or Rev2? Center: S-MR800CR Front: S-MS800T This post has been edited by saitong09: Mar 19 2016, 09:52 PM

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Mar 26 2016, 06:02 PM) You want to match with your front LR speakers, not with your AVR. From the 3, none of them matches with your Pioneer speakers in tonality. Audyssey calibration not able compensate that?

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Mar 26 2016, 08:30 PM) Nope. Whether it would sound weird or bad or heck, even good, that's up to your ears to decide. If you're at a point where you have nothing to lose anyways, then go get either one of the listed centers and hope for the best. If it sounds bad, then plan to upgrade the front LR with matching (or at least as close as possible) sets. Good suggestion. If the sound weird, replace the front speaker as well. BTW, how to choose a good center speaker? This post has been edited by saitong09: Mar 26 2016, 10:58 PM

QUOTE(Kaka23 @ Mar 24 2016, 08:48 AM) Can I use back my 7 year old Pioneer home therter speakers (last time bought it around RM1700) and just buy a new AVR (maybe Yamaha RX-V379) with those speakers? What do I need to look for in order to match the AVR with the old speakers? Your old AVR spoiled?

QUOTE(Kaka23 @ Mar 27 2016, 12:00 AM) No la.. My pioneer is not a receiver It is a home theater comes with DVD player. Not sure what it is called. Those thousand plus can get 5.1 home theater system... Oic, I believe your speaker with low power rating and also the subwoofer is passive type without input. Afraid the AVR not suitable for your old speaker.

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Mar 27 2016, 01:56 AM) Too long to explain how to choose a good center speaker. Read this instead: http://www.audioholics.com/loudspeaker-des...channel-designshttp://www.audioholics.com/loudspeaker-des...annel-designs-1http://www.audioholics.com/loudspeaker-des...speaker-designsYes, it's quite a lot of reading but worth it because the center channel is by far the most important channel in a multi-channel setup. Thanks, will spend time go through it

QUOTE(Kaka23 @ Mar 27 2016, 11:52 AM) 100W4ohm can use at receiver? I think most of the AVR can support from 4ohm to 8 ohm. The only AVR you can choose is Pioneer VSX-324-K entry level with Passive subwoofer output. If you want others AVR, you might need to purchase active subwoofer

The room size is 20ft (L) x 9.5ft (W) x 9ft (H). I have an existing AVR ONKYO TX-NR616 which is 7.2 ready What is your recommendation if I allow a budget of 3k-5k for whole new set of speakers and sub-woofer? Any shops to recommend too? QUOTE(corinsb @ Apr 22 2016, 11:29 PM) Hi, I have a set of Samsung home theater with DVD. The system had spoilt and left me with the speaker. But I don't wan to waste the speaker. What can I do to use back the 5.1 speaker with subwoofer. Your sub is passive type, look for those avr that support passive sub, but very rare in the market.
