Dear all sifus,

I have an issue here with my HTiB system. Somehow recently my rear surround sound have no audio when process an output from TV via toslink. However, if i switch it to FM tuner, the audio came back.

Actually before this, I connect toslink from a media player and now because i bought new sharp android tv, i had to change this because media player not 4k compatible. Two days ago, I can't remember what i did and the surround speaker working but today no audio again. For info, from TV i use Kodi and passthrough option. In tv audio setting, i choose Dolby output.

UPDATE.

After did a detail checking, I notice the issue came from TV itself. I hook back my old AC Ryan media player and play the surround test video to check every chanel audio. It work fine on my Ac Ryan player. Both connect to HTiB by digital output. I don't know why TV cannot send a surround audio to my HTiB but my AC Ryan can. On tv, i try passthrough and also dolby but still no surround sound. Only left, right, center and subwoofer got the audio. I need to know whether this is tv hardware problem or android OS problem.

If any lowyat member here use Digital output as link to HT, may i know what player did you all have. Im afraid if i buy a 4k media player with android OS, the problem still there.

Older tv or non high end tv only outputs a stereo sound via toslink or hdmi.. The only way to get surround audio output from your tv is by buying new tv that supports surround output.

The issue solved. The TV is new. However, because i put an extension cable to 3.5 audio jack, the surround sound cannot deliver or process by TV

So far for me the best is Hitachi hard disk and also ADATA.
If you are serious on movie quality getting physical disc still the best

HDD does not affect the quality of playback but if you looking for reliability, as Sonerin said, Hitachi (under WD now) hdd is the best available. Hitachi has rebranded their HDD product under this brand call HGST.
if you still insist on Western Digital, go for the Gold series. the Gold series are reband HDD of HGST and they use the Helium drive series.

you can ....i am using this in my house. i prefer this to NAS so that i can remove the hdd anytime.

but it also depends on the media player that you will be using. i am using egreat and it is able to detect 6tb x 3 + 8tb x 1.

Hi all, plan to buy home speaker for my LG TV.

I am looking at Samsung HW-Q60R soundbar, tested it and feel like not to the extend as a lower price of 5.1ch home theater system did.

Is there any recommendation for 5.1ch home theater system with budget below 2k?

Mainly for music and movie purpose, not a very high end user also.

Thanks.

There are no proper 5.1 home theater system for RM2k budget. Best you can get is a used AV Receiver and used book-shelf speakers for 2.0. Then upgrade to get subwoofer and surround speakers later on when you have more budget. This 2.0 setup will in all likelihood sound better than any 5.1 HTIB that you can find.
